Hey have you ever run into this problem on the Door Dash platform? I had a stacked order with both orders coming from the same fast food restaurant. I had JUST dropped off one order and after snapping the required photo (it was a leave at door), I was trying to hit complete and it kept loading with no apparent sign of completing. I went to my car to try again since I had taken the picture with my phones camera and not through the app and thought it had finally gone through when I started getting orders again. I thought it was weird because I still had the 2nd order of that stacked order in my car and was trying to head to the 2nd address. I chatted with support to find out that I had some how inadvertently hit complete on the 2nd order as well. Totally flustered, I asked them what do I do now...and she told me she could only reset the order as not delivered and cancel it. This has NEVER happened to me as it usually eventually completes the order. My husband who also dashes thinks I was just in a bad signal area. What do you think??

keep in mind. if an order is taking you out of your area, the miles are doubled as you have to drive back. ......and apartments, townhouses, hotels, and office buildings SUCK!!

Yess!,gated apartments are such a hassel,(especially when they give us confusing directions or we gotta wait til someone opens the gate)..Doordash should pay us extra charge for having to do those damn apartments,lol. It's always confusing where their room number is..at times im frickin walking around lost..especially when I already have a second order I gotta get to already,lol.

Especially delivering to complexes where they have buildings with no ascending unit number system and to top it off there are multiple entrances. I have done several deliveries where the next building jumps to a different number instead of numbering te building in chronological order.

@@JB-bi6vm totally agree,especially when the Google map,keeps directing me to the wrong entrance. So when I find out the address I gotta deliver to..im like dang it,I got them apartments(even if I'm starting to get use to doing them,its still usually always such a hassle anyways,lol).

I actually love hotels. The nice ones at least. You can park right out front, there's easy to redirectional signage, and there's always an elevator.

thats why after trying to call & text, you hit "customer unavailable" and let the clock go. When the timer is done, leave the food in a safe (or safe enough) location, snap a picture and leave. At least thats what my husband and fellow dasher says.

You guys ring the door bell? I never do that unless instructed. I leave it take the pic and bounce. Most people are waiting for you to leave anyway. Their hungry and waiting, their phone is going off that your pulling up and that the food is delivered and people have dogs that lose their mind if you ring the bell. Why be that guy. Just my opinion

Omg! So.....last night they sent an offer for $7 at subway 3.2 mi....I accepted. And it was 2!!! Pickups , dropoffs in 2 different directions! And I was on $1 peakpay. So they got me ! I was very disappointed 🙄

Old video but since its still relevant, as a customer in a relatively confusing apartment complex, I wrote out not only that there is a comprehensive and giant map at the entrance to my apartment complex with all the buildings and apartments on it in big font, but also quick directions to my building. I used to have problems with dashers dropping my stuff off at the wrong building but after writing some simple directions, I have yet to have a dasher deliver to the wrong apartment again.

I like the way Grubhub handles orders like the one with no unit number. Try to contact the customer, start the timer, continue to try and contact the customer while the timer is running, and if the timer hits zero, the food is yours. I always contact driver care while the timer is running and have them try to contact the customer as well, that way I can show that I did everything possible to complete the delivery. I have gotten some pretty good free meals because customers don't answer their phone, or respond to texts.

DoorDash used to let drivers keep the food before instructing them to leave it in a safe location. I got a free poke bowl from a customer cancel AFTER pick up once.

Awesome vid. Thank you for sharing. I have a question. Are the miles showed to the drop location before you accept one way? If they are one way then getting back should also be a factor, right? So 4 miles 8.25$ would be 2.06 /Mile which is great but if that does not include your return you are faced with close to 4-mile return making your dollars to miles 1.03$ which is still not bad but you see where I'm heading with this.

