This extends to the classic Doom games. You'd think the SS-tier Demon would be something like an Arch-Vile or Revenant, but nope it's a fat balding undead man whose sole existence is to end you with nearly unavoidable attacks.
Personally, I feel as though the Archvile deserves a spot in either Tier A, or Tier D mainly due to the fact that his summoning is so much of a threat that it works against him and always forces you to one-shot him whenever he shows up. So he's either so much of a threat that it wraps back around to him being low tier, or he's just an extreme threat that unfortunately exists in the same game as the crucible
@@somedudewithakeyboard5388 Makes sense for sure. I've had so many runs ended by a caco that's floated up to me though so I always prioritise them at this point.
Doom Hunter: I have been meticulously designed for optimal destruction of you and your species Slayer: Ok big guy Whiplash: Lmao slither Slayer: Dear god...
@@SamuelTrademarked Carcass shields can really screw you over if their timing is right. They can detonate your triple rockets in your face, trap you in a corner to allow another heavy to hit you, mess up your air maneuvering, or block you from reaching that glory kill you absolutely need to recover.
@@revenantdootdoot7135 if i had the game i would of all spared your cousin at the cultist base becuse your cousin is useful for getting the super shotgun
@@fabrizeantonio4425 Yeah as much as I still enjoyed the fight, I'm surprised they didn't force you to jump building to building to fight around him as he destroys them. Like a larger scale Khan Makyr fight but instead of the floor turning into argent lava on one structure, the ground beneath you is constantly getting destroyed across an entire city.
@@DogsRNice ik this is very late but they also turn you into bloody mist with a couple shots as well. Embarrassed to say it cost me a run when I was walking through the super fire nest and not paying attention cause I was cleaning house. Dead ass went from full to null in about 1 second.
I really wish the modern Doom games would go back to the 30-level structure from the Old Times. It'll make the experience MUCH longer-lasting, so there can be more Ripping and Tearing.
@@pixelcrunch300ut the old levels were so much shorter, doom eternal on a blind run took me about 15 hours, doom 1 took me5, and thats inlcudinh episode 4
I actually like doom 3 tho. I started playing it after Christmas and have really enjoyed it. I feel like what it does it does well. Or it could be the horror nerd in me coming out idk.
Doom 3 was not the first doom game I played, but boy did it spook me good as a kid. Its not a traditional doom game but I still think it was good for what it tried to do.
@@chasematthews2437 And besides, if that's the "worst" official Doom game, I'd say Doom has been dealt a far better hand than pretty much any franchise from the 90's that's still around.
I have massive respect for anyone who can beat the game on Ultra Nightmare. I usually play on ITYTD, but I've beaten it on HMP with a handful of deaths.
This is the best tier list I've ever seen, well thought out and with interesting and matching footage instead of some general filler gameplay on loop. Thanks for a very entertaining video (and I don't even play Doom Eternal!)
SSG blast and blood punch instantly staggers them. Ice bomb, meathook-SSG and blood punch kills them instantly. I think they're easier to deal with than regular Mancubi tbh
@@multiwaypche6640 that's true, but that's why I recommend SSG blasting before BP. If BP fails, you'll be hit with that annoying ground pound attack. With SSG, you have a split second to dash away, or activate your chaingun shield if you can switch to it fast enough
Even though they have an easy counter of ice bomb or blood punch, cyber mancubuses (mancubi?) are still my least favorite enemy in the game. But, if there's anything doom eternal has taught me, it's that once I git gud, I love fighting a demon I once hated.
Fr tho, why is the failed chainsaw animation unskippable? I press the free ammo button, and instead I’m swinging a chainsaw in the air for a full second. Might as well be a demon punching bag. :(
- decino releases doom eternal tier video - id still balance patching doom eternal - sees chaingun shield bullying pinkies - patch 6.432.24234343 : removed chaingun shield thank you for your service to humanity ducino
There is Alot of video and a lot of doom content creator that highlight chaingun shield but at this very moment ID are still focus on how to nerf ice bomb. Also keep in mind ID isn't the kind of studio who nerf thing, they are more encline to create new ennemies who nullify those weapon advantages (kinda like the spirited demons against ice bomb) and there is alot of chances to see a return of the chaingunner in AG part 2.
Yea, then you got players like who don't ever use the shield. At all. Equip Mobile Turret - have fun by chewing through enemies, chainsaw a bullet pinata and keep up the pain.
@@SoulKiller7Eternal agreed brother, even super heavy enemy deamed "hard to kill" can't do shit agaisnt the Mobile turret, most satisfying weapon mod on the game? I definitely think so
Speaking as a rare fan of Doom 3, that joke at it’s expense was hilarious. Fantastic list btw. I probably won’t try this one on Ultra Nightmare, 2016 kinda broke me and I find Eternal way harder. Your tier lists are fun to watch regardless though.
I like how decino does these ranking videos. Instead of talking about a single enemy and giving them a general rank he covers their entire annoying existence throughout the game and rates them per level. I also like how there are no chain gunners on this list. They haven't been invited to the party this time since they ruin everything.
@ICON OF SIN They look like total bastards. They're also bringing in Nightmare imps too which I hope are not just more annoying prowler likes. I hate prowlers. They're next on my shit list.
Doom Eternal: The Plutonia Experiment Exclusively features classic Chaingunners, all with the mobile turret configuration. Hitscan included to make you relive your deepest nightmares from Final Doom.
