Double Cutting Window Tint EXPLAINED!

Once in a while I get a question about what I am doing when I put two pieces of tint on a window so I figured I would show you all in detail what I am doing and how it works. Double cutting has been one of the best ways for me to shave time off of my tint jobs and I do it every single day.

Learned to do this a while back and never went back 😂 only thing different I do is lay the opposite side window tint first that way I’m not risking scratching up film while cutting it out or shrinking since the liner is facing away on that one

Yeah that is probably the better way to do it. You definitely have to make sure your tools are clean and smooth when you do it this way. I do it this way because I hate taking the one side off then putting it back on when you take the passenger side pattern over there.

Good video...but I'll throw my 2 cents in from double cutting back in the day... I liked putting both patterns on the vehicle linning up the straight edge on top n then tacking them down good...then cutting off the extra tint...that way I knew bottom n top were lined up... Also roll down the back windows if you need the key in the enginetion...seen it many a times someone closes the doors n lock themselves out...not on that car cause the fab is in hand... And if you trim patterns on the car...use the back rollups...that way if by chance you etch the window it won't be right in their face...in line sight... Just stuff I learned over the 30+years... But everyone has their own technique...tinting is not etched in stone... More power to you...

Thanks. I've only every cut glass once and that's because I was using carbon blades like a dummy. Lol I also keep a lock out kit handy which I've had and used before I ever started tinting. My dad owns a towing company so he hooked me up. Usually I do leave one door open though because I have had cars randomly lock with the key fob sitting in the car very good advice though, especially for someone that is just staring out. And that's what I love about tinting, we all seem to do it a little differently and like you said, it's not etched in stone.

Don't do this on frameless windows though. For some reason sometimes the windows top edges don't match usually

100% my experience as well. I always single cut my frame less windows. I forgot to mention that. I don't deal with very many frame less windows so I didn't even think to mention that. Good call!

Do they always fit on top egde and sides....some don't fit for me when double cutting ???
@fastlanecarcarellc3608
@fastlanecarcarellc3608 Год назад
Mine almost always do. In my experience when you slide the film side to side, sometimes your top pattern will slide more than your bottom one which can cause you trouble like one being too short and one being too wide. This is certainly something you have to watch out for and double cutting is something that slows you down at first but once you get the hang of it, it can save you a ton of time. As always man, thanks for watching!

@@fastlanecarcarellc3608 how do you keep them from sliding....less soap in bottle....or light mist and squeegee hard....
@fastlanecarcarellc3608
@fastlanecarcarellc3608 Год назад
@@JBIRD575 light mist and use my suede blade to anchor the two together. If you squeege too hard you will anchor them to the glass so they won't slide on the glass unless you pull them back and spray again.

ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_PWtR8fToJA.html. Not sure about the rears but I imagine they come out the same way. Screw in the top, 2 bolts behind the door panel. Never done the back half on one.

You can double shrink the film?? I didnt know that i always double cut and shrink individually
@fastlanecarcarellc3608
@fastlanecarcarellc3608 11 месяцев назад
Yes you can but due to the heat rejection properties if ceramic and carbon films, it doesn't work very well. It's a trick that really only works well with dyed film.
