Created in 1992, Doomsday is one of the most notorious Superman Villains and is widely considered to be his deadliest foe due to his genetic attributes and the fact that he dismantled the Justice League on his own before going on to kill Superman in the Death of Superman Story Arc.

Yea after he gains some smarts he starts to fear things which makes him weaker because he isnt over committing and going all out. Then when he learns to not just rage or heros will get him he learns to love and feel compassion which thus leads him tonbeing a hero.

My (admittedly limited) knowledge of Doomsday is that he's not necessarily STUPID - as in, having a low IQ - he just doesn't really *need* to think. If you were stronger than ten trillion nukes and spent thousands of lifetimes solving your problems by crushing or eviscerating them, you probably wouldn't use much brainpower either. He's still got some intelligence, so he probably has things he likes and dislikes, too. Maybe he likes how his hair looks when it's styled.

I remember watching Superman Doomsday when I was younger and being fascinated by this creature. He was the biggest threat Superman had ever faced and even managed to beat him to death on his own. There was no 'master plan' or bigger design, only destruction

Two things not mentioned: 1) Superman died mostly because he used up his stored yellow solar energy during the fight with Doomsday.(1992) 2) The "Doomsday" of "Batman vs Superman" was actually the resurrected and mutated General Zod.

My friend bought that comic when it came out, it was actually the complete comic BOOK, all issues, he let me borrow it in the class's free reading time. It was friggin marvelous. The movie though, nerfed Doomsday so bad, it was one of the the main reasons I hated that movie.

3:15 Unless they made changes to his abilities in the comics, Doomsday never had the ability to fly. He could leap great distances like the Hulk that could appear to be flight, but he couldn’t hold himself midair like Superman can.

There's a shot in BvS where it looks a lot like it's hovering. After getting nuked, when it shoots down Batman. Could just be a shitty angle and model rigging, but it's easily mistaken

oedipa maas BvS changed the origins and lore of Doomsday for the film. In the comics, Doomsday wasn’t a mutated General Zodd and he didn’t have heat vision + heat breath or whatever you call that. So anything in the BvS movie isn’t exactly Doomsday canon.

@@hindsightpov4218 The movie turned Doomsday into a joke. Doomsday was an apex villain worthy of his... it's very own ark. And the movie turned Doomsday into the 'bad guy of the episode'. It's on par with making Darkseid or Thanos a bad guy for one issue and then they're defeated. I think that was my biggest gripe with BvS.

You're referring to the Uruk-Hai, of course. They're actually hybrid beings made by crossing Yrch (Sindarin for Orcs) with Edain (Sindarin for Men) to create creatures that were smarter, stronger, and more disciplined warriors but just as evil as Yrch were.

I think you forgot to mention how as he evolved he started developing intelligence and that actually made him weaker than he was before. As he began to develop, he started having emotions. This lead to him eventually developing fear of Superman. I’m pretty sure they had a conversation where Superman told him that because you are now afraid, you will not be as strong as you were. And then they go there separate ways and he becomes peaceful

Comic doomsday was immune to Kryptonite due to the radioactive state of Krypton early days? since that is what makes kryptonite dangerous for superman. was not Doomsday already immune to it? it was only in the movie he had that weakness due to him beeing infused with Human Dna. i mean zod was immune to the "kryptonian atmosphere was he not?

The genetic cloning creation process for Doomsday was the best storyline, I remember being fascinated with that idea when I first read that comic in the 90s. Right around the time the human genome was being sequenced. They should have used this origin story in Justice League or saved it for Man of Steel 2.

Am I the only one finding Doomsday to be tragic? I mean, think about it. Ever since his infancy, he was forced into a never-ending cycle of death and rebirth by a psychotic maniac who wanted to create the ultimate killing machine. On top of that, the traumatic memory of all his previous deaths caused him to hate everyone and everything in the universe.

I think the only ways besides entropy to permanently kill doomsday are either temporal manipulation to prevent his conception by time travel or reality warping to erase from existence.

Very disappointed that you didn't mention Doomsday literally *PUNCHED SUPERGIRLS FACE OFF* in the comic. And yes I'm aware she was basically just a shapeshifting pile of ooze at the time.

In all honesty I *hate* how they protrayed him in the somewhat recent film, but otherwise he's my absolute favorite DC comics villain of all time. He's simple, just a pure unadulterated titan of brute force, the only one strong enough being the very strongest superhero. The ultimate good versus the ultimate evil. Such a legendary battle is enough to shake *our* Earth, so why wouldn't Doomsday be my favorite villain?
