Luna was the first hero I ever played in Dota 2 and also was the hero I played my first normal with :) I rushed Aghanims scepter every game because I was like "You can upgrade your ult and deal so much dmg, thats so cool!".
Changes to Luna have been made since this video was released. This list will contain those changes (not including number changes, since they are very frequent) Lunar Blessing: Now gives the primary attribute for heroes instead of just raw damage (strength heroes get strength, agility heroes agility etc). Aghanim's Scepter: Now halves beam interval on Eclipse. You would be surprised how fast it kills people. You are also able to target an area or unit the eclipse will follow, instead of only following Luna. Remember to like this comment if it helped you, and feel free to ask me any question.
Know what I keep seeing from Lunas lately? They max Glaive first, and never get their stun. Yet they continue to level up their ultimate anyways. Their excuse? "It's how I play so stfu"
The ulti used to work off the level of the first ability, then they changed it so the ulti was completely independent. More recently they changed it back to work off the first ability again. A lot of people probably assumed it was still independent.
She's my fave character simply for being able to kill people instantly without needing to do any super complex combos, she's also great for taking on multiple enemy's and if you have some team mates with you she can smash the entire enemy team
I LOVE her accent, her abilities are awesome (I mean, damage aura AND multi-target right click? Come on, if I farm well early on I can wipe creep waves later.) and a beam that doesn't require any aiming or cast time, and an ulti that USES that ability? I mean, even if she was Invoko (Invoker and Meepo at the SAME TIME- like microing 4 Invokers) I'd still play her just for her accent and her freaking PANTHER. This is also the only non melee strength hero I play because she can actually become tanky (if I try, lol Sange and Yasha and power treads set to strength), while still being fast and ranged. I solo'd a not game with a support playing friend and an AI Sven after my two friends left, and we still won all the fights without Sven. I LOVE THIS HERO, I cannot state this enough.
I can pop ulti to initiate, have my team rush out, have the Lucid Beams from the ulti damage all of them then spam glaives EVERYWHERE to kill the heroes, even if there's 5, because one is bound to die or run immediately. I'm looking at you, Puck, and maybe Riki.
I played LoL, and i really liked it, but now ive switched over to dota. It is more complex than LoL, so the skill cap is way higher, but most of the basics are the same. A few things to note: 1) Dont spam your spells in lane. Mana pools are very small at the start. 2) If you are the support, harass the enemy with auto attacks and let the carry get the farm. 3) It is much harder to make a comeback, so ganks are much more effective, since an early gold advantage makes a huge difference
I started playing LoL 2 years ago. And in the past weekend I started playing Dota2. The first thing I noticed is how hard is Dota2 compared to LoL. Even on targeting minions to farm. The second thing is the amount of technices and abilities that Dota2 has, that would be considered broken OP if they existed in LoL. The point is that they arent. Thats why teamfights on Dota2 are really really awesome.
It won't mess up luna, those items worked on her before just the glaives wouldn't bounce. She's a mid-tier at best, this change puts her a little higher, MAYBE but even then, those items are not very standard on a squishy that normally gets played caster like luna in the pro matches.
Question: u and icefrog are mates? or any dude in steam? i mean, im a LoL/HoN/Dota player, i always follow news/spotlighs/tests etc... and i really enjoy ur videos/commentaries man seriously. i think u are the best commentator from those 3 Moba Games so far, they should pay u for this wonderful job, Thumbs up man.
First MOBA was HoN ( never got into WC3 DOTA unfortunately ), Moonqueen, a direct port of Luna from DOTA 1 was one of my best. This addition makes me happy.
It has never been disabled by Icefrog, it just caused some bugs with the wc3-engine. That's why you recieved warnings in DotA when picking Luna that certain Orbs would cause her attacks to completely malfunction.
im pretty sure they do, but shes not picked as a hero to synergise with him because the night lasts for a few seconds, plus night stalker's ult elongates night anyway, so her making it night for a few seconds doesnt really help
Actually I do think it is because dota is still in beta. You can only play it if you get invited by a friend or by valve. Valve only gives out an invite after you do a survey for them and it usually takes a few months before they get to you and invite you, so I think that's why the community is still growing slowly,
its very hard to pick it up especially if you havent played even hon b4 like i had.but once you get used to it(dont give up after 1-2 months)you will see how rewarding it is while the uniqueness of every singe hero will amaze you.if you are bored of playing champs with very similar mechanisms dota is the game for you.just dont expect to be on the same lvl that you were on LoL ofcourse.and in dota if you really want to become better except knowing the heroes you must understand your own mistakes
it depends.. you still have short range and if you are up against drow/techies/lina/lion that can stun you and right click you to death, you need to stay at a distance to survive and moon glaive will help you to last hit/harras better at least thats what i do (if you are in this kind of situation skip 1-2 lvl in lunar blessing and go like 3 in glaive)
I understand that Dota was originally a Warcraft 3 mod, but alot of the champions can be cut and pasted from the game whether it being abilities or character design. This is not necessarily bad in my mind though, gives me a sense of nostalgia for Warcraft 3 and their are certainly enough champs that they have made their own, even Luna.
I thought so too, but he said it's a passive ability. And i think you can if you just take a level of Lunar Blessing at 1 then the next 2 points in Lucent Beam and the switch back and forth between the two until level 13(getting ulti at 6 ofc).
Moon Queen is the same is Luna from Dota you mean to say, because Luna was a hero in Dota before moon queen was even an idea. Also, HoN is pretty much Dota, and LoL is very diferent from Dota and HoN, so you can switch from HoN to Dota easily.
I have played dota actively from 2006, tried out lol in late 2009, played it for about a week before getting bored and going back to hon. I got a dota 2 betakey 11/2011 and havent played that many games of lol since.
