Down the Coast with Spam Can 34067 and The Cumbrian Coast Express 01/06/24

Todays Cumbrian Coast Express would be hauled from London Euston to Carlisle by BR Class 86 Electric Locomotive 86259 Les Ross where SR Battle of Britain Class Locomotive 34067 Tangmere would take over for the run from Carlisle down the Cumbrian Coast to Carnforth then the 86 would take the tour back to Euston, we first see Tangmere with support coach and 47746 making a fine show through Oxenholme Station with clag and whistles galore then Les Ross with the tour as it passed Benson Hall Farm, the return leg was seen rounding the corner from St Bees and through Nethertown towards Sellafield in bright but windy conditions then climbing out of Dalton with plenty of assistance from the rear, thanks to Steve for the lift and crack this afternoon and thanks for watching.

Superb as ever Nige! Especially liked the view at Nethertown. I must get there again this summer! Crooklands cutting is looking very overgrown - you'd never realise that there are vertical limestone walls there!

Many thanks Les, yes it’s a great view point from Nethertown, every time we go there we lose a bit more of the shot and yes you would never think there were walls under all that undergrowth and then one wonders why you get leaves on the line 😂 cheers 👍

We saw it giving it large going through seascale - I tried to film it - it was so windy and the video looked like I had filmed it on a potato lol so one again thank you for sharing this with us much appreciated

I don't know what the brush is doing at back, a couple of weeks ago on the Cumbrian mountain, on one of the hottest days so far this year it certainly wasn't powering the aircon. The stock was like a greenhouse, we were absolutely roasted. I will only book trips in MK1 stock in future, couldn't hear a bloody thing.

Thanks Nigel, not sure if that stock is air con which is far from ideal when you can’t open windows but on Saturdays tour the brush was assisting Tangmere as a few fires were started even though everything is green there’s still old scrub lineside, cheers 👍
