Thank you for being real and honest! I'm so tired of watching the others telling us how easy it was. 🙄

VO Girl, it was anything but easy. HA! It's a struggle for every pound. I am absolutely going to keep it real. One day, i'll be skinny and i'll have an ebook to sell. But, not today. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

Gail, its is so true. I would eat the same crap over and over again and then wonder why the scale ain't moving. Umm cause I haven't changed anything. Right? Thanks so much for watching.

Thanks for this video. Yes, this has been my experience: ups and downs and those persistent plateaus that just don’t budge regardless of my food and exercise. I’ve learned to do 3 days of Mary’s mini every two weeks and it works like a charm. I reset my taste buds, and the plateau breaks down and I start losing weight again. On average, I’ve been losing 4.5 lbs every month. Still have another 15 to go. It gets harder when you have less to lose. Good luck to you. You can do this 💜

Hi Mona. I really believe that switching back and forth between two diets like that keeps your body from adapting to one of them and works really well to get maximum results. Thanks so much for the nice comment. We got this for sure. Thanks so much for watching.

Hello everyone. Thanks so much for watching my Starch Solution update video on what happened during my vacation. The bad news is that I gained weight. A lot of it. The good news is that I lost it all again and I am now down about 30lbs total. Leave a comment below on your experience or thoughts on The Starch Solution. It hasn't been easy but it IS working for me. Dont forget to subscribe for more videos. We love you all. Thanks.

I have to join the Facebook group. I started Starch Solution mid October 2020 after losing 20 pounds, and now I've lost an additional 15 pounds and still have 30 more to go! This is the first time in my life it feels like a WAY of eating, not just a diet. Coming from someone who literally watches 100s (and I mean 100s) of weight loss videos on RU-vid, I LOVE the honesty and transparency. Not that other people are being dishonest, but it's so refreshing to see that you're going through the journey with us, right here right now!! Often times I'm watching someone who lost 50/60/70 pounds but they did like 8 years ago lol. This is awesome. Thank you!! Also: I went to Atlanta last month and was SHOCKED all the restaurants were either closed or closed at very early hours. It was so bizarre.
@PlantBasedDads
@PlantBasedDads 3 года назад
Starr, we did eat at some vegan restaurants along the way on that trip and we had a takeout meal from a pizza place there that was just amazing. I think it was Plant Based Pizzeria. So good. Yeah, so I am definitely struggling with weight loss and its important to me that people see that its not like the weight just fell off me. I had to focus and struggle and I fell into the same traps that everyone else did. I think that is part of the allure of the show with me. I am still on the journey and I am not doing this to sell and ebook. One day I will, but not today. HA! Have a safe holiday and thanks so much for watching.

I needed this today! I did great on the challenge up to this past weekend. I was down 6 pounds then I grabbed a six pack of beer and that lead to snacks this morning I was up 4 pounds so aggravated with myself. Oh well today is another day I will lose those 4 pounds again. 😀
@PlantBasedDads
@PlantBasedDads 3 года назад
Hi Lynan. When that happens to me, I find that the 4lbs comes back off again in a day or two. But yes, this is a good week to lose 4lbs. Beer and wine is tough on a diet. They are liquid calories and so many people enjoy them. Thanks so much for watching.

I am so happy that you’re honest and put your struggles that everybody has on your RU-vid channel this is an awesome video anytime anyone goes on vacation it seems like they come back a little heavier. Your cabin in the woods look like it was a lot of fun it’s always great to be with family and you did make me laugh that all the meat eaters was eating all your vegan starch solution diet and you didn’t plan on them eating that. I like that you showed your graphic of weight loss also that it’s not a perfect straight line down that there’s hills and valleys awesome video

Michelle, This past summer was so frustrating. I had planned out my entire vacation but of course, it went bad real fast once we got to Tim's family's house. I did well during the cabin stay in the mountains. But my in-laws in FLA are all keto people and they go out for every meal. From here on in, we get a rental house and I cook there. If they want to eat over, fine. If not, they can go out and come back over when they are done eating. Thanks so much for watching.

