Though nothing beats resident evil 1, you have your body pressed up against anything and everything hoping that it will eventually say "F" and you can find something vital to the campaign

thats one thing i didnt like about the new doom is that they replaced arch viles with "summoners". its basically the same thing too except they fly and teleport

Brandon Withnell Yeah, it was kind of silly. I looks like they tried to make the Arch-Vile at first, but realized that they didn't fulfill their "new enemy" quota, so they added a headdress, butterfly wings and colored it purple to make it something else.

TheGrayMysterious im fine with them creating a new demon too, but i wish they would have given it a more creative name than summoner, thats a description not a name XD but then again i guess the pinky was originally just demon in the original doom before fans called them pinkys

They should have kept the name "Arch Vile", "Summoner" just sounds kind of lame.

Meh, Arch-Viles were pretty rare and far between. They're a proper pain to fight sure but not a big deal when you do encounter one. Pain Elementals however... Fuck those things.

Halo took nods from doom. Halo is set in the marathon universe, that game came out about the time doom was out. I think it is a general nod to the era that birthed these games.

A. Madar Doom 4 was amazing at first, then got continuously less and less enjoyable each time I came back to it. Honestly I much prefer Doom 3. It’s still a great game, but Doom 2016 does a couple key things wrong that made me quit that game. Mainly, the nightmare difficulty is artificially hard where enemies get cheap kills on you because they just made it so one hit from anything takes out 90% of your health. To make matters worse, if you play the arcade mode on any difficulty other than nightmare, you’re fucked because there’s a bug that changes your save state’s difficulty to whatever you played that one arcade mission on. So if you invested hours to finally get somewhere on Nightmare mode and just felt like playing a casual Ultra-Violence one day for a change, too bad. Now you have to start all over. And there’s no cheat to jump to whatever level you want and start from there like in original Doom and Doom 2.

If DOOM 2016 was one of if not the best fps games of that year, DOOM Eternal is one of if not the best fps games of all time

@@spencersanderford7518 It has ruined other FPS games for me. I'm not really that good at videogames; I usually play on medium difficulty. 80% through Doom Eternal on Hurt Me Plenty and now I only play other games on hard, and they're still kinda boring and easy.

Tiberius16 I admit the multiplayer is defiantly something that needs improvement. Though I've never personally played DOOM for multiplayer, my condelences go out to those who would've enjoyed a better one.

Let's be honest: the original games are a good starting point. They're okay, but I believe they can serve as the foundation to something bigger and better. Doom 2016 showed how their simple run-gun-fun formula can be improved, and Doom: Eternal is taking it a step further. And it's not just the official games. There's some really good Doom mods out there like Brutal Doom, Project Brutality, Lieutenant Typhon, and Guncaster that add to and improve the classic's basic formula. Not to mention other games in the genre that have innovated on their own like Dusk or Amid Evil. Imagine Doom with the movement mechanics of Titanfall, as in full-on grapple and jet rig alongside recharging high-tech equipment like holograms and active camo. Or varying from running on the ground to flying around in a jetpack to shoot flying enemies (like in Dark Void). As in actually incorporating the 'fly' cheat into the map design, enemy behavior, and gameplay loop. Or even just a deeper narrative element, something lighter and less gritty than Wolfenstein. Doesn't have to be in the Doom franchise, or even a full-on RPG, but imagine something like Mass Effect as a retro shooter. Where you follow a badass protagonist and a colorful band of characters on their universe-spanning shenanigans from one daring adventure to another. The story could be simple and linear, but a simple and linear story filled with emotion, character, and power. It would certainly take the backseat so the focus is on the gameplay, but there could definitely be more narrative depth if the player went looking for it.

It's completely inaccurate to the games, and the originality really made it worse to the oldschool fans. Alien virus over actual Hell demons was a serious letdown.
