Main things: Don't drink cold water. Don't drink too fast, too much (unless you're replenishing electrolytes) or too quickly, or while eating (to avoid inefficient digestion) Obviously, tea, soda and the like are not water. I mean, it's a few tips, wouldn't call it CoMpLicAtEd. I think this helps to avoid ACTUAL physical complications if anything.
Can I just say that the only reason I have a RU-vid account is because of Dr. Berg. I already tanked Facebook because of all it’s censorship and fake accounts promoting propaganda. I see the direction RU-vid is going as well, but I’ve got to have my daily Dr. Berg video with my morning coffee. Everything else on RU-vid I could certainly live without. Thank you Dr. Berg for educating me on true health and wellness. You are a valuable inspiration in my life!
Me, too. Dr.Berg is amazing. He cares about people, he is serving not only in America, together as universally. We live in South Asia, the Maldives. In the lock down 2020, I came to know him and joined to his channel. It's like he is my personnel Dr. I refer to his many advise. Thanks a lot, Dr.Berg.
Mistakes in drinking water 1. Drinking too much depleting minerals 2. Drinking too fast, causing sodium imbalances 3. Drinking the wrong fluids. Coffee, tea are dehydrating 4. Drinking water with meals, keep low 5. Drinking a lot of cold water can slow down vagus nerve 6. Drinking tap water
Also there is aboslutely nothing wrong with tap water, specicially in Los Angeles where I was living till recently. Studies show that water - so heavily regulated - is actually safer to drink than most bottled (type in google what I just wrote there and read the research yourself - you can't post links)
My older son drank to much water a month ago and landed up in the emergency room for depleted sodium in his blood. My wife and I also eat a lot of fruit and veggies/variety of salads to aid in our hydration. Great videos as always. Thank you and keep up the good work.
One more thing that is very important. Drink spring water if you can. It's not stripped of the mineral's that are essential to optimal health. Look it up. It's the best water you can drink. Distilled, purified not as good. Stay hydrated and have a good day.
I appreciate the fact that you label sections in your description, it shows you actually care about getting the information to the public. It means a lot, you also save us a lot of time by summarizing and not running on and baiting just to be heard. You’re one of the greats, keep it up 🙌🏾
Too much water created a lot of stomach issues with me. When I ate, always drank water to feel more full. But it diluted my natural stomach acids so my body started creating too much acid. All fixed up now thanks to Dr Berg!
I feel like that’s what’s going on with me. I drink a lot of water but been having digestive issues for the past few months. What did you do differently ?
@@madhouse2303 I stopped drinking water with meals, I started taking a tbsp of apple cider vinegar in 2 tbsp water nightly. I did more but am not a doctor. If you look up more of Dr Berg's videos, you will find more. Also stop eating store bought breads. If you can, find white spelt bread and bake your own!
This is so true about drinking to much water. A few years ago drinking to much water caused me to become severely dehydrated and had to be hospitalized. Come to find out my magnesium and potassium levels were extremely low, which caused accelerated heart rate. The water was acting as a diuretic and I was flushing out nutrients and not replenishing them with a supplement or vitamin. Thanks Dr. Berg for your videos!
@@moniquedennis313 yes! after ending a detox i began to consume a large amount of water daily, assuming it was healthy, however i was weak sluggish and more dehydrated, even cramping more during workout and cardio. After consulting with my doctor I learned that i was flushing out mineral's and salts my body needed. I then balanced off my water intake, along with taking vitamins, electrolytes and supplements, healthy fruits and green veggies etc. within a week i was feeling more energize and hydrated.
I've been studying natural medicine on my own, and using it, for 40 years. All of the points you have brought up in this video are valid, for sure. I cringe when I see someone gulp down a huge icy sodapop with a meal. The end result is a net loss of hydration, and ice-cold drinks deactivate digestive enzymes. And people wonder why they have digestive problems! And so they take an antacid, which only exacerbates the problem. Years ago my aged mother had a heart attack, and while in the hospital, she developed edema in her feet due to congestive heart failure. She was at Loyola Hospital in Maywood, and the chief cardiologist there put her on water restriction. For my mom, a big water drinker, this was like dying and going to hell. I spoke with the cardiologist, and told him that water restriction has the opposite effect because it causes the body to hoard water. I told him that she should have all the water she wants, and it should be distilled water because distilled water lowers the osmotic pressure in the intestines, which helps to draw off the excess water. But I knew he would not take that seriously. After all, he was brainwashed in medical school and therefore knew better. And so, I took it upon myself to visit my mom every evening. I brought distilled water, and gave her as much as she wanted. She drank like a fish. The edema vanished very quickly. I called the doctor from my job and asked him how things were going with my mom. He was very happy. He said the diuresis treatment was very successful, and her edema was gone. I said, "I know. Now, let me tell you why that happened." He was speechless, and ended the call. This was back in October of 2003. Now, it is my understanding that the medical racket has changed its protocol for edema, and drinking lots of water is encouraged. I can't help wonder if that overpaid idiot promoted that treatment modality and took credit for it.
