There's a reason you had to "die" in the last level of Episode 1. According to the story in the SNES instruction book, Episode 1 takes place on Phobos. Deimos, Mars' other moon and the setting of Episode 2, mysteriously disappeared not long after the invasion started. After killing the Cyberdemon and finishing Episode 2, you learn that Deimos floats above Hell itself. THAT'S where Deimos went after it disappeared...HELL. Dying at the end of Episode 1 ALSO explains how your character was able to get ONTO the Deimos base in the first place
BlackFox0911 Oh shit. I never thought of it like that. You die and go to hell (Deimos). I always thought you simply teleport to the Deimos base. But that’s a way cooler explanation. And they say Doom doesn’t have a story. The writing for Doom 1 was actually rather good. There’s a difference between bogging the player down with long, never-ending cutscenes about a nonsensical plot and then communicating a lot of story in a paragraph or two or text.
I prefer to think doom guy went on that portal brought him to a dark room full of demons and doom guy rip and teared his way out of that situation, to find out he's in hell, kinda like what happened in the comic of doom when he was in that room.
I could never figure this out as a kid. 37 years old now and I realize I beat the game.. I tried everything.. I ran along all the walls hitting spacebar trying to see if I missed a room.. I tried codes in the room where you get killed.. I just didn't realize this is how the game ended
DooM never gets old. It's comfort food gaming. Something you can always come back to time and time again and still have the same enjoyment as before. Good times. ❤
I just finished it, and was staying on the platform to kill them with rockets. then I took what I thought was a leap of faith, and was like...maaaaannnnnnn -_-
when the time to kill the boss came, after pressing that button, everything turned black I've shooted rly quickly and I killed the boss with a one shoot i didn't even had a chance to see him after that it just showed me the credits oh god why me?
Same thing here, in first time when i was already ended up this game, i thought Its just it, but second, i wanna searching out how to winning out the last room, cuz theres a speedrunner who ended up without getting killed on last room, Gosh this is kinda deep, i mean, bruh 😓
@@ano6620 No... When the room turns black the episode automatically ends once your health goes below a certain % You didn't kill anything. Your health just instantly dropped below that %
What's so sinister about the end teleporter is that it uses the image of the Icon of Sin, the fact that his presence was always there even before Doom 2 yet we never noticed; completely unaware of what was awaiting for us at the end.
Doom Guy doesn't technically die. Its been said by John Romero that in one of the ending concepts where you played as a different character that you would have been killed by the boss. But in the final version of the game doom guy just goes to hell, where you continue to play as him in the next one.
i remember when i played this on pc. i tried to be slick and use the iddqd chest code for God mode while using the bmfg gun. God mode turned off as soon as i entered and i was only able to enter the code in one more time before it was disabled for good until i died lol
actually ya know ..... in the final hole monster also hit each other. ive used to try repeat iddqd again and again and wait until they all hit each other till all of them gone.... then u will die anyway due to thebfloor that u stan will consume ur hp LOL
Same i was playing this game every time i go To My grand parents house 20 years ago. Always thinking i cant handle the ending level. I just learn today i was ok :/
@@Obscilationwww Don't lie. The floor damages you as well and there is no way out of that room. The only way to beat this level is to have your health drop under a certain % in the dark room.
The only level that I didn't survive is the nightmare level. In seconds, I'm already defeated. By 2006, I got hooked on Battle Realms. Doom 93, Fury 3, Battle Realms amd Call of duty 1 are my favorites. I don't like the new popular games right now.
+TheDanimator's Channel When the game first came out Dec 10/1993, the first Episode was put up online for download as shareware aka FREE just like Wolf 3D, Commander Keen and other ID/Apogee games (Doom was not made by Apogee, Wolf 3D was ID's last game for Apogee which is now 3D Realms btw, trivia for you). So they basically gave the first 3rd of the game away for free. Then if you wanted the rest there was a number you had to phone to get the rest of the game and it came on floppy disks. So yes, this is the first 3rd of the game and yes this was the first ending of DOOM. The next level The Shores of Hell ends after killing the Cyberdemon and you find out that the other moon base Deimos is now floating over hell. In the last Episode Inferno you are in Hell itself and you have to kill the Spider-Mastermind. You find a door which leads you back to Earth. DOOM II then came out in retail stores since the original was a big hit. Also DOOM got re-released after DOOM II came out, in retail stores as The Ultimate DOOM which added a 4th Episode Thy Flesh Consumed which ends with you finding out that The Spider-Mastermind sent the legions of hell to Earth and killed your pet rabbit Daisy. Only issue with this 4th Episode is that it contradicts DOOM II's story (from the manual) as DOOM II's story begins with you arriving back on Earth from a spaceship to find out that Hell invaded Earth.
I'm confused by this also. I just played Doom 1 for the first time and got to this. After the end screen, is there anything else? None of the buttons will take me off the screen unless I just quit the game. Also I'm pretty sure I saw one last level that I was to do
OhDidYeAye Nope you have to start the game on a new episode manually. This is the last level of the first Episode. You are suppose to die because the story demands it, that is how you end up in Deimos moon base which is floating over hell itself.
Lol, the people thinking this is the ending of the entire game. this is only the ending of episode 1. Doom 1 has 3 episodes (4 if you count the add-on).
Yes this was the ending i was looking for man Great work always loved playing doom as a youngster man great game for me growing up doom 2 Demon Gate all that man right on