I was so scared to make this video, but I knew that I was not the only person struggling. Part of it was that people know me for losing weight and are following me for that so I can just gain weight back. Right? But on the other hand, they need to see me struggle and know that this happens to everyone, not just them. So I bit the bullet and made the video, but I waited until after I lost the weight so I could focus on that. Thanks so much for watching.

Hi Joey, this video is everything🙏🏻. Thank you for keeping it real. I’ve been struggling with a plateau for a few weeks, and your graph is an inspiration for me. Totally get the family gatherings where no one else eats this way, lol. The NSV’s are great too, loved that! And thanks especially for what you said in the beginning about not being skinny (many of them state without exercising) and trying to get people to buy their e-book. There’s a lot of that on RU-vid! @PlantBasedDads
@PlantBasedDads 3 года назад
Sunsiraye, I swear I don't understand the scale. I can eat the same exact food for three days in a row, and lose a lb the first day, a half lb the second day and gain half a lb back the third day, on the SAME FOOD!!! It's just crazy. I have learned that I have to let that go. So don't let it control you. Just eat the healthy starches and non starches and the rest will work out. Thanks so much for watching.

Joey you are the best. Thank you for being genuine. Love your content. I can so relate to you. Ive been there and done that. I have done all the diets. Last one was keto. I have learned not to weigh myself daily. My hubby is so fed up with me on diets. I have not told him I am doing the starch solution. I told him I am changing my way of eating. When I sit down to my mashed potato fries in the morning with ketchup I get the look 👀 joey. When I say don’t add oil to my food, i get the speech of how we use olive and avocado oil which are “healthy” he even does the action with his fingers. He does the cooking so you can imagine when I now say, after doing keto, please no more butter or oil for me. He’s like so frustrated. I love him so much. He has supported every journey and has seen me do well on all but i just give up after a while. I believe the longest I’ve ever lasted was 2 years going vegan and it was me saying one day man I would love to eat some nice crispy fried chicken and well now here i am again on another journey and he is frustrated. I’m doing good with a slip up here and there. I will tell you something I am already feeling so much better. My body has less pain than when I started and I’m loving the simple meals I’ve eaten so far. He makes me great salads. Currently he is making a big sheet of roasted veggies. I am not completely transitioned over but I’m getting there. I now don’t go by the number on the scale but by how my clothes feel, how my energy is and my aches and pains.

So thats why it's so important that I let people see my journey, and see that it is ok to fall, but just get back up and keep going, Dont quit. Hopefully people will come along with me for the journey. I get lonely all by myself. HA! Thanks for watching,

I'm down 13 pounds in 8 weeks, and every single one of them has been a struggle. Hi Joey, thank you for this video. It is really great to see someone talking about the struggles, instead of this very perfect-plantbased-all-the-time videos that are often posted on youtube. I enjoy those as well, don’t get me wrong, but as a 3 month old vegan i have had many struggles, one of them especially on a family vacation where i was the only vegan out of 9 people for 3 weeks, and i laughed so hard when you talked about you making potatoes because it’s what YOU can eat, and everyone is like “i like potatoes too” and eats it all, haha, that happened to me every day!!! Which also really goes to show that people really do like starches, like mcdougall says. Anyway, thank you for posting and being honest, it was really nice! 💜

Congrats on getting it back off. It's crazy how it can take such a long struggle to lose it and it comes right back as soon as you have a blip. So frustrating! I agree about the NSVs. When it comes to weighing, I used to just weigh once weekly, but have been weighing every day for years now. It's because I know there can be those daily large fluctuations you talked about that I do it. And us women have even more with our cycles. It would drive me nuts after doing everything right all week only to have a gain on my one weigh day. I started daily weighing because I wanted to see how it varied all week. For me, it's less demoralizing to see my daily progress instead of feeling defeated after doing well because I only had that one measure to go by, which may or may not be on a down day. If I have an up day then I know tomorrow will most likely be better if I'm sticking to my plan and that helps keep me on track . The whole picture is very helpful for me. However, I think everyone has to do what works for them and their peace of mind. If somehing's not working then try a different tact. If it ever stops being a positive thing then I'll make a change. Loving the group by the way. :)
@PlantBasedDads

