miss the days when magic was 70-80 dollars a box

I bought 2 boxes for 280 a piece and my total after opening was 350$ worth of cards in it. So Rudy, take it with a grain of salt. you can have crazy luck or you can lose 40% of your money.

I purchased 2 CB's - came from separate stores/cases - one box had a value of $500+ (textured lily, foil borderless FoN, borderless Mana Drain, bunch of other stuff in the $20+ range). Box 2 was under $200 with a borderless foil W&6 and a foil etched Animar as the big hits - Grand Arbiter etched was the next biggest hit at like $15...the box had 3 Marchesa's in different treatments. Not complaining, just pointing out the massive swings and duplication in the boxes. Love the set overall, would buy more if I had more disposable income.

Zero issues with my Amazon pre-order. I received all of my Collector and Draft boxes early.

There's no doubt this set has bangers in it for sure, though this case cost roughly around $2500 to $3000 and this did not break even. We can't judge value based of how many mythics we crack anymore, that used to be a viable way to judge packs/boxes. Now with so many rares equating to more value than some mythics that count doen't make or break a box. It's strickly based on value of each card now, these are still hit or miss, and it's sad that this will be another "winner" for WOTC/Hasbro and they will continue to raise prices of product from here on out.

I bought a single collectors booster pack got a textured Lily. And that's all the money I'm spending on this God forsaken set. Shouldn't have to pay half of my rent just to get a collector's booster box.

They make a product with reprints to make the price of cards go down, but then "the market" decides like..."nope, the cards can't go down, the price of the boxes need to go up so that the cards stay just as expensive as they were". Shit is rigged as fuck rofl

Rant of a far poorer individual (me) incoming: Here’s a eye opening comparison 🙈... Assuming 2 grams per card cause there are several foils, 280$ divided by (15cards x 4packs x 2grams) comes out to about 2.3$ per 1 gram of collector pack goodness in Double Masters 2022. Beef is probably around 25 dollars per kg (or at least a fair estimate), so 0.025$ per gram. If you were to buy beef with the price of a collector booster box, you’d get 280$ divided by 0.025 = 11 200 grams of beef. Divide that by the 120 grams of foil and cardboard for a comparison... So if the math checks out... for the same money spent on a single double masters collector’s box, you could have paid for over 90-100 times the amount of beef. You could be eating a decent sized steak and be grilling hamburger meat every day for over a month 🙈. That’s it. I was hungry and thought to make this comparison 🤣 🥩 😋 Damn cards are expensive 🙈

Dude i just openned a fucking draft box with only 5 mythics. First box only had 6. I have to count everything down to 1 dollar in order to even come close to breaking even on those boxes

It got right up to the point where I got a notification saying my order was 9 stops away from the delivery address and it stayed there for days, then Amazon canceled it. No reason behind it, but they replaced and reshipped the order. Recieved without a hiccup

Singles is where it's at. Fancy art is cool but if you already own most of these cards anyway, just be happy with what you have and buy a second Smothering Tithe to put into that other white deck you have. This set didn't hit my wallet nearly as much as I thought it would.

I would like to throw in a different perspective on the prices of the box versus value obtained. In every set there are "desirable" cards. This set is loaded with them. Looking at all cards currently $50+, July 15 2022, there are 30 of them. Putting a short list together, these are the top ten desirable MR cards(based on current value on tcg). I excluded variations from the list simply because playability is identical for them. Imperial Seal Dockside Extortionist Wrenn and Six Emrakul, the Aeons Torn Cavern of Souls Mana Vault Allosaurus Shepherd Mana Drain Food Chain Liliana Other desirable cards are: Force of Negation Phyrexian Alter Smothering Tythe Bitterblossom City of Brass Damnation Sensei's Divining Top Consecrated Sphinx Crucible of Worlds The list goes on...... Now, people may disagree with some cards, and some would place others on the top ten. My point is this; if you look at the box openings, not from shear cost to $value pulled ratio and from a perspective of desirable/hits to pack ratio you get a different picture. In my opinion, this current cases yield of hits were at least 14 MR's, and it had at least 13 desirable rares. So, at least 27 hits in the 32 packs. Setting cost aside, the case yielded an average of 3 MR's a box, at least half of which would be considered hits, one Textured(which I did not include), and an average of 3 rare hits in every two boxes. Some may see it as more, some less. But looking at this product through eyes of desirable cards, these boxes are a great value. To alleviate the voices that espouse that there are crap boxes; yes there are. But every set has crap boxes and good boxes. Boxes of cards from any game or sport is a gamble. If you're busting packs, you're doing it for one of two reasons; either to get cards for decks/trade bait or to sell. Either way the value is there.

If it's really one per case, wouldn't it make sense for stores to crack boxes until they hit the textured, sell the rest of the boxes / packs and move onto the next case? Or is it 1 per 8 boxes on average and you could get 2 or 0 in a case too?

I think you’re wrong. You can have this kind of value from cheaper box prices. The prices of the individual cards shouldn’t dictate the price of the box. Who says it has to? You? Of course the secondary market people are going to claim the boxes have to be more. Most of those cards aren’t worth the pack. There’s the few good ones that are over $100 but the few good ones don’t outweigh the cheap ones in justification of value for a box.

@5:36 Foiled etched Imperial Seal $257.87. Foiled etched Concordant Crossroads $38.27. Borderless Cavern of Souls $83.10. Single pack at over $380 in value without a textured. Firmly believe the price on these packs is going to be absolutely outrageous in a year or two, but if you're cracking bulk hard to lose value right now. Easily the best set in a long time.

I bought one box on a whim at a card store for 250. Second pack in and i got a imperial seal foil etched and right after that a wren and six foil textured. I couldnt believe it.

My LGS is already up to 450 for a draft box and 400 for a collector box. Single packs are going for 22 and 115, respectively. And people are buying it in droves.

Almost $300 and I'm not trying to gamble those odds. Also remember you have to be able to sell it in order to get its true worth. Definitely same banger packs but also some atrocious ones that you'd feel like you just burnt your cash if that was the pack you opened.

Can someone explain to me what the poit of buying these at $100 a pack? Even the foil borderless cards are running $50 on tcgplayer. I understand theres the chance of several mythics or the textured cards but it seems the chance to loose money at that price is almost guaranteed.

So annoyed my amazon order got cancelled yesterday after having this preordered for a while.

the guarenteed 1 per case textured just tells me if you cant buy a full case dont buy any at all cause its best to crack a sealed case open until you hit a textured foil card then leave the rest sealed and sell them then buy another sealed case and repeat

rudy i really get your enthusiasm while opening mythics and thinking a collector booster box is underpriced but i dont think your opinion is unbiased. lets start with the facts. MOST MTG PLAYERS wont spend so much money in order to buy a CB case (COLLECTORS MAY DO IT), most of them will probably buy a CB box and even more of them some collector boosters. if you examine those i think you will find out a pretty good amount of those box or boosters wont return the money spend back. you could try and sell per box not per case, this could be more realistic but i dont think your patreons will appreciate it. love ya taco man

The set is good all sets retrace after they hit the market but that dosen't change the fact that double masters 2022 is the best modern product on the market since it taps into magics sudo reserve list. The quest that needs to be asked now is will wizereds be reprinting anymore sumo reserve list cards in future sets?
