What a sweet momma Reddy is! Everytime I see Dopey I just think he's the cutest baby ever. Then he grows up and he's still the cutest boy ever. I love these Dopey videos every single one of them. Ouch. I can hear how hard his head hit that metal pole. It was pretty loud so I'm guessing he had a bit of a headache. But I'm so proud of him for standing up to that girl twice his size. We need to make "Team Dopey" t-shirts! 😂

Yes I agree with you he still has many lessons to learn but after being pulled really hard by Bossy he did not go crying to Mum but went on to get the better of that big girly. I see good things for young Dopey may have to change his name. :-) Just noticed he actually knocked the food out of that girls mouth

And I don't hate on Bossy, Dopey just learned about staring and holding his gaze a little too long lol. Reddy... submissive but that stance was ready to rumble. At 8:22 if you look close Bossy takes her first jab at Dopey but misses! So she's unsatisfied and takes the big pull at his arm at 8:28 !!! Ah, the wonderful, wild monkey life. 11% of babies don’t make it to adulthood. Tourists are making it worse. In the scramble for access to the food dumps, babies are injured or even killed.

I used to like Bossy, but the way she picks on and hits all the babies that are not hers, turns my stomach. There might be some who would say she deserved losing Bossy jr for the nasty way she treats the others. Maybe another monkey took her baby for revenge.

I've noticed that a lot of the monkeys look around to see who might be watching before they do something that they really shouldn't. LOL It makes me wonder very much about their ability to have those" meta emotions and cognitions" that we seem to attribute only to human primates. You know, like guilt, shame, etc.... Because many, many times I have gotten the feeling that they are actually thinking about what they're thinking about doing. They really are amazing and intelligent. I just wish they didn't have such a caste system. But, regardless, Dopey is going to sneak up on all of them and become an Alpha in another troop one day. I just know it! :)
They definitely experience emotions that some people do not give them credit for..I think much of it though when you see them looking around before they begin to do something is not so much about guilt and such but more about looking to see who is around (a higher ranking monkey for example) so they will know if their behavior is appropriate or not or will they get punished or not!! I do give the credit for many emotions similar to humans but I dont think they really experience shame by any means lol!!

I think Dopey won that round cause the female rather be groom then fight with Dopey. Do you know the name of the monkey doing the grooming to the little female that was fighting with Dopey? She doesn't look right ,her eyes are like half way open and looks like she is drunk which I know she isn't, but she doesn't open her eyes very wide even with the little fight going on in front of her.

Monkeys make terrible pets. No matter how cute and lovable they are as babies, when they hit adolescence the wild animal in them kicks in and they really start to Bite! Of course!, the monkey hierarchy! Biting is the way they establish dominance. I’ve seen the injuries monkeys inflict on each other. Horrifying. What’s the name of that song? Oh yeah, “ Born to be wild.”
OK! now these monkeys are very smart so they, in my opinion, choose to be mean. it would have been difficult to not give the queen a kick in the ribs for hurting my dopey. right or wrong, it ticked me off just watching the video. OK, off my rant lol

bossy looked at the recorder twice. to me that means she was checking if she was going to get in trouble for what she was about to do. yep I would have to step down real hard on her foot when she grabbed doppy and tried to deliberately hurt him as big and fat as she is. she needs to have to sit and watch all the underlings eat for 2 days straight and her get nothing. let her see what being really hungry feels like. other than that she is a great mother. she just needs to be taught compassion for all baby monkeys.

sharon grissom Hi Sharon, when Reddy showed her teeth in this video although she did submit her look was fierce!!! I wouldn't put my hand down to pet her even though its a submission move!!! I like my hand, lol! 😉 I always thought Reddy was higher ranking than Bossy too, however a couple videos back they were on a picnic table when Arroz explained that baby snatcher was higher than Bossy & Bossy is higher than Reddy.
