@@decino I'm guessing you're using OBS, right? You're using the hardware accelerated codecs? Also, if you're using OBS, you could record two separate audio tracks. One for the game audio, and one for the mic audio. That way you could sneakily edit out loud sneezes without anyone noticing. ;)
@@supra107 OBS and hardware accel codecs, ye. I'm not familiar with non-MP4 video formats and their qualities. MP4 doesn't support multi tracking, so I never bothered.
@@decino I just checked something with OBS, and I've managed to record an .mp4 file with two audio tracks: one with the system sound and one with the microphone sound. It also imports both of those tracks into Premiere Pro no problem. Maybe you should test it out, because it seems it is possible to pull off.
I love when the RU-vid algorithm recommends some vintage Decino content - hard to believe it’s been 2 years since this series, but I think I’ll be doing another Hell Revealed 2 rewatch. :)
Dude I am absolutely loving this playthrough. It's super relaxing to watch. I'm sick atm myself and watching this makes me forget all about it lol. I'm almost finished watching all of your Doom videos I think.
Wow, a week ago you reached 1000subs. And now, your channel is almost 10k subs. I play your videos as my background sound, while i'm doing homework. Good Job!
Props to you for recording while not being able to breathe through your nose. When that happens to me I can't focus on anything except for not being able to breathe.
Playground is probably the testing area for slaughterwad practitioners. Good to see you have some fun. As always, infighting and virtually infinite bfg and rockets make anything fun. Around 88 archviles, 25 cybers, 1651 total monsters and still manageable. This is one of the few hr2 maps i really like 👍. As you said, it is designed well and can be played in many ways. One way is to activate many or all monster traps and run around killing archies. Other is the step by step what you did. Prefer the latter here.
So for this level I think: Step 1: Keep moving Step 2: Get the BFG Step 3: Get Plasma Ammo Step 4: Fire BFG Step 5: Repeat Steps 3-4 until total destruction
I hid up the stairs in the corridor near the key and let the enemies take each other out, it saved thousands of plasma shots. This is a rinse and repeat tactic as the enemies can't get in there, so it works whenever multiple enemy types are attacking you.
When I think Hell Revealed II, there are 5 maps I always come back to and I feel they are the five best maps. Map 13 "Hardcore", Map 23 "When the Heavens Fall", Map 25 "The End is Nigh ", Map 29 "Hell's Cauldron", and Map 32 "Playground"
20:26 when decino is desperately asking you to pass the sausage Absolutely glorious and entertaining slaughter. I love how this is just a reward level because they shove all those cells and rockets in your hands and go:"There are things in this world that must be erased" Are you using OBS to record by the way? I remember in some older GZdoom(I know it's glboom-plus) builds if you didn't open up OBS first before opening the source port then for some reason OBS would just never take the available memory that it needed. also running it in display capture I know was another option.
Usage of the BFG reminds me of a quote from Civvie11's video on the orignial three episodes of the first Doom. "Absolutely it's overpowered. But if you're going to call something the Big Fucking Gun you better deliver."
Without a doubt one of my favourite maps in this wad A map doesnt need to be hard to be fun :D and with that I'm officially caught up on all of your videos. Cant wait for the next upload!
Your Doom skill never ceases to amaze me. I've gotten all the Doom games since I discovered your channel. I've played through them all and I have been checking all of your older videos as well as watching the new ones you post, looking for Doom wads I can check out and play for myself. I'm not crazy good but I do play on ultra-violence. I was wondering if you know of any good starter wads that aren't too difficult or too easy. I want a fair challenge to get better and start to play through the more difficult wads.
I'm one of those who like slaughtermaps. I'm not a huge fan of Hell Revealed 2 though because it took the "fill all empty space with monsters" approach to a level that hurts the gameplay for me, but give me some Combat Shock or Sunder any day. (The exception is Map27, since that level is great. Looking forward to seeing that one eventually)
This video reminds me of the levels that another RU-vidr played years before you uploaded this video. This doom WAD has nothing on the other WAS that I saw. Talk about a MULTITUDE of enemies! I think that it took more than one hour to complete a single level years ago. I forgot the RU-vidr's name.
You can download a file called SF2011TOD that changes that copses from the cacodemons into smaller versions. I think it came with Slaughterfest2011 as a file made by TimeOfDeath one of the mappers. I always use that file for slaughter maps
A good slaughter map for the first part of the map. And yeah you said it's easy. And it could be really easy in the first half, when you know how doom enemies act, if there were not the baby spiders coming for you and disturbing the rhythm of the player who clean the platforms one by one and then maybe get zapped xtimes in one go by the flameboys. Very good monster placement. In the second half when everyone is coming for you its more luck based beside good skills are of course needed. So a good map with has its better part in the first half. Thanks for sharing decino. 👍👊🤘❤
People may dislike slaughter maps, but Playground has become one of my favourites. Nothing beats coming home from a long day of school to do nothing but BFG spam!
