Dota 2 Hero Spotlight - Oracle

Something i noticed about his ultimate, there is an orb over the affected allied that seems to indicate whether if its receiving damage or heal at the end of the duration. A burning sun if its damage and green particles if its healing. Neat. Edit: Also, the small moon orbiting around the hero indicates the duration of the spell, 2 entire laps, and then it blows.

i can only imagine the fail plays this hero brings on the table.

Changes to Oracle have been made since this video was released. This list will contain those changes (not including number changes, since they are very frequent) Fortunes End: Can now be cast and affects allies. This will not root or damage them, but will purge debuffs off of them (including Fates Edict). Fates Edit: No longer amplifies non-magical damage. False Promise: No longer makes the target invisible. Aghanim's Scepter: Can now be purchased on the hero. This will reduce the cooldown of Purifying flames from 2.25 to 1 second and cast time from 0.3 to 0.1. I love the 1kmmr players that comment whenever a new hero comes and think its gonna break the game or something dumb. These are *ALREADY released* heroes, tested for ages! (For one out of the many reasons why bitching is dumb.)

They should remove the invisibility from the ultimate. The skill is good/bullshit enough without that.

He really doesn't seem as broken as people fear. It's a squishy support with a fairly high skill cap to use effectively, one with only single target abilities, and mana issues early on. I bet he'll be among the least picked - especially with Phantom Assassin's arcana overshadowing him. He is perhaps a tiny bit imbalanced, but it's mostly just due to the cool down on his ultimate. I'm sure they'll increase it in the coming patches.

The fact you can literally heal your enemies is beautiful.

I LOVE how this hero looks, both in viability and overall design. If his ultiis ulti sounds broken, it really isnt. Remember when he said invisible? Just use dust, gem, etc in team fights. Be does look like a pub stomping support howev-- oh God... Carry Oracle? XD

so Physical damage, AoE spells and detection and this fucker is lunch, i don't see why people making big deal about it...

You neglected to mention that you can use Fate's Edict to negate Purifying Flames's damage nuke on allies and only heal them.

+DotaCinema LOVE the duel example at the end. Definitely like the idea of trying to show perfect gameplay of each character with 0 deaths.

Valve really can give every hero that unique feel to the style and animations!

I think this hero is OP as fuck in pubs but these unreleased heroes are much more OP as fuck. Abyssal Overlord - Ultimate skill is a freaking AoE boots of travel. RAT DOTO KING. Imagine defending a tower when all of a sudden, 5 heroes comes out of nowhere. Winter Wyvern - Ultimate skill is an AoE Legion Commander ult but instead of dueling enemies, you fucking gangbang your own ally while the enemy team fucks you up. Arc Warden - Ult is creating another him which can cast skills and items. Yes, items. You know how fucked up necro book is? Imagine two necro books or you know, get 380 gold for 1 midas or get zapped by two level 5 dagons or you get what I mean. And don't get me started on their basic skills. They are broken as fuck.

Finally... a new hero that involves slight skill...hopefully people won't constantly spam and insta pick this one just because he is new -_-

As a support player, I I always use False Promise, then purifying flames. Of course, at the end of false promise, purifying flame's health regeneration doubles, plus if you have Mechanism, it will also double the healing effect of mechanism after false promise. Purifying Flames+ Mechanism = You survived my friend. My goal is to make sure that a low health member will survive.

To some people complaining about the invisibility of his ultimate making it too strong and shit, IT CAN BE COUNTERED there are likely 3+ types of invisibility. - normal invisibility: can be countered. Attacking removes invisibility. Can dodge attacks - unbreaking invisibility: can attack without worrying of breaking the invisibility. Can still be countered. Can dodge attacks as allways. SECOND TYPE: can use some spells without worrying of breaking the invisibility - True invisibility: attacking doesn't remove invisibility. Cannot be countered. Can dodge attacks. (Slark is the only one with such invis for now) There may be more types but that's all I know.

I stopped playing Dota 1 before Oracle was released (yes that was years ago) and started with Dota 2 a few months ago. What I ask myself is how does lifesteal work on targets in Oracle's ulti? E.g.: Oracle is in a team with sniper, a Phantom Assassin with hotd jumps sniper and Oracle uses his ult on sniper. Does PA get the heal per hit or does she get it in the end of the spell duration aswell? Doesn't seem that important but if PA is able to lifesteal she will survive the engagement more likely than if not.