4:01 I noticed the stacked order you have shown, for my first week I had a few stacked orders that way where the restaurants were close by then both the customer residences was literally right around the corner from each other, both times was $20+ for both orders combined, so I always accept those because total miles was 5 miles or less

stopped at a chinese restaurant just today at 11:10am they told me i would have to wt 15 min for the rice to finish, i got up cancelled and had another order in under 2 min, DD wont pay for waiting and im not waiting. I just think there should be a way to cancel an order after a specific time of waiting without taking a completion hit

I had a 45 min wait for a $6 order never again. Wasted an hour for $6. Normal waits in my area are around ten min. Great video. Very informative

Today I took an order and followed the GPS, to the road saying, "bridge out" with a detour sign. So I call the customer and she finally answers, and directs me around the detour. ;( She tells me go through the detour signs and it's the gravel drive way. I see the address on the mail box, and I am in BFE. So I take my picture, get back in my car, take another order, the lady calls me back and tells me she didn't get her food. I politely told her where I dropped the food off, she told me it was the wrong house, by then I'm headed back to my next order. I just told her to call doordash. So I filled out my form the DD sends you, and hopefully I don't get deactivated. I do have Kover. fingers crossed.

With a stacked order, I will sometimes accept them to see how much each individual order pays. But I often dont like orders that are stacked like THIS. DD stacks orders like this a lot when one of them is (or both are) a low paying delivery and no one would accept it, so they sneak it in like this. For me, it mainly depends how much extra time it will take to drive to each restaurant, park, go inside, pick it up, get back in the car, etc. That will likely end up taking 7-10minutes each. And then if the drop off is in an apartment complex or hotel that involves having to circle the complex trying to find the building or having to go up to their room etc. Another 10+ minures each. After considering all of that, I will either keep both, unassign one, or even unassign both.

Stacked orders are tricky. Cause the customer can see you have their item and are driving around to other places. I had a lady texting me asking why I was stopped

I have definitely been given stacked orders that look like that. The sneaker ones are for the same restaraunt, and you think it's a single order, but it's actually 2.

Hey nice video l, on those longer wait times at restaurants if the restaurant says the wait time is longer then 10 minutes i inform the customer and contact dasher support they will adjust my delivery expected time and often throw some extra change my way lol.

Your Driver Mike Yes it is they after you leave the restaurant calculate the amount of time you were there from when you marked arrived to when you mark picked up and send you a message saying we noticed you spent some extra time here, heres x amount ( usally only like .50 cents or so) for your time. not very much but still a little something lol.

The one time a customer was unreachable and claimed I didn’t deliver her food, DoorDash only paid me half of the pay after talking to customer service for 30 min. I was just glad I didn’t get a contract violation.

Today i acually had a order come in and then minutes later when u arrive for order. I get another order request from next door restaurant. Yes I accept it. The drop off was on the same road way of the first order lol. Eazy 14$ i made lol and for apartments are the hardest to find the addres especially those with no building numbers but always contact customer minutes before arriving. Its a hastle.

Those are pretty ideal if a stacked order is just 'additional yards' instead of additional miles. As far as finding the customer that is a pain because we want to get in and out

the worst one for me was an extended stay motel that was hard to see anything. customer came out to me... but no tip. At all. I was (hell, still am) learning about eyeing those orders. The other night I had two apartments, but luckily they were easily found. The GPS gives me a good indicator of where exactly it is (the apartments were separate buildings) so I knew it was one or the other, and mailboxes helped . Also numbers on the buildings (they were facing to the side). Found it. Another one was a duplex area apartment thing on a giant hill. Lower level. Table out front. Easy!! THat hill though was a bit dizzying.

I will spend 2 minutes looking at the apt map at the entrance. Helps with smooth drop offs. I've always had the unit # though so far.

Had app # but not the letter # of building, and lady kept saying there are no letters on the building, finally found building and pointed to the huge A on building, she said I'll give you a tip on app and of course no tip.

There's an app that shows you the layout of a complex and where your building is if you enter the address and apt#. It's called "Beans" and it's available for Android and iPhone. After you enter the property you can see your marker on the map and it moves with you.

