Dorian was an introvert. The complete opposite if an alpha. Alphas hunt attention. Dorian wouldn't let his training partners see his physique, alphas like arnie, ronnie etc were out shirts off flexing as often as they could. Yates was a recluse, he was never about the glamour, fame n publicity that alphas crave.

Dorian has step on both worlds of body building - the era of lean, cut, and detail (91,92) to the era of mass monsters (93 onwards) and he has succeeded in both during his time. That is what makes him at the top 3 of body building history.

Dorian Yates' body looks like they pulled fucking Hercules from mythology and threw him on a stage. The Ronnie Coleman's and the Phil Heath's are like baloons, blown up on every direction. Yates' on the other hand really gives you the impression that he could rip your head off with his bare hands.

When I trained at the first Gold's Gym in my town (circa 1988, 4000 sq/ft).. I have such distinct memories.. I was drawn to the gym by the monsters and hardcore training. +800 pd deadlifts and +600 pd squats all day. There was a platform built out of 2x10's and plywood for the big lifters. It had a sauna next to the main lifting area so the gym was always humid, but I think it was conducive to warming up and joint flexibility. It drove me to train harder than any other gym. People came from all over to train there. Who wouldnt want Dorian training at their gym.
