If you read this comment and are considering buying a paper shredder, MAKE SURE IT'S A STRIP CUT PAPER SHREDDER!! There are three types of shredders. Micro cut, cross cut, and strip cut. Strip cut is the only one that'll give you nice bedding. Micro cut and cross cut will tear the paper into tiny little pieces and create clouds of dust and make your rodents sneeze.
Great tips! My hamster doesn’t like dehydrated mealworms, hope that other way works! And I live in a very hot and humid city, so that freezing idea, comes handy!
This video came just in time! For the first time ever, I recently got a scared hamster, all my past hamsters were always social… so these tips will come handy for sure!
my hamster just jumps at my hand and latches on and does not let go. Ive had her maybe 2 weeks now. tried to tame her after 5 days. she just attacks my finger. I bleed every time
my guy Hamilton was much more frightened than I expected him to be when I got him home and put straight in his cage. Almost a week had gone by before I put my hand in his cage. He ran, full back up into the corner, paws in the air and screamed in absolute terror. This frightened me as well I have to admit. I could see I had to take things very slowly. Hamilton is my first hamster in over 36 years. So basically I had no clue. Struggled but eventually found some great local (ish) UK based hamster FB pages that have been of major help. Anyway, for many months I used a plastic jug to transport him from cage to playpen and then progressed to a cardboard tube (walking in one end, to be magically transported to the playpen the other end.) He does let me handle him now. Still skiddish, and jumpy but he's a ghost and that's how he wants it. I have the cheapy hamcam on him so get to see what he's been upto without disturbing him. I've been so lucky with my Syrian, He's 2 years and 3 months now. :) I love watching your builds cos you're an amazing crafter. Gorgeous little Lotus, so timid and shy. I look forward to seeing him progress cos he looks such a darling. And what a beautiful grey colour. 😇
He's super cute 🥺 I'll have to try using a smaller quarantine enclosure for bonding next time I get a new hammie. Most of my current ones are ghosts and although I don't mind that they're not social and cuddly it does make things like health checks very difficult