I weight myself every day too but like you, I know it goes up and down daily. Some people can not handle that so they should not do what we are doing for sure. But it still gets frustrating. I am loving the group too. So supportive and it really made all the different for me this summer.
@LotusLove71
@LotusLove71 3 года назад
@@PlantBasedDads That's why I don't believe in one size fits all for anything in life. This gives me peace of mind, and I know why it works for me, but it may be the opposite for someone else. Everything is subjective. Plus, we are all on different levels of self-awareness, which makes a huge difference. The tone of the group is very supportive, which is crucial. You set the stage for kindness and non-judgment about anyone else's journey and it makes all the difference.

This video is wicked and I think it’s going to help support a lot of people out there. I’ve done that over and over again. Back up ten back up twenty. Or back up 50! That feels embarrassing. I totally get it. Now I focus on my lifetime habits and over all progression. I ONLY weigh in when I feel aces 😆 if I wake up in the morning and I’m like oooo I feel good today! I feel lean! I decide on whether or not I’m strong enough to weigh myself and continue to feel this good regardless of what it says. And if that’s a “YES!”, I get on. Even a couple months ago I was getting on every day,then every Friday but it would be too discouraging. Now I’m happier

I so enjoyed this video. You were sincere, funny, honest and relatable. WW did not help me at all. I was too hungry. As I have mentioned in another video, The Starch Solution is the only time I have not only been full on a diet, but satisfied. I don’t know why either, but it works. You are exactly like me in the weight loss journey. It is sad that when you have to kind of go off the plan, but doing the best you can, you gain weight. Susan Powder’s diet was the only other one that I did well on, but it was about the fat. She would always say, “It’s the fat that makes you fat!” She said you can eat plain rice and not gain weight, because there is only so much rice you can eat and that amount will no make you fat. Same thing with beans. Egg whites, not egg yolks. No oil, fat of any kind. You get the picture. This diet works. I’ve lost 12.6 pounds. I had no idea either as we were concentrating on the food-picking out recipes and cooking. I just did not want to weigh. So it was a little shocking to see the scale down. It never goes down. It likes going up. Let us hear how you are doing. We really care. Hugs.

He Celine. Here is what I am doing differently next time. The part where I was at the cabin and cooking my food, that part was right on point. I loved it. Next time, instead of driving to FLA to stay at my in-laws house where I am not comfortable cooking, we will just get a place to rent and they can visit us there. Then there is no reason for me not to be able to make my own food like I did at the cabin. The FLA part of the vacation is where it all went wrong, and it happens every year. Thanks so much for watching.

My experience (admittedly pre-covid) with hotel stays has been that I take a Mason Jar and make overnight oats with locally sourced soya milk and oats Last time I did this in October 2019 in Italian speaking Switzerland my first trip was to a supermarket and practised my Italian. I made a fresh batch of overnight oats and because the rooms didn't have fridges I got the jar and the milk put in the kitchen fridge with our room number on. Lunches were always - pane integrale (wholemeal bread) with salad and hummus or because I brought a lot of baked potatoes - for the journey we had sides of cold baked potato (which is delicious BTW) Only the evening did we go out and I ate regular vegan options like a vegan pasta dish or a pizza with no cheese Always accompanied by a sparkling mineral water I don't like soda so I was not tempted Holidays staying with family especially non-vegan never mind non-starch solution households is more a nightmare. But always oatmeal for breakfast and one meal of wholemeal bread plus salad seems to work and makes things a little smoother.