Mike I’m having a problem with my door dash app , I’ll click the 4 steps to dash enough gas etc and once I hit start dashing I get messages saying. Oops ! The data couldn’t be read because it is missing

Nice video mike, i feel the main things for that eat my time are prolly waiting at restaurants i waited about 30-40minutes at a place one time... only got 6.50 for it lol also sometimes waiting on customers but mainly restaurants.

Wow 30-40 minutes! I'm sure my longest wait was near 30 minutes as well, only thing I can think of is show it's crushing my revenue per hour. The longer you wait the harder it is to cancel I feel since you're already deep into it

You can get extra pay from doordash support for having to wait that long. You can call them or use the chat and they will credit your account around 4 or 5 dollars

Mike, someone in a Facebook group said the minute you arrive at a restaurant, if the order is not ready, use the app and say order not ready-no matter what time you get there-should you do this?

If there is a significant delay in the order, you should let door dash know immediately. With another delivery company, I would often ask for monetary compensation and I would often get it. There's also a link in the app if to let door dash know the order is delayed.

I have sworn off What-A-Burger because of the extended wait. I waited 24 minutes just to get to the speaker to order for $6. They will not let DD drivers inside so you have no choice but to sit there. I thought the lady that ordered was pretty smart. I would pay someone a few bucks to sit in that line for me too if I ate that stuff.

I have an app called "Dasher utility" and basically you can put in your settings for what you want, then when an order comes up that meets your criteria, it will automatically accept it for you. It's a really great app to use. Unfortunately only available on Android.

May I ask, what happens if an order is misdelivered? As in the driver somehow is unable to properly locate the home and delivers it elsewhere (which often can be proven via picture) but not due to buyer error, but deliverer error? Does the driver get to retain the amount they agreed to receive if Doordash processes a redelivery? And does the new driver get any tip? Thanks in advance

Wud some sorry soul call devs at DDASH so they can make the mileage numbers int the app MUCH, much larger. That’s all I look for- the bell goes off- I look at my phone- I see miles first I gotta travel, than cash they are paying me. Those traveling miles are small in print on purpose so we don’t pay that much attention to it. BS... it needs to be larger in print...

If I have to deliver to an apartment, hotel or townhouse, I will always ask the customer to come outside and get their order. I’m not getting out of my car to wander around like a chicken with it’s head cut off looking for them.

I drive for Uber and Lyft - but we all know how dead RS is at the moment. I decided to give Doordash a try. The order paid me 3.00 plus a 5.00 tip and took me 47 minutes because the directions to the restaurant were incorrect. Then I had to get out and hunt for the exact house. Don't think I'll be doing this again.

I'm confused. I live in the Burien, WA area. I don't know where I'm supposed to start my dash. I only want to be in that area and not drive miles out of my way. I never see "Burien" in the list of cities. Only things like "SW Seattle or, North Seattle and other cities. Can you help me??? thanks

It will increase the more you dash. They base it on an average 100 deliveries . Just do your best and keep watching videos on the ins and outs.

They do it in nyc but the dollar amount 90% don't match the miles. And the add ons on the fast food spots will be +3.50

I have definatly seen stacked orders that come through all at once. Bugs me because one may have a significant wait time and I strongly dislike making one customer's order late just to pick up another customer's order. Id rather another dasher handle the 2nd order so that both are on time. :)

usually the stack contains one good order and one order for some shmuck that thinks im gonna drive 10 miles for no tip. lately i have been cherry pickn the stacks, if one pays well and is close i do it and if the other is far and no tip i either dont pick it up or i have been known to take food back to the restaurant. fukm no tip no delivery. i refuse to wear and tear my vehicle for 2.25$. its bs that dd lowered the pay. i somewhat understand their reasoning but they didnt take into account that i still have to wait on incompetent ppl at every stop. I would say here in columbus ohio that 75% of my pickups are late at the pickup

I have been faced with making the decision to do Saucey alcohol deliveries...the first one I accepted I received a fat $50 tip but the next 2 no tip at all and only $7 per delivery. It is a gamble accepting these orders because they can not put a tip in the total amount that you see because of the whole ID scan/make sure they are not minors system. What really sucks is that these customers for the 2 $7 alcohol deliveries didn't even wear masks and they didn't respect social distancing. So I was literally putting myself in harms way for pocket change....ugh!!

