I'm so happy to see this comment! Because he looks so young to have 44 years old and now he's 47 and looks so boyish and stunning!

Whatever he does next will be fantastic. I can not wait to see what his next artistic endeavor will be. A totally original mind and vision.

I feel like Baby Driver was to Wright's filmography what 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' was to Wes Anderson's. Everything was pulled off perfectly, but somehow it didn't have as much heart as some of the earlier films. Great to watch, but also forgettable and just "too" smooth... there was something more special about his earlier films (except for The World's End). Baby Driver seemed like Wright had just 'gone through the motions' while making Baby Driver. I wonder if this just happens to every director after a dozen films...

"The World's End" was a great movie. It had a great story with sympathetic characters, detailed meticulous foreshadowing, and themes that relate to the whole Cornetto trilogy (perpetual adolescence, individuals against a collective, etc.) while still delivering as just much emotion as "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz".

This wasn't made after a dozen films. It was like his 5th movie. But in regards to your comment about it being "too smooth", I agree. I think part of it was because of the movie's larger budget. They also shot it on film but then went over everything digitally to smooth out the edges and I think that hurts the film and makes it look like a commercial or something.

What damning comments on dubbing. The main reason a movie does not play well when dubbed is that... the dubbing is poor. There are some exceptions, in particular with comedy- comedy is sometimes difficult to translate well. Of course the original will always be better. And i personally prefer to read subtitles if needed. But poor dubbing is a thing, and directors should maybe pay more attention!

I've loved Wrights other movies and I'm impressed with Wright himself, but I couldn't finish Baby Driver. So awkward, so miscast...

I'm not sure if it's the lighting, camera setup or postproduction but I noticed some skin tone issues - it's a bit washed out, overexposed and monochromatic. Anyway, Baby Driver didn't grab me as much as his other stuff (quite funny yet trying to be serious and failing) but it grew on me. I'll quote Adam Koebel and say it was a way better musical than La La Land :)

@dp30

What question would you have liked him to answer?
@ottolaakso1944
@ottolaakso1944 6 лет назад
'How do you feel that one of the actors in your latest film has been recently exposed as a sexual predator?' Obviously, Wright isn't in anyway complicit in Spacey's actions, but I think his silence on the issue is a bit disturbing. The revelations came only months after his movie was released, and Wright did press with him while promoting the film.
@ottolaakso1944
@ottolaakso1944 6 лет назад
Well, you don't know until you ask him, do you? But if you want to get into it, what can Wright say about Baby Driver that he hasn't already said during all the press he has done since it came out? Why would one single question 'overshadow' Wright's work? And why does the quality of work affect the right to ask a question? If he had done a worse job would it be more ok to ask that question?

I wonder how many times Kevin Spacey tried to diddle Ansel Elgort and he just sat in the corner and watched.

Are you talking about Scot Pilgrim, The worlds End and Baby Driver cos if you are - REWATCH them, you are dead wrong.
@ThreadBomb
@ThreadBomb 6 лет назад
My opinion of Scott Pilgrim has improved (already _loved_ it but thought it flawed). I only wish he'd included the bathroom Nega-Scott scene, just to make Scott's arc a bit clearer. World's End remains a disappointment. Haven't seen Baby Driver yet.