This is so relevant to especially elderly woman who may have suffered with a UTI and then told to drink as much fluids as possible. My mother’s sodium fell dangerously low and then suffered from delirium because of an imbalance of electrolytes.. please be careful everyone
6:41 - Tap water also tastes foul to me. Everyone always criticises me saying " all water tastes the same" when obviously it doesnt, especially if its got all sorts of chemicals in it.
Right! Idk where you live but here in Australia, our tap water/pipes are in good condition and our water is safe to drink - but they put Fluoride in it so it tastes like chlorine 🤢
I was hospitalized for drinking too much water. Had severe trembles, went into convulsions. Not proud. We were in very high altitude and had a party to go to that night so I drank massive quantities of water. Was taken by ambulance. Hospitalized for three days with a team of doctors treating me. I wish I knew this before. Thank you Doctor .
Dr. Berg is one of the most honest and best doctors out there. Appreciate him sharing his knowledge which was not co-opted by the system and him being independent. Coming from doctors family, my husband and I are extremely picky and selective with health information out there, but Dr. Berg is someone we both truly appreciate. Thank you, Dr. Berg for all you do.
Hyponatremia is not fun. A few years back I hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and had forgotten to pack my electrolytes. It was the middle of August but usually the heat doesn’t bother me. Drank heaps of water and flushed my body. As soon as I started climbing back out I was in trouble. Energy gone. Vomiting every few hundred yards. Was lucky to get out of that one.
Well I drank too much water at one time cause I needed to pee in a cup for Truck Driving School. Ummm needless to say Hyponatremia came into picture. A few hours later after all the salt left my body. I ended up at a Walgreens somehow and unintelligibly tried to talked to pharmacist before collapsing. Had my first seizure there on the floor and then another at hospital. Don't do it kids it can kill ya .
I am quite surprised after watching this video, cuz one of my aunt was recommended by a doctor in Pakistan that she must reduce the amount of water she is taking and we were surprised how water can be dangerous for someone. Now it totally makes sense, she used to take water all the time and almost no electrolytes at all. Plus she was recommended not to take water during meal, as I remember she used to take water after every couple of bites of her meal. Life requires balance in everything.
Tap water really depends on your region. In places like Bermuda - rainwater is collected and stored by individual houses. It really comes down to how clean you keep your tank. Chlorine and Flouride - are practically none existent in the majority of tanks.
When I was growing up, I basically never drank water because tap water tasted disgusting to me, and this was before filters were common. It's funny to think that contrary to my mom's scolding, I was actually making a good health decision.
I’m glad you mentioned the kidney stones. I have kidney disease and have had 3 surgery’s because of stones. Turns out I was not drinking enough water. I used to go for a whole day without water. I now drink lots of water and take magnesium citrate tabs which has helped. Kidney stones and disease produced some of the worst pain I ever had. Found out in the emergency room how great morphine can be.
My late husband was susceptible to kidney stones, but it was hard to get him to drink enough water. His doctor suggested mixing in lemon juice and sweetener to 8 oz. He would rather have coffee... but eventually came around to the idea.
@@deee5520 calcium supplements cause kidney stones. I wouldn't recommend taking calcium supplements at all. Wish more people were aware of how unhealthy they are. If you eat a balanced diet, you shouldn't need any calcium tabs. Magnesium and vitamin d are best for bones and help your body absorb the calcium you eat.
Thanks Dr Berg, a subtle reminder always helps us😁. I’d pick water over any other drink, it’s the only one that satisfies my thirst. A lot of us don’t know what thirst is, as we mix it up with what we think is hunger. I always drink 500mls of water on waking, black tea with breakfast, 2 x cappuccino’s mid-morning, and the rest of the days it’s black tea and water. I use a jug filter (after off-gassing the chlorine; by leaving the water in a container without a lid, for half to an hour) and the jug is our guide to how much water we consume, and I think we are spot on. I also take an electrolyte supplement, along with vit D. I class us a pretty healthy, we always have plenty of veg, protein and especially as we are cutting out carbs and sugars. Thank you for sharing your great knowledge, I wish all doctors knew as much as you about nutrition!
