The continuation of the MPFI conversion. In this video I show you how to extend the TPS and IACV wiring and also create a subharness for the fuel injectors and the injector resistor box. I also show you where the injectors and the resistor box need to be pinned into the Ecu. I also offer any small tips that may have helped me in the past complete the MPFI conversion.

You speak and work as if you've done this a thousand times, I love how clear and accurate you work, thank you kindly from one Honda guy to another! I would so like to ask if you can confirm if an obd1 (92, 93) IACV will plugNplay on my "obd0" (90, 91) DA9 Integra? They're both two wire, thanks again!

Road Worthy wow, really love the comment!! thanks so much! Those plugs are exactly the same. I even believe the obd2 is the same, it's been forever since I've touched an obd2 car though.

Road Worthy forgot to add, sometimes the size is different on the iacvs. I've seen some which have the two mounting bolts closer together. I do not know why some are different though.

Thanks a lot! I'm currently working at an O'Reilly parts store and have access to huge savings and discounts so I figure now's the time although about 4 months ago there was an OBD0 specific IACV available those seem to have been discontinued, the 92-93 valves are also made by BWD but have different part numbers.

Post an update here if you get a chance, would love to make sure they are all compatible with one another being obd1 and obd0.

The bolt pattern on the OBD1 (92, 93) integra is different on the manifold so my boss recommended I go back a year, and sure enough the 1989 Integra IACV fits my 90 (And should fit 91) model Integra's.

Jon, your service to the EF community is outstanding! I am so glad I subscribed. This takes a lot of the mystery out of what lives behind my engine. I already have an Si, (Tahitian Green: the most 1991iest colour! Yay!) so everything was done at the factory, but now I know what to do, if ever I have to take put the IM. This video is EXCELLENT, but if you will permit me one expression of selfishness, I would like to know what are the components, for which you replaced the vacuum hoses? I am super-noob, and it's hard trying to figure this stuff out on my own.
@GarageBuiltHondas
@GarageBuiltHondas 7 лет назад
They are all emissions components. The MAP sensor & charcoal canister are the 2 directly connected to those lines that I replaced. If you want to understand more about what they do, Google both. It'll give you some pretty in depth detail about how they work.

I love your content!! I have learned so much watching your videos. I have followed the steps in the guide as far as I can. I have a couple of doubts, to see if you can give me a hand. -The conversion of the injectors, all perfect. -The wiring of the 4-wire lambda probe, everything perfect. -Prolong both TPS and IACV, all perfect. My doubt comes when removing the pins from the old connector, to make them coincide with those of the new distributor, D16z6, I understand that 5 coincide, right? The other two are the new ones that need to be wired to the ecu? Are they C1 and C2? Thank you very much!!

I'll said it again, super cool videos @Jon Widmer, I have a question, if I want to use a 92-95 intake manifold with injectors and fuel rail of that year, all the connections are the same? The TPS, IAC, IAT etc, I didn't know that for the d16a6 intake are the same connectors, and do I need to use the resistor box even with the 92-95 injectors?
@GarageBuiltHondas
@GarageBuiltHondas 7 лет назад
Kevin Martinez Yes they are. You'll need to wire the obd1 injectors together to not use the resistor box.

Sick videos man ! Really excited to do this! Just picked up a 90 EF Dx Hatch to mess with on the side and this is a perfect first mod. 2 Question for yah. 1 What gauge wire are you using to make the harness. 2 What more would i need to do to use a obd1 ecu instead of a obd0 ecu, my long term goal is to do a mini me swap with low comp rods and pistons and just do a cheap ebay turbo kit and have some fun and my understanding is obd1 is much easier to tune
@GarageBuiltHondas
@GarageBuiltHondas 7 лет назад
16 gauge Obd1 Is the way to go for your future plans. You'll need the subharness for the ECU and distributor plugs if you don't want to re-pin them, and that is the easiest route to go. And also the heated o2 sensor will need to be wired in but not very difficult either.

The only question I had, was at @12:20 I saw that you had the connector to the resistor box, but when the screen changed all the wires were hooked up from the fuel injectors. Does it matter in what order they are wired up? Thank you, and great write up, I will be using a socketed PR4

So if I'm doing this conversion and the obd0 to obd1 swap at the same time, I can just run the 4 yellow/black wires from the injectors directly to the wire coming from the a15 pin on the ecu to bypass the resistor box. Is that correct?

