Born and raised in the Ville, loved it growing up. We always had something to do. Little League baseball, Friday night football, the dances at the High Shaft, the festivals downtown and the food! I go there just to get Steve's and DiCarlo's. Been going to Cool's all my life and can't forget Capri's.
Grew up in Follansbee and spent lots of time in downtown Steubenville during the 70's. I can vividly remember standing in front of The Hub to watch the Christmas Parade down market St. and then walking over to Kreegan & Co. to look at the puppets and the trains. I still have family in Steubenville and every time I return I like to hit up Steve's Fish & Chips. You are correct, Camroy, it's the best fish sandwich around.
My dad grew up in Steubenville & I actually have good memories of visiting my grandparents there in the 1960s & 70s. They lived on Logan Street just a few hundred feet from the Ohio River. Dad said the neighborhood was referred to as "the Patch" (i.e. potato patch) when was a kid since most families there were of Irish descent.
Been there 21 months from Cleveland. Back and forth, I cry tears of joy when I see that Jefferson County sign on the highway. I love my Steubenville. 💜
Going to see my Italian family there next week I enjoy some parts of downtown, like the bread shop which has now changed hands and the great Maple Sticks at the bakery.
Steubenville really isn't bad at all. I've been there like 3 or 4 times. It's just a typical, Appalachian city in Ohio. There are cities that are much worse. I'd be more cautious about walking alone in parts of Pittsburgh which is 55 minutes away.
Nah there’s not a lot of cites much worse than that 💩hole even in Ohio Pittsburgh is way better even though it has some really bad parts it has a lot of good parts can’t say the same about Steubenville only a couple parts are good and the overwhelming majority of it is a drg infested cesspool with overwhelming corruption
Read quite a lot about Steubenville in the Dean Martin book ‘Living high in the Dirty Business of Dreams’ and always regretted not dropping in to see it when I came out from Australia for my Road Trip around America, now I think .. hmmm maybe it was a good thing.
Your a little late. The town has disappeared somewhat over the years. Allot of the buildings are gone. Our mall is empty. The downtown was so great in the 1970s.
When is the Greek Festival?? I live in Pittsburgh. First traveled to Steubenville, around April 2020, during the pandemic.... just looking to go for a drive...had never been down route 22. I think it’s been revitalized a bit since this video was made or no? There is a nice coffee shop that seems to anchor the revitalization.
You just missed the Greek Festival. They always have great food. I guess the revitalization is in the eye of the beholder. There is an Apple Festival in Wellsburg Oct 1st. In Wheeling there is a casino, The Highlands is a nice place to shop and eat. Oglebay Park is a great place to visit! In spring thousands of tullips. Coleman's Fish market is good and a few antique shops.
You are absolutely correct like 100 percent and it's crazy cause I walked around I even walked too school big red from the square an now I live down in ytr and no one here will even dare to walk in stuebenville like
Came from a small town in texas to be with my GF here. 2 years so far. Fairly decent but still I feel like its more of a place for those people who are too old to do anything new.
It would be nice if you or someone there could record/replay the evening news on youtube. Dont know if thats legal or not or how its would be done, but would be nice for those of us that moved away.
When i worked at steubenville truck center, I would always have to drive through town. I saw some fucked up people from the time i worked there. There was this one women that went up to my window and she asked me for money for drug money, I looked at her and she looked at me like i was crazy. I drove off and she went up to the person behind me and i'm guessing she asked them the same thing she asked me. Can find some weird people in this part of town. BP gas station is the worst part. I knew someone there and the place got robbed. This happen last year. She quit her job after it happen.
Honestly,Living In Steubenville Isn’t Bad . I Used To Live On Broadway BLVD And Heard Gun Shots From Up The Road So We Moved To The Country / Rural Area Of Ohio And Honestly I Like It Better. it’s more quiet and calm
What? I used to traverse and walk ALL those streets back in 80s. Sure, there were some places that were shady but in the day time I walked EVERYWHERE. Is it that bad now? I doubt it.
Kaz Fleszar its a parking lot. As a matter of fact that has been their motto for years. Tearing a historic building down to make way for a new parking lot. Give me a break. A lot of history buried in that town.
