No we need less. His mindset is obtuse and he seems to know it. You can hear it in his voice falling apart when he says "Keep tray locked in upright position...." Civil liberties are not meant to establish rights to endanger other people. That's why the tray tables are up, seat backs upright and seat belts fastened. You see, nobody owes you the invention of the airplane or access to it. Airplanes are not naturally occurring and are the result of lots of hard work performed by manufacturers and the airlines who operate aircraft. Therefore, if you want to fly, you must pay them for the work they have done in getting this aircraft ready. Also, there are some rules so you don't jeopardize all their hard work and everyone else's safety over your self centered desire to not want to put a seat belt on during the most dangerous phases of flight. Since an airline industry is of such immense benefit to everyone, the government has made these safety best practices, the law, but I can see how this logic would elude a drunk. Trade offs bring about a better life, not an absolute presence or barring of freedom. That's why we vote to determine these trade offs as they correspond to 21st century reality. This is what was intended by the words of the Founding Fathers written in the US Constitution. Amen.

People enact laws almost entirely out of fear, and fear as we know is one of the most primitive and unenlightening emotions. Well Doug, that's how civilization works. We can live together with relative safety in large groups because there are rules and most of us follow them.
