On the reduced sensitivity of the sub channel, are you sure you had the remote gain knob turned up? I only mention it because it is turned down shortly later in the video. Anyways, thank you again for the great content!

Aha! This might be a mistake I made, as I didn't pay attention to the bass knob at all🤔 Good spot👍

I expected horrendous measurements from this amp in these tests. Thank you for taking the time to run these tests and make this video.

These measurements are very acceptable. I'm curious to hear this amplifier. Have been looking for a 10ch amplifier for a long time. Great work as usual.

The 0.5 Volts difference between your Battery and the Amp is the voltage drop off your power cables. Higher load on your power cables causes higher resistance. That's just normal. You can calculate it with Ohm's law... Keep up the great work! 👍
@pim_kahlert
@pim_kahlert Месяц назад
Exactly this! 0.5V drop for 30A would come to 0.017ohm, which is quite resonable for a "thin" wire and 4 contact transistions (2 from the XT60 and 2 on the amp) 0.5V*30A should also heat up the wire/contacts with 15W, it shouldnt take to long before RAW-Cat can feel some heating in the wire! Nothing to worry as the contact area is large enough to spread it into the air, but I wouldn't suggest using it in the car for demos...

Seems to be a good amplifier for its intended purpose. Hope to see more brands of amplifiers tested this way in the future. Thanks again for the information you give in your videos. 😎👍👍

You can actually adjust the bass knob control to match your actual voltage reading, it has a small adjustment hole in the bass knob unit specifically so that you can set it to match your actual voltage.

Thank you for doing this. I am really interested in the quality of these D4S amps and DSP. I wish there was a 3ch that was 200w x 2 and sub channel is like 3-8k. Instead of the 10 channel :)

I have this same issue with my voltmeter… it shows 13.5 at MOST…whereas the dc/dc buck module I have reads 13.8 on its little LCD screen… I assumed it was something with my grounds….but they are rock solid. So if you find an answer to the voltmeter issue… please make a video about it!!! Thank you for all your work!

Better numbers than most of the old school amps I have that people seem to think are worth big $$$ on eBay. Not crazy about fans inside amps, they are just a way for things to get covered in dust which will actually cause more overheating than it was intended to prevent. Seal it up, and make sure the heat sink can absorb and dissipate the heat. Add more heat sink fins if it isn't efficient.

Thank you so much good sir. You are doing the industry the most useful favor by testing these properly. And IMO bringing respect to car audio in general. True audiophile measurements that tell you way more than a dyno. I hope you get the engagement and get noticed (just so you get to test as many different amps as possible, cant imagine the shipping to you from vegas. The go to place to find true amp specs. Amir should be proud. And I wish I had the time and skill to offer you a website design to aggregate your results. Videos are great to show things are done correctly but I'd like to see the pretty graphs in one page. Heck I'd even say make a Google drive with screenshot lol.

The distortion and noise tests are at 5w of output? 2.236v? Having no preamp filters would have helped the noise and distortion quite a bit. To clarify, more than 6v will clip the the sub channel input, but 6v requires the gain knob to be turned 1/4 of the way? That is just a build\tune issue, the gain preamp circuit is not tuned perfectly or as well as the other channels. I would have thought the noise would be lower as there is usually a ton of negative feedback in class D to negate switching and other noise so lower than-120dB is typical to see in my experience. The voltage readout is not surprising to me because it seems like a high resistance path is used to read the voltage for the bass remote, and the voltage itself is likely sent to the remote rather than a bitstream of data to indicate the voltage level. I don't think there is much you can do besides find the trace on the pcb and run an additional 16awg wire in parallel to lower the trace resistance. The amp seems alright but I would run ribbons or other high frequency drivers on something else, because of the THD+N, but more so the frequency response is all over the place based on the loads impedance at the high end.

Hi, do you think these new kind of amps like this D4S one (or others) would outperform older generations like Helix HXA400 mk2 for example in a daily or even entry EMMA SQ category? i'm asking because older Helix are not powerfull at all..

The new bass knob/amp combos I’ve seen have an adjustment for the voltage. Both of my Bluetooth D4S knobs are about 1/2 volt low all the time. Frustrating.

You can adjust by turning the tiny pot on the end of the amp. Look for the little hole in the endplate

Which channels does that remote control? Also, would you recommend this amp for someone running the one audio mb3, Steven’s tweeters, one audio 8” midbass and two 12w6? I kno the math adds up I’m not asking you to do that lol but I’m just looking for clean SQL, will I be happy?
