You literally have been an important part of my life for so many years. I owe insane amounts of progress on guitar to you. I hope to one day meet you and attend your masterclass, if nothing more than to be in your energy. Thank you. We love you!
I met him at a Washburn guitar clinic at a local music store back in the 90's. He is a very nice person. He signed a poster for me, and even talked to me about my hand made guitars. And of course, his performance was mind blowing.
This guy is an absolute class act. A living legend. I am not sure kids realize how lucky they are to have resources such as this. Been a fan of MAB for over 25 years.
Met MAB back in ‘09 at a masterclass in Brighton. He threw his pick out after playing “No Boundaries” and, no word of a lie, hit me straight in the forehead before I dove to the ground like an Olympic swimmer to grab that thing before anyone else did. Got the pick, met MAB, got his autograph (twice), met Carmine Appice, and got his signature, too. What a night. Great guy and massive inspiration on me for years. Thanks MAB Edit - still got all three autographs and framed the pick. Had to. Edit 2 - in case, for any reason, MAB happens to see this, when I met you I said “good aim” and you were confused so I said “the pick you threw hit me straight in my forehead. Good aim,” but I think you were still confused. So now you know the whole story... Good aim 😎
Hi Joe. Yes, that was an awesome tour. I was never good at aiming when I throw picks, so I was surprised you said that. :-))Thanks for posting. Great time!
Michael Angelo Batio I’m not sure I could ever fully express just how much your reply made my day. No, MAB, _thank you_ for the years of inspiration, for the years of great music, and for being humble and just downright awesome enough to even take the time to reply to a random pleb like me. My appreciation of you and your music has never been more deserved or well-placed. Keep rocking, guitar brother. Thank you so much.
I'm imagining him going to a music store to pick up his custom two-necked guitar. He plugs it in to try it out before taking it home and plays the "Smoke on the Water" riff, lol.
I started learning how to play the electric guitar in march 2019 at 27 yo. At this moment, I realised how hard the task is. I know it takes a lifetime to be good at it, but everyone has to admit your content is absolutely amazing Michael Angelo Batio. You're the only one on earth able to play this and you do it flawlessly. You're absolutely mindblowing. I'm keeping on watching your videos to learn from you and hope I'll be able to see one of your live shows a day. You're a true master. Congratulations from France !
Flawless is a defining term. The way the mind can work, phenominal is an understatement 🙏 Michael eminates the soul of a true theorist, but far more entertaining as brass calabre musician, those fingers are so fast and articulate it makes his body seem almost suspended in motion. Just loved the Randy Rhoads medley he did a while back just to name one.
Glenn Tipton is one of the best metal guitarists and he started at 20. Go listen to Painkiller, the long solo in the middle is his. It just takes a lot of time and patience and unless you are enjoying yourself you won't be putting in the hours to get good (like 10k hours, that's 3 hours a day for 10 years). And it's easier to do that as a kid, you learn quicker and you also have a lot more free time. Just keep at it and remember to have fun because then it's not a chore and when you feel a little sad to put down the guitar after several hours you know you found something for life. And if you're good it's also fun for other people. Bonne Chance!
Oh yeah listen to every word he said. I always wanted to shred but never could. Pretty good blues and rock player but just not a shredder. Then I found his lessons and Ben Eller on RU-vid and now at age 31 I went from quick blues to playing the opening for Far Beyond the Sun at speed. It's so much fun and people today aren't used to shredding anymore. Do a quick harmonic minor run down the fretboard, a few arpeggios and a nice melodic ending 95% of which is plagiarising Bach and people will look at you like you performed some sort of magic. Now I can finalld learn the 80s songs I love. Randy and Yngwie at the top. Still a little too slow and not nearly as precise but getting there.
So else thinks MAB should do a 2020 version of this on his double sawtooth? There is a different version of the same performance on guitar worlds channel
I have a brand new solo that I will be debuting with my Sawtooth Double-Guitar. I wanted people to see this version of it before posting the Sawtooth one. Thanks.
It's not prerecorded. It has little imperfections and variations of a live take that match what he is playing in the video. Even if it was prerecorded so what, he is still playing double guitar left-handed, crisscross and harmonies equally, doesn't change anything.
I'm 30. Maybe a tad too old to try and learn to shred. Found out i'm not. It just requires more patience. I'm finally starting to nail that A minor sweep picking shape. Thank you Michael for inspiring me to pick up a guitar again.
I've been playing 10+ years and couldn't even tell you where that is on the guitar 🤣 so good job man. If you keep playing you'll keep getting better. Don't ever stop and most of all keep finding new ways to enjoy playing! The world needs music now more than ever. God knows I'll never shred like MAB, but after a while you do develope your own unique sound and style. Everyone sees the guitar as something different and sees different ways to use it. This video is a perfect example haha. Just remember, shredding is badass. But the true point of music is to enjoy playing it and to create unique sounds that take people to unique places and create unique emotions. It doesn't matter how much you shred, all that matters is that you pick it up and play. And if shredding is what you want to do, just keep playing and trying new things. Eventually it becomes like a second language and you can start to play just like you're talking. Don't ever put that guitar down my dude and keep that hunger to learn and grow. With those 2 things you'll play whatever you've ever wanted and even more. You'll blow your own mind I promise haha if you can hear it, you can find the way to play it. Best of luck to you in your musical journey, please don't ever stop because music makes the world go round. Fat bottom girls only help to keep it spinning ;)
Thanks to Michael and Troy Grady I've been somewhat obsessed by the mechanical side of techniques. I've learned alternate picking and I can now sweep up and down the neck. Also, getting pretty comfortable with cross picking. And in a span of 10 months now, I'd say it was really fast, age considered. The secret is patience, practice a bit everyday, and I can't recommend TROY GRADY enough. The guy breaks down techniques like no one else. Check out his series "Cracking the Code" (MAB is in it!) Now I feel it's time to buy a keyboard and learn some music theory :). Maybe actually make some music. Thanks for the encouragement, guys.