Hi Kerri, I've absolutely had customers that not only meet me at the door but don't wear a mask. When it comes to pay remember the dollars to mile ratio, I'll take a $7 payout if the miles are small enough. Nice job on the big tip 🏦

All of the orders I get have the apartment number but no code to get in, you can't reach a person with their apartment number so I am always having to call or text the customer. I don't know why with doordash we have to deliver directly to the apartment, Uber makes the customer come to the lobby. For some reason, Doordash customers, here in Mtl, don't tip much.

I never go to Chipotle, because I had to wait over an hour once. (This was when I first started and didn't know any better) I just always decline when they offer me Chipotle no matter how much the money is. I wish they would add that you can choose a store not to go to. That probably would cause problems but I had 2 times where I waited 30+ min to get the orders and the third time I left after 15 min.

I write down the address because sometimes the app sends you to the worng place the other day it had me 4 mile away from my customer this way i can put it in another map app or in casde it crashes like it did a few weeks ago also like to write down the customer phone and then throw the paper away at the end of the dash

On an evening of rainy and windy, I went online and get the stack orders. It was short miles and high pay. So I accepted it. The problems was I got the first order and hit delivery as the directions show in my phone. Then went on to pick second order. The map shows and the restaurant location are not exact. Plus the restaurant display was hard to read. The first line of the name are small and the second line was bigger letter said “Chinese restaurant “. I see that name and I don’t actually see the real name of the restaurant. I call the restaurant they don’t pick up until I call several time. Now I went on delivery for my first order and I got yell from a customer who is waiting for the food for more than half hour. She said she want her tip back. I said “fine”. I understand she was waiting for the food. I would be mad too. But this is not my fault either. I went on delivery the second order which apartment. Then the map screw me up again. The customer location and the map are not the same. The apartment unit are hard to read in a dark rainy day. I spent about an hour just to get that $17 which supposed to be easy route. My take away here is never go on at night. And I’m scared to take the stack order again. Wonder if I have to wait longer time for second order which may delay for the first order.

I just had a very complicated customer and delivery. His house has absolutely no address once I got to the sub, it wasn’t on the mailbox or house and the porch light wasn’t on . The end numbers were 332, the house I found was 333 and to the left of that was 334 so I just figured common sense the house to the right had to be 332. Turns out it wasn’t and the customer took away my tip and wanted me to pay for the meal

im used to waiting 10 to 20 min. if it's more than 15 and they don't have a good eta cuz theyre slammed, ill unassign if the pay sucks. at $10, I wouldn't unnasign. after doing more than 1000 orders in a few weeks, they suddenly started sending stacked orders one day--its a new thing. Stacked orders tend to make me late for the first if not both orders though. they've updated the app and took away the option that you can't reach them

I would still take the stacked orders if the pay is exceptional, your customers are updated on their end so just be prompt and do your best time-wise but you're there for the pay

Hi Mike, I was thinking for the Apartment you went to with no Unit #. I would have Tried to Deliver it to the Main Office if they were Open if not I would have left it in front of the Office. Just a thought

Good thought, at that point I'm not taking any more time for that customer though to be honest. I value my time to get another order. Most all leasing offices are closed when I typically drive as well (after 6PM)

The DD Help page says if an order hasn’t been received at a restaurant to order it yourself and then deliver it. If the customer no longer wants the food how do I cancel the order without my scores being affected? TYIA.

