Damn, Clay was looking good all week. I wonder what happened at the end of that last run, looked like he or it shut down? Love the "straight and to the point" video, ty.
They can remotely turn off the cars electrical system and fuel flow, its a safety feature incase the driver is knocked out or in a violent incident when a driver braces,they often hit the grass pedal as well.
From watching other coverage, it's because they're shutting down at 1000ft, and often the cars actually roll to a stop well before the end of the runout, so crew are driving out to meet them where they stopped. In this one it looks like Clay's car shut down earlier still, but I also didn't see any chutes (or maybe they were very late), so hard to say if he was stopping early or late.
@@daemn42 so what happens if the chutes don't open or get ripped off and they don't roll to a stop. Ive raced there and there's no way im crossing the end of the track with any cars and especitally fuel cars coming down!
They're shutting down at 1000ft, and it's actually a very long trap. For this event, the neighboring famer actually plowed his field differently so they could use even more of that space.
I'm assuming that was Clay Milliken in finals? ... Congratulations to Doug kalitta, but it could have been a different outcome if clay millican didn't have some kind of trouble down at the big end of the track