I don't understand why everyone says Revenants are trash... I find that their dashing melee will completely destroy you if you aren't careful. Hell knights are slow and easy to take out with Micro Missiles and Sticky Bombs. I would swap the Hell Knight's and the Revenant's positions on the Exultia tier list.
For me Arch-Viles will be S tier, their summoning, knockback, teleportation, shield and high health makes them the most dangerous of the non boss Super heavies of the game, and I HATE them with all my blood
Imagine bullying a giant meaty bipedal sabertooth doggo with a cyber-shield on a minigun whilst fighting your way through a damned city filled with demons-
@@lineriderrulz and that's why there's no tentacle toys, especially those big mojo, cus it will look like Moby huges, man Penguinz0 would have been proud
After beating everything in UN, I actually disagree with almost all of the placements in the list. I find that you underrated or overrated certain enemies a bit. But that is the beauty of the game, I think. Those who say you can't have creativity in it don't know what they are talking about. This video right here shows that you can have differing playstyles, and still beat UN.
@@riskygirraffe3433 There is no such thing as "cheese strats". If the developer was naive (or incompetent) enough to leave an opening, it will be exploited.
I feel like Cyber Mancubus should be at least Tier B due to the random pools of acid they leave around, waiting for distracted players to just walk into it. They also appear in busy encounters so if you did not notice one spawn in, it can quickly become a major pain.
Got Doom eternal recently and its been a blast, thank you for getting me into this amazing series! And also my first playthrough is on Ultra Violence I've been LOVING IT
@@morinor1340 new strategy. As in, people weren't really charging with the shield like this when the game launched. decino didn't in his UNM run, for instance, but it's clearly more common now as a default strategy for UNM.
@@n00f i suppose its more popular now that its been brought up by peter & ducino. But people definitely have been using the shield way before that. And even now shieldbullying isnt that much of a important strat for UNM runners since its slower than PB combos.
I found it funny you upgraded the tyrant to tier D in Nekrovol part 2 because if you ice bomb right as the fight starts he will just straight up fall to his death Great video though! Was looking forward to it for a while now and you did not disappoint!
At 20:19, you can actually skip this fight by going to a spot on the back of the exit portal, it will teleport you without requiring you to complete the fight. Don't rely on this however, sometimes it may bug out and show you teleporting but you'll just stay in the same place. Edit: With the release of the Mars Core Master Level, this has been patched.
@@rhythmmmmm. 2016 shotgunners only really got dangerous if you let them sneak up on you in later levels. Other than hat they're pretty much chainsaw and stun bomb bait
I've been waiting for this video since Eternal came out, super happy to see it! My only nitpick is that you put Archviles in B tier, but you also make a point of saying to kill them as soon as they show up and use very valuable resources (Crucible) on them. Seems like an enemy that deserves your full attention should be A tier, even if the game does give you resources to kill them quickly. :)
Peter: Take this specific path in order to grab this power up, then make sure to prioritize the Caco that will fly towards you. Make sure to have enough ammo before the next fight, and focus on dodging. Decino: just kill them lol
@@fruitylerlups530 i disagree Its fast has secrets you can hold a bunch of weapons and you need to manage health and ammo way more then other fps games Also no reloading even though that doesnt define the genre Its a retro fps in everything but year it was released
very entertaining and informative stuff even after playing the game for so long tbh, hopefully we might see something like this with the dlcs factored in at some point
This is probably the first time that two monsters have shared the Tier SS spot! Also, I love how you shoot footage of the topic at hand; ergo, the pacifist runs showing you trying not to kill monsters, the tier lists being very on-point on a moment-to-moment basis, showing exactly what each power-up does, etc. If I ever end up doing video game reviews, I'm going to use your analysis videos as my inspiration!
Arena Mancubus fight in Cultist Base, you can get on that slightly raised platform in the middle, and just jump out, pop a mancubus, and dash back onto the raised platform. You can easily defeat them this way if you didn't save chainsaw gas, just be quick because if they get into position to shoot you while you're on there you need to get down, but in my UNM attempts this never happened.
@@ammanus356 ah i see you're the toxic part of the doom community. The frame rate elitist. First off, outside of cutscenes its a stable 30fps, and secondly, we really don't need people like you in the community, so do us all a favor, a kindly fuck off
Thanks decino and Peter. I just got Doom Eternal last week and instantly fell in love with the game. I tried ultra nightmare and completed it today thanks to your guide. It reminded me to use ice bombs, crucible, and blood punch on heavy demons. Using the machine gun’s shield to bully was something new that helped a lot. 🤘🏻Rock on
This exact kind of quickshot notes of the game's levels and specific encounters is exactly how I beat Ultra-Nightmare myself. I played each level on Nightmare on a separate save file taking notes about each thing I thought was important to know about a fight, and then repeating that run again on my Ultra-Nightmare file. It's so cool seeing other people's notes on this game.
half of the marauder fights have a billion mecha zombies spawning infinitely around him, shooting directly at him, making him bring up his shield and dragging the fight for longer than it should and i HATE IT
beat this finally last week. feel so certified now. thank u Decino & Peter for the tips =) as well as all the fantastic Doom content throughout the years. I personally was more scared of Khan Maykr than Gladiator & Icon during my run, but tier list has been on point. Prowlers are well placed here, hate those frickers.
4:24 "This arena is s tier if you happen to be a game journalist". This a very funny reference to Dean Takashi, the same guy from the cuphead tutorial.
