We were in California and a bunch of people got off of a cruise ship there in San Francisco. They were all sick and had been sick for several days. The cruise was 14 days and they were all sick for at least half of it. We were waiting to board the plane and you could hear, a bunch of people coughing. It was a four hour flight to Atlanta. When I got home, two days later, I got it. I don’t know what’s going on with cruises right now, but I would not take one.
It's a cruise ship. They don't usually include "80% chance one of you is going to catch a bug" on the brochures. It's inevitable that people will get sick on a cruise ship. It has always been the case. Nothing new. Included in the price of the ticket.
Filthy things cruise ships. Not just passengers getting ill …. The trail of garbage and sewage they leave in their trail should be against whatever laws we have left
They're just a microcosm of our lives on land. Sewage, garbage, consumption of anything & everything. Visit your garbage, recycling, or sewage treatment center - it's not pretty.
Even if i'm not sick and I hear someone hurl------------------------I'm puking as well. I can't think of anything worse than being on a plane and hear someone puke.
Me too, they call me a “sympathetic puker”…..they put me in a hospital room with a Puker once, I ended up with a private room for the duration….. I couldn’t walk to leave so thinking about being stuck on a plane with more than one makes me really anxious!! 🍀
Royal Caribbean was the only ship docked that day and that same ship had a norovirus out break in April. It seriously sounds like they didn’t clean that ship. That stuff can live on surfaces for months
I've never understood what is so inviting to be in middle of deep ocean, stuck with bunch of strangers who are there to lavish themselves and party... No way! Breeding ground for all sorts of non-desirable happenings.
I've been on 1 in my life and I was so sea sick I've never been on another, I've been on many boats since then but no cruises, it's been over 15 years.
If it’s a contagious virus then yes it does have to do with the plane because the people have been exposed. And then the people will go to their destination and expose more people. Did we not just go through a pandemic???
Then don't touch any door handles, fly on planes, ride public transportation, go into schools, restaurants, concerts, amusement parks, public bathrooms, etc., etc... just live in a bubble at home.
Actually, I'm not sure he even realized what he said there. Like, he's 'live' at an airport even though the plane in question is not even seen on the screen, which kind of makes going 'live on location' a moot point, right? I'm not feeling a whole bunch of faith in this reporter to be honest.
I love traveling and have been to many states and countries but had never been on a cruise… my mom basically guilt trip me into going on a cruise with her about 2 weeks ago… long story short, both of us felt sick afterwards. I feel 80 percent better but mom is still feeling sick😔
I don't get it. Why not check into a five star hotel for a week instead? For the price of a cruise, I could stay on the Miracle Mile in Chicago, see the symphony, take in a museum, and enjoy world class restaurants, all without having to watch oldsters in pajamas stuffing their faces with third-rate food.
Sounds to me like norovirus from the cruise… unfortunately a lot more on that plane that were not on the cruise will come down with it.. highly contagious… my daughter and I picked it up from a cruise out of Galveston many years ago… relatives that visited us right after the cruise before we knew we were sick also came down with it… if more people from that flight don’t get sick you will know it was probably food poisoning.
I’m thinking more and more that I’m better off wearing a mask when I fly. I don’t like wearing masks but I also don’t like getting sick. It’s been so nice having a hybrid work schedule that I rarely get sick now. I used to get sick all the time before the pandemic and it would take me a week to recover. Waste of PTO or sick days. Much prefer to use my sick days for regular check ups or just take a personal day. Lol.
Literally after every cruise, 25% of the people on the ship get sick last day or day after. Correction- If you want to estimate how many people are getting ill on your cruise you simply join cruise talk groups before, during, and after your cruise. You can gauge how many people are feeling ill by the number of registered people in the group vs. number of people complaining about sickness vs. the number of people that boarded your ship. Example NCL Dawn holds 2,350. 500 people total on cruise talk, perhaps 100 comments about getting sick. Estimate 5% of that cruise got sick during/after.
I don't know the stat but I used to watch a man who make a living doing cruise content and many of the comments did mention how easy it was to get ill on a cruise.
On our last night on our cruise two weeks ago we were walking to our cabin and this girl said, “ wouldn’t u know it, I got sick on the last day!”. Needless to say, when I got home had a sore throat and then a nasty cold! I also saw some lady cough just into the air while waiting for the elevator. Never fails. There will always be these virus’s floating around. 🤷🏼♀️
Don't piss off cruise ship workers they are the ones making your foods. I've been on a few cruises where I see self entitled narcissistic people yelling and screaming at innocent workers because the foods weren't there fast enough. Arrogance and condescension can land you in hot water. Just saying.
It should not be happening all the time. People need to learn how to wash their hands, stay home when sick, et cetera . . . tbh, if this is likely either noro virus or food poisoning.
Stomach illness not COVID! Trying to lock us down again any incident will provide a reason! I got sick on an Alaskan cruise about 15 years ago. I didn’t learn my lesson bc I’m going again in 5 days!!! Yikes!!
If 77 people from the same cruise ship gets sick. It could be a new strain of covid 19 so that’s why they had to quarantine them. But nausea and vomiting could be caused by unsanitary practices with food prep on the cruise and not stomach flu.
I remember when l was much younger coming back to uk from Mexico very ill and rushing to the loo every 5 minutes. The Air Stewardess got really angry with me rather than saying do you want an aspirin? Or are you OK? That made the situation 10 times worse.
In the 70's, me and some family members flew to Europe for vacation. I don't know what happened but halfway over the Pacific, the toilet paper ran out because so many people were running to the bathrooms. I had to see a doctor and totally missed one day of touring. It affected my digestive system to the point I couldn't eat pasta for years as it would cause diarrhea.
All these sick peeps had Norovirus…….commonly know as barfing bc they didn’t wash their hands and were on a cruise ship . Take lots of the pink stuff and it will get better soon 😊
According to the news, several passengers had been on a cruise. That doesnt mean all passengers on the plane that were sick. 25 of 75 in a group, Possibly Radiance of the Seas which was at port on 5/31 if they flew out same day as disembarkation. If whatever the cause was contracted from a cruise. Food poisoning can even take up to 3 days or longer depending on the type of bacteria. Some can ferl it wothin 30 minutes.
Why do people travel? Restaurants are disgusting, hotel rooms are awful. Every surface of a restaurant is a pathogen party & hotel rooms are barnyard equivalents.
Sounds familiar. And YET AGAIN, people are falling for it. So the one guy that was interviewed didn't even know what they were talking about. You would think he would if several people were getting sick and vomiting on the flight. They can't even name the cruise they were on? They ALL got sick at the same time??? I call BS folks. Just look at the comments on this thread to see how easily people fall back into the same old behaviors they did during the last scare.
