I got laid off a month ago and gave this a shot. I loved not having a boss and the freedom to work at my own leisure the two weeks i tried it out. But i will say this, i cannot do this full time for a few reasons. One, the mileage i put on my vehicle within that two week span was ridiculous. Theres nothing wrong with my vehicle, but i knew that stacking up mileage this fast was not good for it. Second, the constant stop and go of picking up and delivering all day will burn your gas fast! This job, in my opinion, is designed more for folks that are trying to make extra money on the side part time. I would not recommend doing this full time unless youre okay with putting your car in an early grave and not knowing if youre gonna have a good day in tips or not.

Yeah, I don't know if you have figured this out yet, but in the Phoenix area, it will get about 25% slower in the summer time, because about 25% of the population goes north for the summer to cooler weather. Especially the rich people.

Cave Creek can be very hit or miss. What you experienced is pretty typical. I used to deliver up there quite a bit. Its a pretty chill day though regardless. Light traffic and good scenery. On the best days for that zone you will get orders taking you back and fourth from cave creek to carefree/I 17/ anthem.

Try exploring Flagstaff. It is a mountainous area with cooler temperatures, if you like it better than Phoenix. The temperatures are not as hot.

The downside with that area is that it's so spread out, plus there aren't a lot of late night places around there, and a lot of the high dollar stuff closes at nine or 10 o'clock. Even if I do Costco runs on Instacart from the location on Hayden up to rede etc., I'm at the point where I won't do them for under $50 because of the distance and then the "dead miles" to get back into a busier area. The all nighters seem to be more of a thing closer to old town or ASU. Plus you can get liquor store runs down that way if you do alcohol delivery which definitely helps. 😉

I travel around and dash and always do zones like this. Pros, besides rush hour traffic is a breeze, the restaurants are usually on the ball and nice employees, the orders pay better. Cons, a little less orders, longer mileage, and it drastically slows down after dinner, no point being in these zones after 9 or 10pm. You did right by going back further into the city
