I have watched videos and tried to read books on doubleweave and cannot for the life of me understand how it works or how I could possibly tie up my cm loom to do this. But this video is lovely to watch!

Thank you for the threading and tie up. Great video. No one else show threading or tie up or what treadles to lift so you haven't a clue what they are talking about and shut down the video. Thank you very much for this full explanation x

Do you know how to do false damask pick up? There are a few videos on RU-vid but without a tie up and not knowing what's tied up to the treadles they are a complete waste of time. False damask is a 3/1 twill and a 1/3 twill giving both weft faced and warped faced on the front of the cloth. It's normally treadled 1324 instead of 1234. That part is quite easy but it's the pick up part I cannot get to work. This weave structure will create a picture drawn on a graph just like double weave pickup but the cloth will be one layer as opposed to two layers. I would be grateful for any help you could provide. Thank you x

Beautiful design and great demonstration. I’m pretty new to weaving so forgive me if this is a stupid question: you can pick-up weave only on double weave? Can I apply the pick-up technique to a single layer weave?

Hi! You can definitely weave pick-up style patterns on a single layer. Doubleweave provides more options for color manipulation, as well as more pictorial options.
