Phil's bark-growl-grunt at 1:41 is sooo fuckin badass....Down is rock&roll to the core,in its purest form....for selfish reasons I'm sorta glad they never got huge cuz I've been able to see them in small venues but on the other hand I think of all the people who like rock&roll yet have never heard Down,if they only knew what they were missing

i'm a big zep fan and very critical of covers, but this is bad ass and obviously heart-felt coming from a new orleans band...this NEEDS to be on their next album
Zepplin's version sounds like the band is noticing a light thunderstorm outside while this version sounds like the Mississippi itself is flooding the studio
I'm a huge LZ fan...seen them 77 at the Pontiac Stadium...been in love with Robert Plant all my life...so I'm a harsh critic on their music...but I have to say, I really like this version.

This song probably takes on a personal meaning to the band as they remain loyal to their New Orleans roots and they perhaps sing this song as it relates to the Katrina hurricane disaster of 05.

I love the original by Kansas Joe McCoy & Memphis Minnie, but it's always fun to hear cover versions that really take a song into different territory. Not bad, not bad at all.

Wow... just wow. Soon as I found out about this I had to hear it - I knew this would be an amazing cover, after how affected Down were by Hurricane Katrina. Phil sounds like Matt Pike here! A great tribute TO a great band BY a great band.
You know Zeppelin re-worked this song. It was originally an old blues song by a fella by the name of Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie..... I like this Down cover too. It'd be cool to see them do a whole album of cover songs.
i came back to listen a second time and yea I hear phil more now. Honestly, the high notes and grittiness just doesn't sound like him. Almost like he's puttin on a voice! Touche, Mr, Touche

last months he's been getting better and better again, on sonisphere nijmegen, where I saw him live with down, he screamed as if it were Pantera in 1992.

lmao When the Levee Breaks was already a cover, one of an old blues song from 1929, and after hearing that one, barring Phil's vocals, this actually feels pretty faithful to it if you ask me
This is what my generation "Generation X" does out of RESPECT to the "Great Iconic Metal Masters" rock on brothers. Anyone else cover this and has this kind of true one hundred percent honor and not stray from the original? I think not!
