@@MV1890HHT I had the same problem, and connected 2 more of the bearings from the main wishbones to the controller to give it some strength. not a good suspension really but it made it drivable.

Thanks for the praise! As far as I know there weren't any big changes since I made this video. The only thing to keep in mind is that this suspension will most likely work badly in the survival mode as all the bearings in that gamemode are very weak, dislocate easily and flop around even with the smallest force applied.

@@Pauglin Yeah I just tried it in survival, it was a disaster haha! I don't think anything big has been changed or updated since this video though. It looked like it would have worked with better bearings - like you said. It's probably possible to tweak it so it works in survival but I decided to just go with a different design

I don't exactly know what do you mean but there are 2 things I can think of that might be the problem: First is that you are playing the survival mode. Bearings in the survival mode are much weaker and flop around making it basically impossible to create complex suspension especially for heavier cars. The second one is that you might be using the "offroad suspension" piece for the springs. Unlike "sport suspension" the offroad one tends to become weird if you extend it too much or pull on it. Sport suspension doesn't have this issue and that's why I tell beginners to only use that one. I hope this helped you

@@Pauglin Yes it is only in Survival mode its happening. The 2 vehicles that were built one was a truck with off road suspension and the other was a light weight basic car with sports suspension. Whats strange is that both vehicles were OK for 2 weeks and then a few days back when we started the game up both cars were bottomed out with the wheels and suspension spread out like someone doing the splits and shacking at the same time. Tried different things to sort it out, made sure all welds are done and even stripped the vehicles down and rebuilt the suspension in different ways with upgrades and down grades and nothing seems to cure the problem. Unfortunately we can no longer make a vehicle in survival mode, very strange.

@@JASON-rq5gl well sadly that's just how the survival mode is. On heavier trucks I don't even put suspensions in that game mode

@@Pauglin thx for the reply Pauglin, obviously it's some kind of glitch that the devs need to sort out. If I ever find the route of the problem or a work around I will let you know. As for now I will use your advice and remove the suspension.

I plan on making more videos for sure. I will be doing a series where you will see some more of my builds. I also plan on making more suspension tutorials (and maybe some other mechanical things if something comes to my mind) But I probably won't make any survival related content because the mode feels to grindy for me and I really don't enjoy the grind. Also I might make some time lapses of me building stuff. And I also don't suggest building complex suspension for survival creations as the bearings in survival mode are kinda floppy and the suspension likes to collapse.

I will probably come back to survival once there will be the ability to spawn things from the lift. I would like to prototype my stuff in creative first and then just spawn it in survival. I find it hard to build something in survival when there is the day/night cycle, hunger, farm raids, limited resources etc.

Look at the bearing placement around the springs. That has changed

@@Pauglin I realize that you had connected several bearings to controllers... I did this and was able to get it to drive better but its still a bit wonky. Are you connecting every single bearing that doesnt need to turn to a controller?

@@SHOTGUNStotheNOSE no, I only did what you can see in the video. Also if you play in the survival mode it just wont work. The bearings are too loose in the survival mode

@@Pauglin Ah. That's the issue. I play survival. I did get it to run pretty well by attaching most of the bearings to a controller. Regardless this guide helped me a lot in understanding how to make suspension that actually works.

The bearings in survival are weaker and floppy. You can make it work better by moving the wishbones further apart. By that I mean for example putting the upper wishbone one block higher. The wheel will then have less leverage on the suspension mechanism and it will be stronger.

Hm, thank you. Already build the bones with a spacing of 1. Currently I'm running a single bone suspension with a length of 4 and and the suspension at the outer end. Works as intended and is stable, though the problem of the rotating wheel. Might give a 1 to 1 build of your suspensions a try. Feels like the most time in the game I spent building and testing suspensions.

My suspension probably won't be stable in survival too

I don't exactly understand what are you trying to do but try putting it on a lift and building it on the lift. Also check if everything is welded with the weld tool

Sorry for my late response I didn't notice the comment. Unfortunately there is probably no way to solve this cuz the survival mode has really floppy bearings and that is the reason why that happens. Tho putting the wishbones further apart (for example the upper wishbone a block higher) should help but it won't entirely fix it

Whatever you do don't build this in the survival mode. Some people can have double wishbone suspension in survival mode but for other people (including me) the bearings are too floppy and the suspension doesn't work. And the unecesary complexity is another unfortunate thing that is not worth it

You have to tweak that based on how heavy your car is

unfortunately not really. You could try to move the wishbones further apart to change the leverage on the bearings but that doesn't really solve the issue.

I have no idea. You probably can but the thing is with this game that the bearings lag. So you might not be able to for example create the thing from this tutorial without destroying the frame rate. But you don't have to build things that are as complex as this. I suggest you try joining some discord server and ask there. Probably not mine cuz I don't think people there will be able to help you but you can try for example fenowork's or scrap mechanic mods.

@@Pauglin so I actually experimented a bit and got it to work had to leash the bearings controlling the tires tilt to the controller it stops tired from over tilting and messing up and let's me camber the wheels :)

Lol not at all. When I started playing scrap mechanic I was mainly building cars and then I started to be interested in building and tuning suspension in the game. From that I became interested in cars in real life too. I'm just a high school boi not sure what I want to do in life. Same as the others. But as of right now the only thing I can do with cars is change the spark plug lol. Don't even have the licence yet. And my physics knowledge isn't that good either.

And I don't even plan on buying a car right now... I would like to get a house before I start spending money on automotive stuff. My biggest dream is having an offroad track where I can drive utvs, atvs and homemade buggies. Cuz it's not a possibility just to go and drive an utv into the woods somewhere here. You would get into lot of legal troubles for that.

I'm having the same issue in survival...it seems to work in creative for some reason. In survival I get negative camber (tire tops leaned in) and like I said it works in creative just as shown...

Yes it doesn't. The bearings in survival are floppy and it won't work well no matter what you do

Key word: "sometimes" The thing is that when you pull on offroad suspension it stretches out more than it should and starts shaking from side to side. The stiffness also gets super weird when that happens. And it happens a lot in double wishbone suspension and I've seen countless people having that exact problem. That's why I mentioned it. Basically you want the force pulling on the offroad suspension to be really small or have something that limits the arms from going further down to stop that issue.
