I'm comparing Mammut Nordic Down 3 Season with Helsport Alta Pro. Down vs Synthetic Sleeping bags. Which one to choose can be difficult to know. Here I'll give you a quick review based on my own experience. All gear I review I've bought myself and I'm not sponsored or affiliated for any of the reviews I do. Everything comes from my own experience and all gear I use by myself on real camping or hiking trips in the Norwegian wilderness.

I'm happy to hear that 🙏 I'm still using the sleeping bag and still very satisfied.

Same from me, thank you! Ultimately decided to get the Mammut Performance Down on sale (-1c comfort, -7 limit). It is my first down sleeping so I’m a bit anxious about the moisture affecting the performance (I mostly hike in Bavaria and Austria, super humid at night, especially during the shoulder season). Would you recommend some DWR treatment, like a water repellent spray? Or would that be harmful to the down?

@@Gjegordj You could apply DWR as an extra protection against condensation from your tent leaking or falling onto your sleeping bag. I think these Mammut bags are treated with DWR already.

Hi, thanks for sharing. Im really interested on this topic. I would like to share my point of view about combining 2 sleeping bags. Could it be better to layer the down bag inside with the synthetic on top? I mean , it makes sense to have the down one on top to allow it to reach the biggest loft possible . But if you put the down bag inside, it could fill up the empty spaces near your body avoiding dramatic cold drafts when moving, and also we could benefit from managing better the condensation and humidity problems, because our heat will move the humidity ( Wet clothes, body vapor...) to the outer layers of the synthetic bag, when it can get condensated and/or frozen, even before reaching the exterior. Synthetic works better with humidity than down, also offering better management of humidity and condensation from our bodies, fabrics, floor, tent walls and the enviroment itself. I understand that in this option a too heavy synthetic bag on top of the down could compress too much the down affecting the loft and being contraproductive. The thing is where is the best balance? Some brands like Helsport uses this option. Give a look to the Spitsbergen sleeping bag. Aren you still using your Isbjørn Bjornøya? What are your thoughts and opinion after some years of use? How is it compared to the 2 bags system? What kind of use do you give them? Thanks in advance, im really interested on sharing thoughts !

Can use in summer weather?

I use either of them separately in summer weather. In winter I combine them. On a warm summer night I just open the sleeping bag totally and use it as a quilt.