Hi Teresa, if the restaurant hasn't received the order I would text/call the customer first to let them know and inform them that you'll need to order it yourself and there may be an associated wait. If they approve you're good to go. If for whatever reason the customer cancels mid-route AFTER you've picked up the order there's nothing you can do. In that very rare scenario feel free to keep , donate or dispose of the food. If they request you cancel it mid-route route do so and message support letting them know the custom requested a cancellation mid-route and you are requesting full pay for the route. Personally I've never had an order where the customer requested I cancel after I already picked up the order.

How do you deal with orders that involve dropping off on a military base? They're such a pain. OAnd I just do DoorDash as a side hustle, I have a full time 40 hour/week job, as a civilian employee on a US Navy base, so I have full base access already. Off base housing is easy, it's on base that I found out the hard way is not worth it for $4.50.

Good question as we have quite a few bases in the San Diego area. Honestly I've never delivered on base because of that concern. I would imagine they would take your info, ID check then direct or escort you to the appropriate destination.

Both have good suggestions, I use a manual log on my phone, I just record in the notes app the date and miles. As long as you have miles logged somewhere you're good in case of an audit (rare)

I've seen the new stacked double order offer. Very rarely happens. Yesterday a restaurant refused to make an order, 30 mins on phone with Support I ended just unasigning myself just to move on, ugg!

My DoorDash account says "no slots available" when I click Dash Now. There are clearly slots available because it is red and I see scheduled time slots available. Do I have to set up the red card to continue? It let me dash for 2 weeks and now I can't dash at all

I believe you need to set up the red card. If you have received it then definitely set it up, although sometimes red card orders are very difficult/annoying. Goodluck!

Matthew has a good point, yeah I would contact support or just get that RC set up. Or it may be a good idea to contact support immediately anyway so ideally you could drive non-RC orders now.

Waited 40 min at a restaurant the other night. I kept checking in asking for updates and identified myself as the doordash driver and the name on the order. when I checked in at the 40-minute mark they said it would be 20 more minutes. They said they didn't know the driver was here and they just put the order in.

That's tough, some of these apps track the driver to the restaurant as well so they should definitely know you're coming. If the wait is longer than 20 minutes I recommend just cancelling unless it's a huge paying order.

That's a good tip, it is a pain because you've already spent time looking for them and if you haven't started the timer you have to wait an additional 3 minutes

Should've taken ur advice sooner. A Chipotle made me wait 25 minutes and I stuck it out. I completed the order and got paid but I was terribly late. Not my fault, but I'd rather have a lower completion rate than lower on time rate

Your Driver Mike not sure if it's like this for all of them but this particular chipotle had a table basically just inside the front door but still blocking entry to the restaraunt, so you could not communicate with staff in any way. All you could do was wait until they dropped a bag off then quickly ran away and you could check if it was yours. And the order was not large at all. Should not have taken that long.

I found out that if you have to wait too long you can be compensated for that I went to pick up a order from little ceasar pizza it was a batch order so I was picking up 2 orders from the same restaurant had to wait 30 mins called doordash to let them know I was going to be late on the delivery they said no problem they will inform the customer and compensated me a extra 5 dollars per order for waiting

If you combine the cost of gas with the labor shortage (which makes for inexperienced new Restaurant workers, therefore causing a delay) I wouldn't be surprised if Dashers aren't making as much as they used to

there are apps you can download onto your phone and start tracking your mileage (and deductibles) when you start driving for deliveries. I use stride.

There are so many reasons a DD driver should be able to cancel an order. I keep thinking about the Completion Rate percentage dropping. I am at 97% now and it’s driving me nuts. The times I had to cancel were perfectly good reasons. How do I defend my cancelling? There’s no place for comments in the REASON section of the app. to explain. DD Support is not very supportive. I’m usually put on hold until the convo time runs out and I’m cut off of the phone call. Ugh

Hi Teresa, you're doing the right thing, contacting support is the best bet. As long as your CR doesn't get below 80% you won't risk deactivation.
