Sigrid herself has explained this song in one of her interviews, and as far as I understand it she was invited by a prominent song writer to "come let's write a song together", but when she arrived the song writer dismissed every one of her ideas, telling her rudely that she was there to learn. Sigrid went away and wrote "Don't kill my vibe" from the experience.
The song that started it all, thanks for checking out both versions, too! Really enjoying this format. 3:08 & 8:48 - a _little_ “hey!” :) And at 9:26 - closer to the trademark Sigrid “HEY!” Hopefully there’ll be an acoustic It Gets Dark version soon, if not there are some fun live performance on RU-vid. Maybe a cover next? Anything Could Happen, Vi esje herfra (a rap song!), Watermelon Sugar (yes, really :), etc.
Again, thank you so much for continuing the journey!! ☺️ So much fun seeing her early days again (aka a few years ago, lol) Suggestions: Strangers -- music video + the P3Live performance…practically acoustic Don’t Feel Like Crying -- music video + live at Vevo LIFT (…unless this is the one you’d heard) Mine Right Now -- lyric video (because the music video is literally a joke. Worth seeing, but not first, lol…it’s super distracting) + acoustic Everybody Knows Watermelon Sugar Mirror -- music video + acoustic (either the NRK one or her “by the piano” performance). As one person said: “Her transition between modal and falsetto registers is seamless. As an amateur part-time singer, it is so damn hard.” Vi esje herfra Hvem er hun (Arif & Sigrid) There’s always more, but… ❤️ Ty!!!
Merci :-) I like both, and these double reactions are terrific! Maybe you could do one for the two versions of Röyksopp’s Monument. Just kidding ;-) (We had a nice chat about the previous Röyksopp reaction..remember?) PS, Sigrid posted an ‘It gets Dark’ treat on RU-vid a few hours ago! :-)
wonderful! as for Sigrid’s in-your-face songs - “The album title Sucker Punch captures for her a certain sentiment: ‘Sigrid: No matter if it’s a ballad or if it’s an upbeat song, they’re all quite in your face. Because that’s my favourite type of pop: pop that hits you in any way, whether it hits your nerves, an emotion or just hits you because you want to dance.’”
another bop and a lovely acoustic version.. 👍 no wonder Aurora complimented Sigrid on her songs and their catchiness during the Sigrid/Aurora livestream
Thanks!! And as one vocal coach said, she’s not afraid of singing some slightly less-than-pleasant sounds (the couch used a different word), for instance in the “you think you’re so important to me, don’t you?” lines. But it’s fantastic and so right for the song
Great reaction! She wrote this song about a uncomfortable writing session, where the other person was unintrested and patronizing. Also I belive she said that she writes most of her songs on the piano, so that it works as an acoustic piece as well.
Adam, you really need to react to another Norwegian female artist that deserves a lot more attention. Look up Emilie Nicolas - Feel Fine (Live Session). I don't think you will regret it.
LOve your reaction Adam and how you compare the two, very different, versions. LOved to hear you're covid free too! You should do same exercise with her newest song It Gets Dark. I like both versions, seen some say it is her best so far. She plays the piano herself in the acoustic version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f5B2mfHS-Ao.html . The music video is fun, must have taken some effort and money to do it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4j7LGMc9ZGU.html. There's also a 6 minute vid about the making of it. Her previous hit Head On Fire together with Griff is also great, and in at least two versions...
Just a heads up, Sigrid has a song coming out tomorrow with Bring Me The Horizon, which sounds like it would be something you would enjoy! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o4552tadeuM.html
I love the acoustic vesions of Sigrid, Aurora, Angelina, Susanna, Dagny, Agnes with simple piano or guitar or other simple instrumentation that make their natural magnificent voices shine -- They dont need the more intricate productions. Their voice is enough.
Highasakite, Emilie Nicolas, Sissel, Ina Wroldsen, Kalandra, Astrid S, girl in red, Julie Bergan, Ane Brun, and on and on are also incredible acoustic singers. Production is somewhat underrated and the artists spend A LOT of time on each track. But anyway, opinions and all. 😊
Way off topic, but I really hope you have heard Apocalyptica. Four long heard cellists, from the Sibelius academi in Finland, who plays Metallica. Best concert I have been to, and this was in 1989.
the acoustic-version is much better. ist displays her abilities much purer than the pop-version. hope you didn't forget to do another anna von hausswolff, adam? and: susanne sundfor with "when", not to mix up with when the lord, you did this song already