I’ve learned more from MAB than any other guitarist in the entire world. Inspiration is endless, but skill needs to be cultivated. Thank you for the art of practice MAB. That is your greatest contribution to this wonderful and beautiful instrument.
@@MichaelAngeloBatioOfficial Hey man. Replies like this one from you are, besides your amazing talent, the other half to the coin that is you. Your personality and genuineness is unparalleled! Especially considering the level of talent. You're a good influence. Just so you know it buddy :)
Michael is a certified legend, and a genuinely nice and good person too - watch any interview with him and he’s always friendly and kind. Dude deserves all the success and more. One of the best to ever shred!
This is truly amazing, I started on MAB since youtube first came out, even have the dvds, time has passed, many great guitar players have come, but what Michael brings to the game is otherworldly
The contrast between MAB's soft-spoken, sweet voice and his shredding like the devil is hilarious. It's like the exact opposite of the over-the-top rock god persona. Love you!
Dearest Michael, the things you do on your guitars is truly captivating. I love watching/hearing a musician at the top of their game and you Sir most certainly are king of the jungle right at the top of the tree and I don't know why but I seriously don't think you get enough credit for what you can do with guitars. You do things nobody else can do! You are truly amazing and if I lived a hundred lifetimes I could never ever do what you do . . . Peace my guitar playing brother and thank you for the notes !
I remember watching MAB videos way back more than a decade ago in high school and he always gave me grief crushing my dreams with every note he played. Now watching these back, there's only one single explanation that makes sense. This guy's an alien. (Just playing Michael, always been a fan, all love.)
2:22 switching hands and continuing the line seamlessly is made infinitely more impressive by how subtle and almost unnoticeable it was. Michael, you're a true inspiration for what's achievable through hard work and dedication. You're the man.
Behind this guitar demigod, there is an infinite amount of hours of practice & dedication. MAB is an example to follow when it comes to the art of mastering a guitar. And he does it all with such a humble attitude. (Side note: I'm still waiting for my Lambo keys.... :D )
@@sandrosarunic9486 I would say guthrie is probably better at legato and tapping but MAB in his prime has one of the best picking and sweeping techniques of all time and is still one of the best in my opinion
@@kiloreynosa5522 it depends what you are comparing. Can Guthrie play left hand guitars? Can he play both left and right at the same time? Upsidedown? In that regard we know who is better...
I’ve looked up to you for as long as I’ve played guitar, maybe even longer. You are one of me greatest role models and biggest inspirations, and I consider this world lucky to have you. Thanks for everything, never stop doing what you love!
Michael Angelo Batio you are an incredibly amazing guitarist! WAY TOO underrated!!! The ambidextrous playing and showmanship are what make you one of the greats! I used to be a skeptic and I'm sorry that I was, but now I am totally a fan! Rock on \m/
I remember watching your first video on the Double Guitar Medley Shred and you've gotten so much better as years have passed. Its amazing how progress can take you so far, all you've got to do is set your mind to it. You used to always smile when playing 3:53 it was great how you pulled it all off.
This guy doesn't have the keys to the Lamborghini, he has the keys to the Lamborghini factory and all the facilities around it. GREAT playing and a great inspiration. Thank you MAB!
Greatest night of my life was when MAB came to India Guwahati IIT... When he came to the stage it was like this huge beast of a man walked in and shredded the world upside down... I couldn't breathe and i just stared in awe and tears started rolling down my eyes... finally seeing my guitar hero perform live was more than i could ask for...
I absolutely love how MAB thinks like a classical pianist, but hes so damn metal. Always loved the double guitar work, really cool to hear some context behind it
It's really awesome to see a high quality version of this performance. Had to make do with the live version for the longest time. Still just as jaw-dropping to watch, and still ain't bored of hearing it!
M.A.B...an actual guitar god eons above 99% every other guitar player alive or dead. You do stuff on a guitar that I'm pretty sure is physically impossible for most people, such as sweeping upside down OVER the neck incredibly fast, AND clean! It's like we're all level 1, and you're the final boss. Simply amazing, my dude.
When I was in high school I watched him play the double guitar in the early 2000s in a small town, Minnesota. There must have been room for only 100 or so of us in that music store, but we all had our minds blown tf out. I remember he played Crazy Train, bass with his right hand at guitar riff with his left. I've never forgotten the name since, MAB or Dean Guitars.
@@MichaelAngeloBatioOfficial My man! Someone roasts him, he takes it in stride, honors the legends, then flips the script into something positive! What an inspiration! You're a class act Batio!
YG Guacamole You beat me... but I can tell you Otto said that, and it was because Seymour asked what to do with the money Lisa won for acing a test but by cheating
Came here after seeing the doo use a double guitar. Must be cool to influence younger generations of artists much like past musicians influenced yourself.
Can I learn to play like this on the Guitartricks app? Wow. My mouth is on the floor. Such skill and showmanship. I just learned about you tonight! How is this possible? I’ve listened to a LOT of guitarists! How have I never heard of you? No one can hold a candle to you! Not Eddie. Not Randy. Not Yngwie. Satriani. No one! I am now officially obsessed.
