I've used a similar method except most have been on base / clear paint jobs. If the scratches don't go to the color I just use clear. Excellent tip - excellent job!

Great video and content!! Amazing results, you mentioned solvent paint. Is that a special paint with lacquer mixed in or just normal for body paint? Great tutorials Would it be possible/ feasible to use paint/ clear coat mix to build thickness around the wheel arches where it tends to take a beating from stones as a preventive against the eventual chips that might develop? The paint on my car seems to be thin and stones are plentiful in my area, especially in winter. Thanks!

Hey there. I combined a number of your techniques in stages: just buff; fingertip "massaging " paint in( but used too much paint); as above but wet sand again after second touch up. Worked a treat BUT my sanded area just grew and grew ( I did 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 grit). How do I keep control of sanded area please?

Nice, what about spraying a thin layer of clearcoat to both add a coat to the top of the repaired deep scratch area as well as to thicken up that which was sanded down in the general area. Any tips or preferences on such a clear coat or would you avoid doing this altogether and if so then why?

I let it dry. I would advise leaving it overnight if you are doing it at home and the temps are not very high

I've got a scratch on the edge of my boot lid like the edge of the door frame. Could you you use masking tape to mask off the area so that you're only sanding the damaged area or does that affect blending in the new color with the old areas?

You can either mix with 1k clearcoat on its own or if you have some left over 2k then use that. Paintgear paint contains it's own gloss enhancer