I have a question about that swap. So I understand everything that’s going on in that video but i need some info about converting to obd1 or 2 injectors. From the DPFI. So I assume that I would do everything the same with A1-A3-A5-A7 but the A15 wire which would normally go to the resistor.? What if I don’t need a resistor for my injectors? Where would a15 go ? And also the yellow wires for each injector that would normally go to the resistor. ? I’m doing a b series with the obd1 Ecu chipped ect.. I’ll have a jumper for knock, VTEC, O2 ect... and a obd0 to obd1 jumper aswell for the main. ? Would I tie the yellow wires if ea Injector directly too a15? Skipping the resistor?

I'm really enjoying your videos. I've been bingeing them all day, LOL... Its really motivating me for my EF sedan.... I want to do a b series turbo, just don't know which B series.. I'm leaning towards non vetted b20. Or maybe a k series but I'm not sure if the OEM hood would close. Do you know if EF's with Series are able to close the hood? the K series seems like a tall engine.
@GarageBuiltHondas
@GarageBuiltHondas 6 лет назад
+LockTest I'm loving that you've been watching and commenting, it means a lot to me to make videos that people enjoy!! You seem relatively new to swaps? If so, the b20 non vtec is a wonderfully inexpensive engine to buy, yet they can be super potent with the right mods. I absolutely love the way mine feels and it's perfect for me on how I drive it at the track. I think it would be a great start for you, without throwing all your money at just an engine. The K swaps are unmatched. Unfortunately the k20 will fit the best but may require some hood trimming and possibly lowering the engine but it's a tough fit still. The K will be a ton more in cost, even a budget K swap would probably be close to $3000 completely.
@JEMHull-gf9el
@JEMHull-gf9el 6 лет назад
Yes I'm actually new to the Honda swaps. I've done an m50b25/turbo swap on an 1988 BMW 325i, at around 1.2 bar it made 467whp 443ft/lbs. The EF sedan will be my first foray into Hondas and japanese cars in general. Thats why I;m finding your channel so helpful and enjoyable as I'm so new to hondas and their potential. I like the idea of a k swap as its the most modern but I love the stock appearance of the ef sedan a lot so I'm not keen on having to trim up the hood, So that why the b20 seems appealing. good potential and a seemingly straight forward swap.
@GarageBuiltHondas
@GarageBuiltHondas 6 лет назад
+LockTest you could spend a little more and get a b18c1 GSR engine. Dohc vtec, very nice power and with bolt ons and tune can easily make 180whp. That would be really fun in an EF sedan!

Hey Jon avid Subscriber Here to your EF videos. You simply have a gift for making these D.I.Y videos... You almost never cut out any steps in videos and have the ability to keep me hanging on every word along the way. I recently got myself another EF hatch in 89 DX to be exact. And also just like you I am in the preparation stages of dropping in a B20 into it. this isn't my first go about when I was 21 about 10 years ago had a 91 DX hatch with the B18 A1 swap in it but unfortunately the guy who did most of the swap didn't really give me directions thoroughly throughout the swap mostly let me defend for myself once the swap is done but ended up pulling it and installing it two or three times but now getting ready to do the full thing myself from the dual point setup I am finding out about the whole multi point conversion needed to be done. I was wondering if you could answer me the quick question and let me know if I'm headed in the right direction but I have a B20 with a LS intake on it and all OBD1 components that came from a 92 OBD1 da Integra. So I got the pr4 ECU I believe was the number might have to double-check with the same dizzy that came on the car and injectors as well as the the original engine harness and a OBD2 harness on the side if any wires are needed. My question is is this setup you got for all the sensors and vacuum lines roughly the same to an extent for the p75 intake manifold from the DC Integra? Would following your instructions Point me in a direction to get to where I can get plugged in with what I have? I know I will pry still need the ECU jumper to run the ECU through the car harness into the engine harness correct? And Leslie is running a pr4 ECU on a OBD1 p75 intake manifold going to cause me any issues or do you think it's a better route to go with the intake off the 92 LS instead? I'm sorry comment was as long as it was but I've watched hours upon hours and given that you have a B20 in your EF hatch which I believe is also in 89 I was just hoping you could point me in the best Direction. I'm in Colorado so emissions are fairly lenient here. By the way I'm literally mid way through the rear disc conversion from the da on to the EF from your video but have just been played by doubt from this mpfi conversion and really not wanting to have to drop three to four hundred dollars on a conversion harness at this point. And I believe you're the man that can shine light into the darkness LOL thanks man hope you can take a minute to lend some words to an eager ear with steady hands ready to follow.
@GarageBuiltHondas
@GarageBuiltHondas 6 лет назад
So you believe you're running a PR4? See if it's obd0 or obd1. I've read that some of the 92-93 Integras had an obd1 pr4 and some with the p75. You can use any of the Integra LS intake manifolds, that's your choice. The sensors will have the same plugs on all of them. The distributor is different from obd0-obd1 though. Are you wanting to go obd1? Because if not, you'll still need to do the dpfi to mpfi swap, but that's not difficult, just tedious. Hope that helps, if I missed something or you need more clarification, let me know.
@mattyb.8655
@mattyb.8655 6 лет назад
Garage Built Hondas Yea it's an PR4 OBD1 ECU out to a 93 DA Integra LS I'm using it as my part car for the B20 Swap. Just did the rear disc conversion. Question for you... is that one still your tracker the EF with the B20 in it? Are you running the B16 tranny on it and did you stay cable I opted to go with the GSR cable tranny given that it's going to be kind of my weekend fun drive car so I can get my 01 Integra off the street everyday if you will see it in my profile picture and I got a K24 waiting to get enough funds for the K swap package and have some real fun in my LS Integra that just by the looks of it now constantly get people trying to race.