I never said anything about the bounces. The difference is that now even though it will activate like once per wave it will still make her pushing power just insane. Kinda even comparable to Sand King and Anti-Mage/Void with Battlefury .. And of course let's don't forget Dendi's 6 battlefury Ursa ....
YO SUNSFAN! another good vid, just some constructive criticism here... if u do comparison, like when u get agnims, could u possible have a overlay of the before and after effects? i.e. the before agis hits, then after agis no. of hits , along with with the other improvements :) keep up the good shit
you can still avoid it on the original dota by hiding on blindspots but its tricky because if you get hit youve been ministun and you wasted precious time to escape(unless you have invisibily or fade), I dont have dota2 beta so im not sure about the mechanics and skills were change but if your luna and your enemy has invisibility you should always bring dust that if they attacked you
I've played both games and I find LoL is easier. Most of the heroes' abilities might seem more simple than LoL's, but they have lots of interesting ways of interacting with each other or interacting with the terrain itself. The number of spells cast in dota2 teamfight is less than that in LoL and therefore dota2 teamfight is more focused on timing and teamwork. Denying is very important in Dota2, you can deny your creeps, towers or even teammates under the effect of certain spells.
Refresher Orb is better used on nukers with large manapool, it wont work that well on Luna since she is meant to play as a carry, a hard carry and Luna wont have enough mana to activate Refresher and use another ulti. Luna needs items to be strong so that gold is better spent on other items.
yeah i know luna is tiny compared to the other heros but i think they are all giant because the trees thing just randomly thought about it one day like sudden clarity clarence and i was like holy shit they are giants and another reason besides the trees is that they arent that much shorter then elder titan and he is a titan
do you currently have a beta key? if not, you could try hon. some of the heroes are different, and the graphics make it a little hard in teamfights imo, but the mechanics are the same. its good training.
OH, did u know? every week, on wednesday evening they bring the new patch in "dota 2 test" ONLY, no dota 2, so thursday, the next day they bring the patch to dota 2 ^^ but if you are in europe , in US evening , here it is too late, so talking about europe the new patch come to "dota 2 test" on thursday, and on FRIDAY comes to dota 2 ^^ like usual :)))
I've also seen the reverse, someone saying that diana is a ripoff of luna. This "ripoff" thing between the dota games is imo abit stupid, especially when diana and luna has almost nothing in common.
usually it is ported the next day....but it depends on how many bugs the beta testers have...but i think that by friday we will have her in the dota 2 client
DotA and DotA 2 will always be my favorites. I don't need HoN or LoL when I can stick to the original and now it just got simplier even tho I can't wait for Troll Warlord to come out -.-
Dota 2 and LoL are both freaking amazing. I'm an LoL player, but because I only have a 2 year old laptop, I can't play Dota2 at the same time. I wish I can play it. These 2 games are really good, guys. Please stop fighting.
turst me all luna dota 1 players are waiting for this. and also, the procs/orbs will only work on the main/1st target. and further more, there is a cd on the lightning activation; same with lightning shield
plus the reason more people are playing LoL is the fact that anyone can play it. Currently Dota 2 is in a closed beta, so they either have to pay 40 bucks (which most won't) or they have to wait tell they are accepted/ when it comes out in open beta.
I am a LoL fan all the way, but i can honestly say i hae a lot of fun playing dota 2 aswell. When you've played dota heroes, you'll feel like orianna is just as easy to play as tryndamere. The game is a ot harder to get used to and for the love of me i hate the way the hud is organised, but the gameplay makes up for that. The intergrated voice chat is als cool. Definitly give DotA 2 a try i promise you you wont regret it
I am so tired of people saying that this and that is a ripoff. As soon as they have the same theme or a similar abillity many people feel the sudden urge to compare it to something that is mostly different in all other aspects.
Don't know... Even if it's changed, we can't know if it's an intentional fix and will probably have to report it as a bug if that's the case, just like everything else that is different... I mean, Rubick could even steal allied spells when he was first released in the test client lol
i cant believe a lot of people dont know dota came first the rest just take it, adjust something and remain something which include some dota hero's skill so Rikimaru is your grand father Luna is your grand mother. i dont know they born slow or their brain grow slow.
no they are giant have you seen the trees compared to them they are tree hight only normal sized characters are like riki and slark cause they are in proportion with the trees
I've played both Dota 2 has come a long way since the first beta but it's honestly not really harder than LoL but get used to learning all the items etc. that's gonna take a while. Also, LOL to anyone who says Invoker is the hardest hero.
It was either late 5.x or early 6.x, i might be getting my timeline wrong here since it's been forever since those versions, but yeah, way before dota 2.
Reaaly? I thought it was implemented in the 6.x days. But it was definitely implemented before Dota2 along with another change where Eclipse's damage being the same as Lucent beam's damage. Before that you don't have to have levels in Lucent beam in order for Luna's ult to work.
It was basically DOTA only slightly different. The art style is what really turns people off to HoN over LoL, but all the basic mechanics of DOTA are there. Recently though HoN began releasing really broken heroes so that people would buy them. It ended up mostly killing the competitive scene and the game.
I got a little bored of league and got intrested in dota 2 you're right i just started playing Dota things like blink dagger, manta style or abilities like bloodseekers w and ult this game is insane compared to LOL. You're so right the heroes are amazing in this game
What happens when Luna casts her ultimate and there is a NS either on her team or the enemy's team? does all of Nightstalkers passives and skills become more powerful because of the 10 second night?
... whatever, i was simply correcting some errors in your comment, that was fanboyish. but you just took it to a level beneath me. have a good life sir.
Actually, in the league of legends wiki, when the sneak peak came out, a dota player said: "Diana is exactly the same as Luna, riot has no imagination." And bleh bleh bleh. I dont get the hate though, i really enjoy both games.