Looks like i need to wait like at least 3 months and hope its pit lord

I like reading peoples comments who never even played Oracle in Dota1 saying he's op or his ultimate is bullshit :) . Guys chill out he's a balanced hero who can't do very much in late game .. And his ultimate is kinda usless with a ward or dust :)

He reminds me of the Prophets from the Halo franchise. That was the first thought that came to my mind when I saw him. He even sounds like one of the voice actors for them from what I could hear of him in the end when he took out Sven. Oh man... Fun facts about Oracle/Nerif's ultimate: -the little flying ball on top actually changes particles either the target is damaged or healed. If he's damaged, the sphere will burst in flame and have the shape of a sun. The more damage, the more both the fire and the sun effects intensify. If the target is healed, the sphere will start having flying green particles around it. The more heals, the more particles are added to the sphere. -noticed the little floating planet that flies around the target in a circle? It will actually do a full turn twice before the skill ends. -if the skill ends, there are different soundtracks depending on if the target got more damaged, or got more healed. If he got none of them, the soundtrack will be normal. If he got damaged, the soundtrack becomes deeper depending on how much damage is dealt to the target. If he got healed, the soundtrack becomes more high pitched depending on how much heals he received. -The little floating sphere is actually Oracle's sphere that he holds in his hands. -if you look carefully, the more damage the target has taken, the more the sphere becomes 'hot', right? If you haven't noticed, the more the sphere heats up, there is a little type of 'shield' that appears on top of the target itself. Just look. -if the skill ends and the target got more damage than heals, there will be a sun sign on the ground as well as the sphere hitting the target brutally. If the target is healed more than damaged however, the green particles, and only the green particles (because the sphere disappears at the same time), will fall upon the target and explode into bigger particles that will fade away eventually.. Say what you think and also remind me anything I missed.

Phantom assassin arcana please?

I was hoping for a Pit Lord, but this is quite unexpected! Oracle is the 2nd hero to come from 6.78 along with Earth Spirit. Oracle will be a great disarmer to physical carries, but only the physical damage allies will be able to attack that person. Oracle is simply the weaver of teamfights, he can alter the outcome of the fight at his own will. I can say his ulti gives a huge spark of courage to dying teammates who is willing to die.

I usually think of the Oracle as human, but never thought of it as somewhere out of this world!!!!!! GG!!!!!!!!

this hero is living hell. why? not because he is powerful against our team. its because in sea server, there plenty of pinoys that LOVE using his 3rd skill on enemy heroes without using the first skill thus healing the enemy. and its spammable.... the enemy hero had unlimited heal. we kept telling these pinoys to stop what they are doing but they refuse to listen. one even said "but it deals initial damage". for fucks sake cant they read. IT HEALS MORE THAN IT DAMAGES unless u use the first skill of coz

This hero is so odd, still looks like a very active role that is almost exclusively support and that is cool.

You forgot to mention standard healing combo of Fate's Edict followed by Purifying Flames. At max levels, you can do two Purifying Flames heals per single Fate's Edict. Looking forward to this hero. Fucking love versatile support heroes.

Great to have another hero to work with. I think what will be most interesting is seeing him hit CD and letting the pros with their sic timing and combining skills use some of these very different abilities.

the counter to oracle is obvious stunlock, debuffs that prevent heal (ancient apperition + spirit breaker) or as always you could just assassinate them

Hero I can see being really good with this guy, Timbersaw. He mainly does Pure damage, save for his ult, but before level six, this will lead to devastating attacks.

On a sidenote: Dazzle + Orcale is going to be the most potent support combo from now on.

everyone complaining about Techies being OP, as a player from the original Dota, Oracle is the most 'broken' hero, you can atleast counter Techies by getting detections but Oracle, when coupled with some good DPS heroes, the game is close to impossible to win if you are their opponent. Nerf hammer is sure to come in the next few patches, so no worries.

I remember when oracle 1st came out in dota1. Almost every game oracle is picked.

Forgot to mention that using Fate's Edict on an ally and then using Purifying flames on them, will cause them to not suffer the damage and will only receive the healing

The only thing I want to know is whether or not you can dodge all damage if you ult yourself and then euls yourself in the last second. Also, having the lowest BAT doesn't necessarily mean that he is a carry, but this, coupled with what seems like pretty good animation, at least means that right clicks will be a pretty big component of his damage output if you choose to play him as mid. Which is not bad at all, considering he can prevent the enemy from last hitting and harass pretty well with the disarm, push with Q (unless it can be targeted on heroes only, correct me of im wrong) and, well, right click pretty fast.

Whoah oracle seems to be pretty damn good. He's like an omniknight with his heal potential

I played this once in warcraft dota, pretty insane they added 3 seconds cooldown to his heal ability, i just hope invisibility is now like slark´s and can be remove with dust or gem.

His ultimate + Slark = GG

I think his first skill can remove Bkb, Linken's sphere, or even used for countering invisible heroes like Riki, PA, BH, etc.

*Fortune's End deals damage and purge is dependant on the time spent channelling. Meaning cancel-casting will deals damage and purge for 0.5 seconds.
