DOWNTOWN LA - At approximately 0457, CHP and LAFD responded to reports of a traffic collision with fire an overturned vehicle. Arriving units found a Chevy Trailblazer with extreme damage. The Solo occupant was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced DOA. The force of the collision was so violent that the chassis from the vehicle was ripped from the body. The vehicles engine and transmission were strewn along a 150 foot path on the offramp. There is a Sigalert in place for an unknown duration. The cause of the collision is unknown at this time. It does not appear that anyone else was injured in this incident. CHP Central LA is handling the investigation.

I'm a safe, confident, defensive driver of almost forty years. But after watching several of these LOUDLABS videos, I'm seriously afraid to drive on the freeway. Everyone should watch these and see the effect of careless driving. The raw reality of one mistake. Thank you, for your amazing footage and bringing more awareness to just how a moment's decision can change a life, lives or your life.

Speeders and DUI offenders should be obligated to see photos and video of accidents of this magnitude. To also see and recognize what metal and speed do to the human body. We may think we are invincible in the cabin of our vehicles. Wake up call! We are not.
@PanameraTurboSEHybrid

J Tlapa I believe that still won't help. Only the person can control themselves. Once you're under the influence, (depending on the level) your state of mind goes out the window. Speeders.....Everyone speeds on public roads, including me. I think you mean reckless drivers...as someone who's speeding at over 100 are driving recklessly on purpose with adrenaline pumping on high(I've done that a few times when I was younger). One mistake, you'll lose control and end up like that person in the video. I've lost a few friends from their reckless high speed crashes years ago, they were also aware of the consequences. But hey, they love to race.

Just-in Case: On the "border" between Washington, D.C., and Maryland, I had some little drunk asshole come across from opposite traffic. He hit me on the left front. So, it was left front of my car, to the right side ("A" pillar) of his car. I estimate he was traveling about 45 mph. Due to heavy rain at the time, I was doing about 35 mph. I "snapped" his frame, knocking the front half of his car off, and dumping his engine and transmission into the road. The back half of his car (with him barely hanging on in it) continued on past the driver's side of my car, and hit the car behind me. So, you see, depending on the vehicles involved, and the "facts" of the collision, sometimes it doesn't take much to do this much damage. However, in this particular case (as seen in this video), this vehicle must have been traveling at a high rate of speed.

The Los Angeles Basin is a maze of freeways, spread out, and serve from 4 to 19 million people. That's a LOT of cars on the highways. And by far, they are not all responsible drivers, from age 15 to 90 out there on the road, legal or not! So if you live down there, and you are driving on a freeway, and there are 5 major freeways in LA, covering over 500 miles and they estimate 22 million cars on them from about 88 cities around LA, and most families have more than one car -- you are automatically set up to be involved in a highway mishap, and probably a fatality if you are on the freeway! Speed kills, but so do drugs/alcohol and distractions while driving! DON'T BE A VICTIM, which you may be quite easily down in that area if you are not extremely vigilant!

On November 2019 there was a very similar accident in Mexico City. The vehicle involved was a Ford Focus driven by a young guy in his 20’s. The engine and transmission also came off and the whole left side of the car came un-welded from the vehicle. The engine was a few feet from the point of impact and the car was 50 ft away. The speed that the speedometer showed on impact was 139 mph. The young fella was laying about 180 feet away from the point of impact. I’m sure this Blazer clearly crashed at a speed over 100 mph. steve b really cars get dismembered all the time when they go to the junkyard. Damn you can't have any opinions or assessments with logical point's of view, without a anonymous troll calling you names...there is no need to call him Dumbass, because cars do get dismembered. I would say that vehicle is virtually dismembered because it's in pieces and the car parts that usually never get thrown out during a collision unless it's rapid extreme high speed, that vehicle is annihilated, which means dismembered he is only giving a morbid car analogy. We all know dismembered is directly correlates to a dead human body being found with only body parts, which in fact the Vehicle is in pieces...dismembered, by using a human body parts analogy towards the vehicle that is in pieces.

I honestly feel more of these need to be posted and watched for everyone. I personally used to drive faster than I should and never thought it would ever be me. After seeing thousands of car crashed I’ve learned 3 things 1. SLOW DOWN (not just in bad conditions like snow. ALL conditions) 2. Keep a distance between you and the car in front of you. 3. Don’t drive in Russia.

