In a recent interview, Jean-Luc Hervé explains that everything is movement in our perception of a "sound object". Thus, "Double" creates a moving sound object through the encounter between these two instruments. Jean-Luc Hervé studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris with Gérard Grisey (first prize in composition). His doctoral thesis in aesthetics and research at IRCAM gave him the opportunity to reflect on his work as a composer, and a residency at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto marked a decisive turning point in his work.
The event was co-organised by The Ivry-sur-Seine Municipal Music School (Ecole de musique et de danse) and MusEA a non profit organisation for amateur chamber music players (Musique, Espaces des Amateurs).
