Doomsday (Doctor Who) Cover performed at Bad Wolf Bay, where The Doctor and Rose said goodbye! This Doomsday cover features vocals, guitar, violin, cello!

The Doctor and Rose getting separated and saying goodbye at Bad Wolf Bay is one of the most iconic moments of Doctor Who, brilliantly performed by David Tennant and Billie Piper. Just as Rose is pulled into a parallel dimension, the show's composer Murray Gold delivers one of his most effective soundtracks: Doomsday. It is raw, it is haunting and depressing and fits the scene perfectly. So, in order to do this track justice, I once again invited a few of my musician friends to join me on this cover. Big shout out and thank you to Stefanie J. on vocals, Sarah Bergé on the violin and Aaron Bergé on the cello, who all did an amazing job!

► About "Doomsday"
Murray Gold described Doomsday as the kind of music Rose would listen to while locked up in her room, heartbroken from losing the Doctor. The song was built around a melody that Gold had previously used when Rose first entered the TARDIS in season 1, so bringing back that melody for Rose's departure from the show was very fitting. The song surprised both the showrunner and producers of the show, who had expected a typical sad strings soundtrack, but they loved what they got instead, praising Gold's out-of-the-box thinking.

You are very welcome! And your comment is much appreciated! I can tell you, after the countless hours of greenscreen trickery that I put in for the Shepherd‘s Boy video, travelling to Bad Wolf Bay felt like a vacation... and actually it was just that! I had the idea of doing this video at the actual location and then planned a two-week roadtrip around it. I got to see England‘s south coast, Cardiff, the castle from Heaven Sent, Wales Comic Con.. but Bad Wolf Bay was definitely the highlight of the trip! So no, I didn‘t go there just for a cover, but the cover sparked the idea for the whole trip! :-)

I’m not surprised. Borna has proven that he and his team are dedicated, professional musicians. They should all be household names because of their talent and ingenuity. They have truly added something special to the Dr. Who universe and helped get us all thru the pandemic. And never once did he ask for a single cent. Many would out up a Patreon account and ask for money. I would have certainly donated but he and his team did this out of love for music and for DW.

Also about the castle where heaven sent was filmed.. my family went there without telling me while I was paintball only a few minutes away. I was so mad 😂. Luckily I got to go to the doctor who experience and had a walk around the bay

@@LaurenSpaceTV From the one where they got separated, Canary Wharf in London. It actually was reconstituted in Cardiff nearer to the Rift. The institute has moved from place to place since it was designated as Torchwood by Queen Victoria herself, naming it after the house/mansion they were occupying. (FUN FACT: Torchwood was actually inspired by the production reels that had to be transported between the set in Cardiff with the then-production company in London. They didn't want to risk possible theft of the reels if they had "Doctor Who" on the cases, so they just mixed the letters up into, you guessed it, "Torchwood." Truth!)

Indeed! Not easy to shoot there, by the way, since the beach totally disappears during high tide, so there‘s always a time limit. They must have liked the location‘s look considering they still used it a lot.

While Rose Tyler's departure doesn't get me emotionally anymore, "The Army Of Ghosts"/"Doomsday" is still a legendary finale. With a strong plot and a terrifyingly great showcase for the Daleks, even if the Cybermen really drew the short straw. As MrTardis said, it's a bit too ambitious for its own good, but a fascinating insight into how the population would view a world altering event and some great dialogue for good measure.

I remember hearing this song back in the day in 2006 when I was a 12 year old verging on teenagehood. Here I am now so many years later at 27, still drawn to this song like so many others. It‘s a beautiful spot and it was amazing to be there! We were actually on a two week roadtrip and did some sightseeing along England‘s south coast before driving up to Wales for this videoshoot. We visited Cardiff, too, and the castle that was used for the filming of Heaven Sent. Our final stop was Wales Comic Con, where we almost met David Tennant and Billie Piper!

Thanks a lot! The inspiration came after I had spent a long time doing greenscreen postproduction for the Heaven Sent video. Filming at the actual location meant we had to travel about 850km, but it was much more fun than trying to fake it! :)

Not counting the intro themes themselves (12's, if you're wondering)... That is a good question! I mean, pretty much everything from Heaven Sent qualifies. My third favorite would be the 12's "action theme," (not "A Good Man?" but the one during action sequences; I don't know the name). And for ones that aren't 12 and 10, probably "I am The Doctor." Hey BBC, please get this man the title of Season 13 Composer! Borna, you somehow take Murray's already mind blowing music and somehow take it and you elevate it to all new territory. This is the kind of music I was seriously missing in season 11, not to say s11 had bad music....I just miss this aspect haha.

@@BornaMatosic Yeah man. Im consistently popping your videos open on my lunch breaks to decompress and just let the world melt away before getting back out and dealing with the crap. It's downright criminal your videos don't have more views. It's been a while since I uploaded but, with your permission, I'd love to post a preview of some of your content on my channel. I'd to see how many of the 13k subs I have are still watching and can get them over here to get the word out. Hopefully one day we'll see a time where your channel can support you making more videos like this without all the expense falling on you! Selfishly I hope for a full cover of The Doctor's Theme :D

Wow! I‘m truly honored that my videos have such a positive effect! RU-vid can indeed be frustrating when trying to offer quality over quantity. absolutely amazing! everything about this cover is beautiful. the vocals and every person with the instruments was incredible. the directing and performance leaves such a great narrative for the audience im just so amazed at how this came out. and being able to see the beach again made me cry alongside the talent you all showed. just amazing!!!

I was only seven when Doomsday first broadcast, so unlike many the emotional impact never hit me. Then I discovered this when it popped up in my feed and it drove me to start watching again. I can barely listen to this without suffering from onion ninjas so how on earth I'll manage the episode is...going to be interesting. Knowing what is to come just makes it so much worse. So thank you for this.
