What makes you think he hasn't done that already?

This was made for a tv show, and the show is about Jill and her guests, this time the guest was Magnus.

They did, in this tv program (Jill’s show about country music where she performs with other singers, here Magnus was invited to Nashville) and later in a studio. In fact, they helped Doug record a whole album (with collaboration from Emmylou Harris) that topped the Swedish national record chart, and which generated hundreds of sold out concerts in Sweden. “Jill Johnson was the person that really put my life back together for me”, Doug said.

Well, he has recorded a record of his own. This was just a spontaneous move from the TV-show, a show that won prizes in Sweden for it's more or less laid back attitude. Imho it feels kind of cozy. Jill invites people over to Nashville and she explores the city a long with her guests (and plays music with them etc.). I really really doubt anyone was taking advantage of Doug, quite the opposite. They were just so impressed by his voice and soul that they wanted to do a simple recording along with him.

it pisses me off when they take YOUR personal song, and want other people to sing with you. The chorus is fine, but they didn't live Dougs experience, they don't have his pain

+puissse I guess you would have prefered if they had just let him continue living under a bridge singing on the streets? How rude of them to let him sing with two very well known singers in Sweden, making him famous here and then pay for the recording of his own album (where he sings alone), take him to a three months tour with 60 sold out concerts in Sweden and he gets all the money! How shameful of them that the sang along with him in Jill's show and pay for the recording in Johnny Cash's old studio. I understand that you are pissed that he now doesn't have to live under a bridge and that he now can live off of his own music. What else pisses you off?

Doug is a more gifted singer and songwriter than most successful contemporary American musicians (that’s why he has become so popular in Sweden) and perhaps this song is even better solo, but this show is about singing together. I don’t agree about Magnus. Here, he stays in the background but I think he has a great soulful voice (listen to e.g. “Blue and alone” by his band Weeping Willows). Besides, he is a very humble person and he was truly impressed and affected by Doug’s music in this tv show. And “Jill Johnson was the person that really put my life back together”, according to Doug himself.