I'm seriously considering buying a rust-less White 1988 GL civic 1.5 ltr within the next week. Just have to go and take a look at it and take it for a drive. Damn, I haven't been this excited about a car purchase, for about 12 years ahaha. I'm just wondering what would be the cost now in parts to do the conversion? in USD is fine, I'll just convert it to AUD :) the last question is, what did it do to the mileage per tank at normal driving vs "spirited" driving? did it become a lot more thirsty? Thank you in advance and thank you for the informative clip. If I buy the car, once the work is done, I'll post some links to some pictures of it with the work completed if you like.

We are close but only have 2 injectors working ( Cylinders 1 AND 2) We are installing a1990 Integra B18 MPFI into a 1990 Honda Civic DPFI. My questions is does the ECU have to be a PM 4 ? Right now we are working with the Civic's stock ECU which is a PM 5. We also have the integra's ECU which is PR4. Do we need to locate a Civic PM4 to fire all the injectors in the B18 ? Thanks

Hey Kenny, thanks for using my video! You can use the PM6 (88-91 Civic/CRX ECU) but the PR4 (90-91 Integra) is the best. I had a friend using a PM6 for a few months in his CRX B18 swapped, but he said the car ran much better when we swapped over to the PR4. Good luck, I hope you all get it running well!

Hi Jon, is there any benefit to using a CRX SI head (I have one with its cam and intake manifold for my conversion)? Or Is the D15b1 head the exact same thing and the difference in power with the SI Is the mpfi intake manifold and camshaft? (of course the slight bump in displacement as well).
@GarageBuiltHondas
@GarageBuiltHondas 6 лет назад
The camshaft is better in the A6. My first ever MPFI was a swapped A6 head onto a B2 block and it felt great. It was just easier at that time because I had the head rebuilt because I wanted it fresh. The cam definitely will help.

@GarageBuiltHondas
@GarageBuiltHondas 6 лет назад
No, it'll be a nice upgrade and give a little extra bump in power. My wagon that is mpfi now could really benefit from the cam. It made 10-11 wheel HP at the dyno going from dpfi to mpfi. The cam might have made a couple more I imagine.

Terrific video. Quick question. In your video you were replacing what you called "vacuum" lines but were swapping a hose to the fuel pressure regulator. Are vacuum hoses safe for carrying fuel? My current knowledge is that you use either a fuel, heater, or vacuum hose depending on the application. I thought vacuum was only for lines with just air and no fluid. Thank you for your time and help!
@GarageBuiltHondas
@GarageBuiltHondas 7 лет назад
The top nipple of the FPR is a vacuum hose. No gasoline goes through that line. The return line which goes off the bottom of the regulator is made for gas. But no, vacuum lines cannot be used for gas or coolant. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate you asking!!
