ARCADIA - A major accident investigation is now underway after a violent single vehicle crash in which the driver lost control at a high rate of speed and hit a pole and brick wall. The collision left two occupants deceased at the scene and a third in critical condition after all had to be cut free from the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital by Arcadia Fire Dept Paramedics.

Everyone is mentioning no CPR. If the heart is still beating, you do not perform CPR. You can do more damage to the patient. Only perform CPR when no heartbeat.

Scott Lane, Awesome job! I'm disabled now but I'm a former Firefighter and I dabbled in Law Enforcement for a decade too. Ended up a licensed Private Detective for a Sheriff's Department Sargent. I'm disabled now, 7 bypasses, set on fire in a Cath Lab with a Defibrillator, broken neck so I've been out of service since age 43 (2006). I miss the job. Not the gore but the job. I miss helping people and saving lives. It's the telling folks at the worst moment in their lives that I'm the guy that is going to do my best for them and not walk away abandoning them. Thank you Scott for all the time you invest in these videos. Doc

And he does a fantastic job! Networks get treated a lot better than a stringer. It may be different nowadays and I hope it's better but back when I was a Firefighter or helping LEO as a rider/observer, Civil Defense, Police Reserve, Sheriff Posse` or civil Deputy (I always ended up not going to the Academy because of a budget problem) but if there wasn't a newspaper or network logo on the camera or microphone, the stringer was treated like a rubber necker or nosey civilian. It's determining qualified stringers from gore seekers. You can tell Scott isn't there to post gore later. I have felt bad for the way stringers were treated. They have to be self policing in a way because, LEO, EMT and FD are too busy to sort out the stringers from the gore seekers. There should be ID tags issued by the Sheriff or State Police granting approval to be at a scene. Someone causes a problem, ID gets pulled. It would make LEO's job a lot easier and faster.

I could be wrong but it seems like the FD goes to more accidents than they do fires. I wonder what the percentage is with one vs. the other. My hat is off to them all over the country for doing what they do. It takes a special breed to do what they do and still remain sane. I imagine it becomes 'just another day at the office' after a while and they can feel awful later. They get hardened to it after time goes by just like doctors, nurses, EMT's and anyone else who deals with disasters. They truly are amazing!

So, no CPR. At all. I don't know what the protocols are in the US, however overhere, even MVA victims with severe traumatic injuries receive CPR. Even when there's suspected brain death. The continuing function of vital organs in the body, if mechanical ventilation and other life-support measures are continued, provides optimal opportunities for their transplantation.

Also, I hate to have to go there, but people like yourself who make these comments don't consider these things ... you were NOT seeing the entire scene. Most of the time direct view of the injured/dead persons was obstructed. If a car accident victim's head is completely smashed to bits and there's brain matter reaching all the way to the rear window...? No amount of CPR in the world is going to do anything. That person is VERY obviously dead. Same for internal and external decapitations. There are types of injuries in which it's very clear that the person is deceased. And we have no way of knowing if any of the deceased people in the vehicle were in such a state when they arrived at the wreckage. Bear THAT in mind, as well, before you question the judgment of those responding to the scene.

I think it was so they could confirm with the machine they use to check for a pulse/heart beat, possibly because of the position he was in they couldn't reach him in a way that would positively say if his heart was still beating, they also may have felt a heart beat initially but once he was out they couldn't find a pulse etc.... And if they needed to start cpr it's best if he's laying flat and on a solid surface... But unless the injuries are visible they are required to verify with that little machine that the persons heart is not beating. Because sometimes a pulse can be too faint for the fingers to register and there have been cases where someone was found alive at the morgue.. But I think with him it was the position he was in, hence the extrication, that they simply couldn't feel one...

everyone keep in mind that for these videos, a "high rate of speed" is doing 25 in a 20. they do this to push the agenda that "fast driving" kills. the reality is distracted driving is what kills. listening to music, talking, cellphone, car phone, speaker phone, gps, wandering minds, bored people. they all cause the most accidents. people who regularly drive 20 mph over the posted limit are following the flow of traffic. most dont notice this or dont care. this doesnt cause accidents. people who regularly drive 40 mph over the posted limit without any music, phone, passengers, etc,,, are most of the safest drivers known to man. they are because they are 100% committed to what they are doing and are 100% aware of what is going on around them. unlike all the other drivers

They have speed limits for a reason , it's not must a suggestion it's the law , speeding will get you killed , it's just a matter of when . If you feel the need for speed , take a racing course , learn to drive a race car , buy one spend the money and drive on a sanctioned race track , period . Don't speed where families could be sharing the road or any other drivers for that matter , speeding won't get you there any faster !

Brenda - thank RU-vid for that. They have rules these people must follow and starting now, MORE rules people aren't going to like but RU-vid is cracking down on harassment, bullying, bashing, foul language and channel owners will have to keep close tabs on all the comments made and delete the bad ones or they will get a strike against them. People can be blocked for all these things BY RU-vid and the channel owner could lose his/her channel if all the garbage isn't taken down. This was told to us by a channel owner so it has to be true. RU-vid's advertisers are not happy with the garbage that people spew in their comments so everyone better be on their best behavior from now on. It's been a long time coming and I, for one, am very happy to see this finally come about. If you can't use respect when posting, don't post at all. 'Big Brother' will definitely be watching!

@@cynwashere6940 You are literally that meme of the kid yelling BUT THATS MY OPINION. Jesus christ calm down. You have no clue what it is like to give CPR. Sometimes it just isn't worth it... they'd have brain damage, distortion, probably paralysis. They'd acquire depression and anxiety because of how they look. It just wouldn't be pleasant for them, especially at that stage.
@danawexler3741
@danawexler3741 5 лет назад
first responders would have already assessed the patients BEFORE extrication...before. they would have already checked for a pulse and respirations. the victims were likely already deceased and there was nothing that could be done. what really upsets me is the implication that our first responders don't do enough to help patients...that couldn't be further from the truth. if anyone is unclear about this then find a way to learn about what first responders do each and every day, and how much they are affected by scenes like this with 3 fatalities.