When I was young, and traveling out of D.C. on NY ave (3 lanes Northbound, 3 lanes southbound - with NO guard rails, etc. separating them) some little asshole in a Mercury Comet blasted across the highway sideways into the front/left front of my car - a Dodge Coronet. I estimate he was going about 50. I was doing about 30. We collided at speed. I hit him - he hit me - at just the correct angle, and just the "right" spot, i.e. right "A" pillar/firewall of him. L. front of me. I tore the front end off his car, cutting his car in half and knocking the engine and transmission into the highway. There was minimal damage to my car, but enough to declare it a "total loss". He spent 2 weeks in Intensive Care, and all I got was a scratch on my little finger !! My point is - If you collide "just right", you can knock the engine and transmission out of a vehicle. But in this case in downtown La, overspeed was definitely a factor. When you drive so recklessly, you have to be prepared to suffer the consequences - including death.

Tons of steel, moving often at speeds over 60 mph. The forces involved can be catastrophic. I'll never forget an accident that happened here on Long Island, in which a car, apparently traveling at a very high speed, left the parkway and went into a wooded area, and got completely shredded to the point of being unrecognizable scrap metal. It took hours for the emergency responders to find all the body parts to be able to determine how many occupants there had been. Some arms and legs were found 50 ft away from the scene.

Or "I was too drunk to know what I was doing!" The top statement was "Sure I'm drunk. It wasn't my fault. If the family had just stayed home, they would be alive right now!". All the reports I read shows drunk driver's who simply refuse to take responsibility for the mess they created.

Lame....but you did bring up a topic that is always worthy of conversation, I shouldn't allow it on your dumb ass comment, but I'm too busy to find another post with the word "seatbelt" in it....I believe seatbelts should be optional. They are a victimless crime. They hurt only the person that's not wearing it. Run a red light, you may hit someone, run a stop sign, same thing, on and on, those are crimes that have victims. Tell me how by not wearing your seatbelt, you have a victim other than yourself. Also, I'm a firefighter. I can't begin to tell you how many people have died due to wearing their seatbelts. They lock upon a collision. Sure, we have a tool that cuts them, but there's just more time. And the worst thing, is the call we get when the locked seatbelt has made it impossible for the victim to get out of the car, when the car is submerged in a water-filled ditch. Can you imagine the last few minutes of one's life, struggling to unlock the seatbelt while drowning ? No way !! We had a discussion on Friday with the school boards here. They wanted to know our thoughts about seatbelts on school buses. I think the majority said no. There were good points made for, and against. I think it will be a long time before a decision has been made. Peace.

People need to be alert at all times when driving. A couple of people didn't see it coming and they paid dearly for it. I can't tell you how many times I've had to jump into an adjacent lane to avoid a major collision. Just a few months ago I can truthfully say that I was about 6 inches away from getting rear ended by a car traveling at at least 60 mph while I was slowing down at about 5 mph because of traffic. I saw the car barreling down the merging lane and instinctively pulled my car to the left as fast and far as I could without hitting the car in the lane next to me. The car slid right past me so fast I honestly don't even want to imagine what would have happened if she hadn't swerved to the right as I moved out of her way. My car would have been totaled and who knows how I would have fared. Please, slow the eff down and be alert at all times.

This sure is a violent fatal crash!! To be able to rip the body from the frame, the engine and transmission from their mounts, and to separate them takes a lot of force! My uncle owned an Auto Recycling business late 70's until the early 90's, and my Cousin, which is his son now owns an auto recycling business and has owned it for the past 10 years, so I've been around the Auto Recycling business my entire life and I've seen a lot of bad crashed cars and trucks, this person was hauling ass! I'm sure this person was dead on impact! It makes me feel so lucky, because when I was younger I used to have a 1985 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Special Edition 5.0, which was tuned port fuel injection, and it had a twin overdrive, I used to have that car up to 165 to 170, and if I would have crashed it those speeds, it makes you wonder what would have happened to me, I'd been dead quicker than shit!

The passenger in the right front side was mangled (DOA), and the passenger in the right rear side was paralyzed from the neck down FOREVER !! The driver didn't even get a scratch !!