That happened to me. I was trying to get really healthy drinking lots of water. I was on blood pressure med. Started getting strange symptoms. I was washing out all my sodium.started eating alot more salt and after 3 days symptoms went away. Have a blessed day.
Just wanted to say "Thank You" Dr Berg for the 6 things to remember when drinking water, it was truly thought provoking, and informative, God Bless you Dr. Berg!
I always hated diets that made me consume large amounts of water; I always ended up with heart palpitations and malaise. Thankfully, Dr. Berg’s, balanced instruction gave me confidence to listen to MY body and find the proper amount that allowed me to lose weight but stay invigorated at the same time! Bless you, Dr. Berg!🙏🏻
@@julia1334 alkaline water is simply more nutrient dense. Basically the opposite of distilled water. You can drink either in small amounts and both have health benefits. You shouldn't drink large amount of either right away and do more research before starting anything.
Thanks! You answered many questions I have had over many years. I've had countless so-called educated physicians tell me that it's just fine to drink Any fluids while having diarrhea & chronic mal-absorption and exocrine pancreatic insufficiency & slow bowel motility disorders!! I also struggle with Sjogren's Syndrome & a host of chronic pain & disabling medical conditions but I have found Very FEW medically trained doctors that can help without writing prescription.... I appreciate your information & knowledge 👍💯!
As a Floridian exercising and gardening out of doors a spent much of my life clueless and guzzling water. Now I drink from athletic squirt bottles to slow me down. You have explained why I used to swell. Thank you. As a cyclist I got a recipe of adding part high quality coconut water, OJ and a bit of salt to my water. Now I alternate that and a bottle of straight water during workouts in our high 80 to high 90 days. I am always grateful for you tips, education and reminders of things I have forgotten.
According to Dr. Be r g, use pink Himalayan sea salt only....regular sea salt, even Celtic, is loaded w PLASTIC!! And talbe salt contains aluminum. They're trying to kill us, I swear.
My mom who is 86 and is great health! Told me most of these things 20plusyears ago. So great to have the reminder!! You would love chatting with my mom… she’s a self taught nutritionist that has learned like you from all the research she has done through many years of working on getting her health back in the 70’s. So thankful to have her and her knowledge! Thank you dr berg!

Very informative! I actually cannot drink cold water as easily as everyone else I prefer room temperature. Can you please make a video on how hot cold and warm water affects the body?
I’m the exact same way! I don’t like cold water, and I do find it hard to drink. I almost always drink room temperature water, and the only exception is if I’m outside and it’s hot.
This happened to me twice. I was drinking more than a gallon a day. Got to day 2 and my heart rate sped up, and bloodpressure skyrocketed. I thought I was going to die. The doctors were checking everything but electrolytes. The ER doctors gave me BP meds. Which helped some. Another time this happened is when I was taking antibiotics. So for some reason antibiotics must deplete electrolytes as well. I had to figure this out on my own. So now I’m careful to keep my electrolytes in balance. Was a horrible experience.
I drink water very fast sometimes and throw up. It’s not an insane amount but you mentioning drinking water too quickly blew my mind because I thought I was the only one! Could not explain it!
i love to drink alot of water when i feel like drinking alot of water but i do agree as long we are not forcing ourselves to drink alot of water the reason why i love to drink alot of water because that's my favorite drink i only drink water when i feel thirsty and i don't drink water if i don't feel thirsty i don't force myself
I constantly drank water for years and always had a bottle in my hand, 2yrs ago I started taking blackouts and I wasn't eating as everything I was eating or drinking was tasting like salt and I couldn't understand it, I went to the doctors and gave a sample of urine which was orange in colour, the doctor said I was dehydrated and needed drinks to put the electrolytes back in, I said "I constantly drink water how could I possibly be dehydrated" she said I was drinking too much water and I said how can you drink too much water, I was constantly sweating as well, so apparently you can drink too much water, I bought electrolytes for the water and keep himalayan salt in the cupboard, but I still haven't had a cup of tea as it tasted like salt and maybe that's good as I drank a lot of tea as well, I now know that when I start sweating I take some seasalt just a couple of dips in it with my finger, I was the last person I thought would be dehydrated.