I lowered the volume quite a bit, it was very loud. I'm not familiar with TAS and I don't think I have the patience for it. Watching TAS demos is fun though.
The developers of this WAD really like mirrowed maps and balance, uh? I noticed it's quite the theme of it, having so many maps that need to have sectors mirrowing ach other.
Hello Decino, as I see the first video and this last one, (maybe no one notice this, but me) there are clipping dead monster corpse problem here and there (when an enemy is dead, its sprite is clipping , go "within" the floor). I do not know which port do you use, probably GZDoom, but there can be an option for this. You can find in the option menu(OpenGLOptions) "Adjust sprite clipping". The default setting maybe smart or something like that, but this is not "smart" enough to do the trick. You can set it to "Always" and the problem is gone. You can see it in realtime if you are viewing a corpse and adjust this settings in the menu or you can use console command "gl_spriteclip". This and other settings wiki can be found here : zdoom.org/wiki/OpenGL_options. Anyway, It is fun to watch your vids and learn some tricks and ideas how to beat old but gold games like these in hardcore difficulty. Also like vids about the Dooms RNG and other technical findings. I find these old times tricks and techniques very interesting. Keep up the good work and most important, Have fun . :)
@@decino Well, I do not have experience with that source port. After some googling (is this a phrase now ? :D ), I found this problem exist because of the OpenGL render methods. www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/45123-opengl-sprite-clipping/ It is not a game breaking bug of course, I just always set that when I try new version or older version of GZDoom ( I do not know why it is not the default setting), or when my settings are messed up and do a "factory reset". In my opinion, this source port do not have any option or a fix this problem..yet. Or maybe Hell wants to drag their dead soldiers back home to resurrect but the overwhelming power what DoomGuy release to Rip and Tear can not allow that ... so they are struck between dimensions :D
Now that is a really carnage (carnagous?) level. Just throw big green balls that emit invisible daggers that pierce through metal, skin and flesh alike perfect!
Parabéns e como sempre merece o meu like.👍
I actually found your channel on your beat doom without firing video, from my previous comment would you do it as a subscriber goal or something? I realise after thinking a little about how the playground maps work It would require you to fire at least a few times I still thought something like this would be really cool anyway have a good day mr decino :D
decino, your game runs so smooth...well, can you tell proper settings to make glboom-plus run the same? I've managed get a bit closer with 8-bit video mode, but I hope it can be done better) Anyway - nice playthrough) I really enjoy your content!
You can uncap the framerate in glboom-plus in the options menu. Any machine that isn't made before the 2000s will at least run Doom at 60 fps that way.
@@arbys5509 once done with HR2 I will. Just gotta find a way to let viewers submit level requests with some kind of method to filter out joke/impossible/too diffcult wads. Gotta brainstorm a bit.
I meant to say this when I actually watched this video, but I forgot: I had a bit of a moral quandary of an epiphany when I watched this video. Are the demons in _Doom_ sentient? Do they think independently? Do they feel? Do they _dream?_ I prefer to think that they're just mindless hellspawn. Helps me sleep better at night. Especially after witnessing something like _this…_ 👀
2:23 not many people like slaughtermaps? were they unpopular around that time? or am I just out of touch. I always thought they were the most popular type of map.
How can you control doomguy so well I mean when I play it I stop then shoot but how can you dodge the cyberdemon missile with so ease. *do you use a controller to play?*
This looks both obscenely fun and mentally taxing. Think I'll need to get my skills up a fair bit more to handle something like this without quick-saves. Related: Anyone here know of a fun mod/WAD for Doom II that's wave-based or ideally Survival style? I'd like to hone my endurance and focus.
Thanls.l for bringing many memories back. The ingame sounds are like an orchestra. No 100% items. It has to be done again :v. How about a pacifist run?
you could improve your BFG usage, you can press fire BEFORE coming off from the wall cover, because it takes 1-2 seconds after that it actually fires. also it doesnt matter where the projectile goes, at the moment of its impact DOOM only checks what monsters are visible for the player and does get the damage.
The projectile trajectory matters a lot because that's the direction the tracers are shot to. You can face your back to the monsters and still hit them with the tracers.
first time when I beat this map, I used to climb platforms to kill revs and barons in beginning while in invul.sphere, resulting I had to fight with archies and other extra monsters in the beginning of the map and it was insane hard for me. Btw I still have no idea how to reach these fucking megaspheres on columns of each platforms, any idea? Sacrifice yourself from an archvile jump?
Can you do it in pacifist mode? That is the video that brought me here. Also, I have tested the arch-viles they do have a limited re-spawn rate. It is close to fifty however. Praise be to John Romero for iddqd or else I would not know that.
