I was playing as wisp, we were team fighting in the enemy base. The ancient was really close to death and we almost won but we lost the team fight and the ancient survived. They were coming over to our base to finish us off and we were all panicking! Fortunately I had enough gold to buyback myself and instead of defending, I relocated to the enemy ancient and won the game myself.
Yeah in a game when we were smashing the enemy team's barracks to pieces at the time, IO kept tp'ing all of his teammates into the trees around the map xD
You guys should make sure to stress in the Wisp guide that Wisp will actually move to his target for tether, because it was shown but not really mentioned in this video.
Think about it. As a support who stacks support (Int. boosting) items, if it both boosted his damage, as well as supported like a beast, he would be EVEN MORE powerful.
Other then linking, and the movement buff that's the only thing the two have in common. Karma doesn't have a stun, a Global Ult, A Self Buff Attack speed/Armor Buff, Ability To Bring other units, and a On-Contact Controllable Skill. While Wisp does not have a shield, a Level one Ult that acts with its other skills, and Cone ranged attack.
League of legends copied this Champion recently... they yet need to copy Rubick, Earth spirit, Invoker, Meepo, Visage, Morphling... Although RIOT confirms that, they will not copy Invoker, Meepo, Visage... bcz it'll be too hard to handle them for a league player

BOTH of these games are being described as moba and one of the developers (or some, im nopt sure)of LoL even came from the original warcraft mod that would later be dota, OF COURSE there are going to be similarities

+Khoa Nguyen My biggest problem with that character is the fact that his orbiting star trails remain static as he moves... Look at the way Io's orbs leave a trail that dynamically changes as he moves/expands/retracts the orbs and compare it to the new league character. It looks so off being stiff like that and It throws me off so much

It really almost is. DotA was made very shortly after the release of WC3: RoC and that was in July 3, 2002. But this person definitely hasn't been playing for 10 years agreed.
The tether also increases the target will heal by 1.5x whatever Wisp heals. So if Wisp/Io/whatever uses a mek, then a tethered ally will be healed for 625 rather than the normal 250. Omniknight works wonders with Io.
Tankiness for Overcharge. It also forces Io into a support role as the player has to forego building strength items that boost his damage and instead buy intel so that he can support his team with spells. At least, that's my guess.
One of the most useful uses of tether you forgot (and almost anyone does) is that if Io is healed (hp/mp) the heal is also transfered to the tethered unit. Meaning meka can heal for ~500 hp and arcane boots for ~250 mana.
It's easy to turn wisp into a tank since he's a strength hero. A heart's regen plus tether will give an ally terrasque regen. An armlet isn't a bad choice either. Armlet plus overcharge is an HUGE bonus.
He was still one of the four developers. By what I know Guinsoo picked up development on War3 and combined all of the random DotA versions once FT hit and Eul dropped it, then after a Jass update he gave it to Neschin (or whatever), and then Icefrog iirc.
Because strength gives you HP regen, and Wisp is that kind of support that heals his allies, and for healing he needs his HP regen faster. Is that a good answer for you? )
You haven't really described Tehther well enough.. A very important part is that Wisp will move to the location of the tethered unit and it can also be used on creeps ..
There is reason for that "2" in the name. DotA was released alongside with original W3:RoC around year 2002. All heroes and mechanics you see released until now in Dota 2 are just ports from original DotA. Which is tweaked for year by now by regular patches released every other month. Wisp as hero was released in March 2010 in version 6.68. I do not know which hero you think it is in LoL or when it was released, but it should be easy to find if you point out it's name.
There is something like a Test Client of Dota2 you can download in Steam where the updates are tested before they are released into the Beta we are all playing.
First of all, riot didn't tell anyone anything, no company has said anything, it's just the community that talks trash. Second, many of the developers from Dota (the original Frozen throne mod) went to riot to work on League such as Guinsoo. Granted Valve did hire IceFrog to work on dota 2, most of the main developers followed Guinsoo simply because League came out first.
I'd recommend a hero with a few active skills and mostly passives. Like Skeleton King or Viper. Though the best way to get into it is probably to try out as many heroes as possible to find one suitable for your playstyle. I'd recommend staying away from the more unusual ones like Meepo, Invoker and Chen at first though.
Don't forget, Wisp's HP and MP regen won't carry over to a Tethered ally if Wisp isn't recovering any health or mana. Don't be too afraid to get Wisp beaten up a little so that Wisp and an ally can both benefit from Wisp's heals. He's a Strength character for a reason.
Why didnt you mention, the healing ability of tether? If you heal yourself, while tethered to another unit, it will be healed for the equal amount, which can make for example a mekanism heal double the normal amount (one from itself, and one from wisp). Greets
that's his original dota name. he didn't really get renamed he just got his name back "wisp" is actually part of his title, just like "Dirge" is the real name of "Undying" . i think they did it cause blizzard couldn't sue then for using the original name since "lo" doesn't exist in blizzard games as a character,
You are aware that Guinsoo, one of the most well known Riot Games employees, is known for being one of the developers of DotA when it was a Warcraft 3 mod, aye? Also, the way the spells are played is much different, that would be like saying that Ezreal's blink is the same as Kassadin's Rift Walk since they both are quick short distance teleportation skills.
Tank is different from Durable. Tank has lots of HP/Armor/Resistance, forces the enemy to use/waste their skills/autoattacks on the Tank, a frontliner and depends on their skills to become a tank not on items, while a Durable has lots of HP/Armor as well but they can't take all the damage. (Considering that Dota has skills with overwhelming damage and perma-stuns) You can consider Axe as pretty much a Tank but he needs items to become a tank and he can be easily nuked down.
Theres also the legal dispute for the Sota trademark(in May of 2011 I think it was) between Valve (who said they were developing dota 2) and Blizzard and many Riot Games developers(who had "owership" over the term Dota due to Dota Allstars in Warcraft III: Frozen Throne). Vavle won the legal dispute, and hence forth has the Dota tag. They have stayed true to Dota Allstars while making Dota 2, that's why they're extreamly similar. Just like how the makers of Diablo 2 didn't make Diablo 3.
The Wisp is actually Io not Lo Because in Dota, The names of the heroes are of course NOT common names which means it needs to be spelled with a Capital Letter on the first letter And if you use Guardian Wisp it is spelled Io(eye-o) and not Lo(Lo as in Low without the W)
You didn't mention the fact that when you have sb tethered to you, the terhered unit will have, in addition to his own, Wisp's regeneration rate. Means, if Wisp urns himself, the tethered unit will also gain the urn buff. This is a veryimportant fact and should be added to this introduction! At least in the top comments IYKWIM
For what I know, this only applies for buffs... not debuffs. But the lifesteal should always work on both heroes. That's why Satanic is a core item for whisp :D
It is nerfed because the hero you are supporting will get much less dmg, throughout the whole game. 20% less dmg is alot, crits will be much lower. I really don´t understand why this is hard to take in...
Why? Judging from your comment, I'm assuming you play LoL. Tell me... If there is a hero that tanks damage but poses no threat to the team... Why would anyone focus him? That's right - no one would. Only hero that can make you attack him for a few seconds is Axe, but other than that - heroes just need to survive long enough to play their role. And that is to disable or damage the enemy team.
