They are so adorable but for some reason I have a phobia of their tails😣😣 a few weeks ago I binge watched mice videos the entire day and for the next 2 days I had nightmares everytime I fell asleep of them attacking me or killing me using their tails💀

I bought those balls for my guinea pigs but never got around to giving them to them, I was going to give them to my gerbils seeing as my piggies tend to ignore toys..I'm SO glad I saw this first. The cat can have them instead.

When Pets at Home released this years christmas line I realised some of the toys they were advertising as chews were made from plywood (a manmade board made by gluing layers of wood together usually using urea formaldehyde). There is an alternate glue some plywood is made with that doesn't have formaldehyde in but I'm not even sure that glue would be safe for an animal to injest). I got in contact with Pets at Home and they didn't understand what I was talking about so to be on the safe side I decided not to buy any chews that were made of plywood. Sadly I just can't trust pet shops to know whats best for their animals when they sell cages that are too small and pets at home even sells sawdust for hamsters.

Erin, you are so relatable. I put stuff down all the time thinking that I'm going to remember it and I either forget it for so long I lose it or I lose it within seconds. Every ds game, movie or pokemon cards I have go missing at some point. Heck this morning I put down my guinea pigs water bottle to change the water, went about feeding them and I forgot the bottle until like 8pm when I went outside to their hutch for the second time in 15 minutes to give them hay and a snack before bed. I love hamstermail so much

I was actually Black Friday shopping today and I was at petsmart, and found a chew toy similar to that but it was blue and brown and it was just a ball, I was about to get it but I looked between the twine and seen the white plastic, I was disappointed too

Not as of yet. Mice are known to be very savvy with heights and they don't usually jump unless they feel forced to, unlike hamsters who will just throw themselves off tall things randomly 😅

Mice are usually very cautious before jumping. My mice will always stick their head out a little bit and sniff their surroundings to check. My mice have never managed to injure themselves jumping and will always take a second to decide wether or not it is safe to jump. Hope this helps! 😁

Hello Erin!!😀🖐 I recently did a cage extension for my Syrian hamster Evie and I connected the 2 bins together using pvc pipe and zip ties. I have a problem, I fear my hamster's cage is too small and he doesn't have enough to do. I wanted to make a bin cage and attach it to his current one but my mum says not, we aren't getting another cage, Dobby (my hammy) has a big enough cage. What do i do if Dobbys cage is too small? Also this current cage is a three tiered one with a tube system and its Dobbys second cage as the other one was extremely small.

Im regards to your rosewood friut nibbles.. I bought some when I got my hamster in Jan along with all the other usual stuff but neither of my hams have ever been big chewers despite them having lots of choice. Is this a problem? Their teeth look ok

Hamster's aren't typically big chewers and it's perfectly normal for them to ignore chew toys. Their teeth can be kept in check with other methods like hard foods, nuts, dog biscuits, etc :)

I'm going to connect three 14 gallon bins for a syrian hamster. I'm going to drill tons of holes in them and I'm connecting them with a Large pvc pipe... Is this ok for a syrian hamster? Also any tips or ideas would be gladly accepted!

Floor space for hamsters is measured by the unbroken space of a single cage so at least one of the bins has to be larger than 70 x 45 cm (and ideally as big as possible) to keep a hamster in. It's important to know that no matter how many other cages you attach to the main cage, they will not count towards the floor space at all they'll just be add-ons. Drilling holes also won't provide enough ventilation, bin cages have to have large meshed windows :)

The Philippines has palm trees natively and is a very minor part of the palm oil industry. The villagers from these areas would have been making things out of palm leaves for generations before palm oil was even a thing just because they are strong and hardy.

As mentioned above palm leaves and palm oil are different things. Palm leaves both fall from the trees naturally and can easily be stripped off without harming the tree, they're very fiberous and can be used for numerous everyday items. Palm oil comes from the fruit of the oil palm tree, palm leaves on the other hand can come from any palm species. That being said it's perfectly possible for a product to contain palm oil and still be eco friendly if it comes from a sustainable source, most will have a "rainforest alliance" sticker (a green frog) on the packaging to confirm that it was farmed ethically without cauing problems like deforestation or habitat destruction :)

From my own experience I would suggest at least 1000sq inches. It needs to provide not only enough space for plenty of toys, two wheels, lots of hides, etc but also for the hamsters to have space to be on their own when they need to. The Ikea detolf is a good affordable option for pairs if you have access to Ikea. Just keep in mind that there's always a risk of a pair not working out and if that happens you need to have space to bring in a second suitably sized cage :)

It's best to avoid any extensions, add-ons or levels with pairs as it increases the risk of territorial fighting. A single, large area is more ideal :)

Joy Company how long have you had your hamster for? If your hamster is new I would wait a few days until you try interact with him/her. As tempting as it may be it is much more rewarding to interact with your hamster when it has settled as he/she will be much more calm as they will have had time to settle in properly. If your ham is not new I would suggest just waiting for your hamster to wake up on their own, as it might not be very happy with being woken up. Good luck on taming your hamster!