As a new diabetic I'm on a few meds, Lactulose and Furosimide which apparently remove magnesium and potassium. I have to take supplements and avoid drinking hue quantities of water despite being thirsty. I usually have a bottle of H20 around me and just sip every 10-20 minutes. Thanks doc!
What is lactulose used for in your case? It was suggested to me for NAFLD (fatty liver), but only the kind with less or no sugar. I'll have to see if Dr. Berg has done a segment on that.
@@beannamated To help whats left of my liver detox my blood. I somehow got Hep A last summer and it severely damaged my liver, panc, and spleen. thank you.
Believe I made this mistake. Started a diet with greatly reduced carbs and sugar. Working out heavily for 4 days a week and drinking a lot of RO water. I almost fainted 3 days in a row during workouts. Now I add electrolytes, Himalayan Sea salt and haven't experienced this issue since.
Yup to last item on the list. I confirm. Chemical Engineer here working with water quality in the US. Most Tap water is not that good anymore. Also, some bottled water is not good. Best thing to do is to learn a bit about filters and treatment systems and install something in your house. I have it under the kitchen sink. A combo with Reverse osmosis and UV light is a good choice most times, but check removal efficiecies for heavy metals, cholorinated volatile organic compounds, and PFAS. Lastly please please maintain your treatment system.
Waiting for Dr. Berg DC to provide evidence for his claim # 4. Did you conduct an experiment where you have followed 5,000 participants for 180 days to monitor fluctuations in stomach acid. Perhaps varying ages, genders, races? Did you allow participants to drink drink water during meals for the first 90 days, then ask them to dirk water after meals for the next 90 days so you can compare stomach acid levels? How long is . If I wait 1 second after eating is that ok? What about 30 seconds? Maybe 5 min? 10min? 1.25hr? 3hr? What is defined as "not during a meal". Equally important, does it even matter if stomach acid levels are diluted? How much is it being diluted? Is this dilution even a concern? For example maybe acid for diluted by 13.7% for 48min. Is that bad? Is the stomach acid still sufficient to digest food? If yes, the why are we even wasting time thinking about this. So again will Dr. Berg DC provide any evidence of his claims? Will he describe the process and mechanism that result in reduced stomach acid. Or... is he just expecting us to believe him because he has the word "Dr" in wrong of his name. What education, experience, and research does Dr. Berg DC have that qualifies him to give an opinion on the merits of delaying water consumption while eating. Maybe it is "bad" to drink water during a meal. Maybe d. But... maybe drinking water during a meal will allow for better bowel movements due to adequate hydration.. So now we have to make a decision to evaluate what is better, reduced stomach acid or reduced hydration. I don't know this. No one reading this comment has the answer. And the Dr does not have the answer. The difference is I am honest. But the Dr is talking with no evidence and everyone here is eating it up in a bowl of confirmation bias. Same thing with the vagus nerve . Any evidence? Medicine is a deep and broad subject. I find it very unlikely that one human in any life time could possibly have the time to become an expert in the area of digestive function AND nervous function. So when we have one person claiming to be an expert in 2 very different fields, it leaves me highly skeptical. The Dr is giving "expert medical opinion" which can alter the daily behaviour of anyone listening and following his advise. So I expect evidence and an explanation to understand if stomach acid reduction is real and if it is a concern.
@@LetsCommentator Yes and this fucking doctor should also explain his credentials, expertise, knowledge, and resources that he is using to make his claims. Otherwise anyone can just make any claim.
A lot of people don't know that Fluoride is found in many water sources naturally, so depending on your area, it may be a good idea to react some of it out before you drink.
Do you know how much criticism I had to endure for all of this ? I didn't know the drawbacks like this video I just always knew it wasn't something I already didn't like or feel good doing it lol 😆 I'm so happy you made a video like this so I can just show it to ppl now why I drink only room temperature water 💦🌊 and not with food, and just enough, and not fast etc..
I've started taking electrolytes this morning (thanks to your advise) and what I've noticed so far is that I haven't been hungry much today, having my first meal shortly (it's now 16:20, UK). This is amazing! I usually feel hungry like, every 2 hours and eat far too much! Tried to fast recently however, that was just not happening, bearly lasted until lunchtime. On average I drink 2.5-3 litres of water per day, drinking tonnes whilst I'm eating too, which I've now stopped or just take a sip if thirsty. I must've been flushing out too much electrolytes and that's why I was constantly hungry. My body obviously was deficient in vital nutrients or minerals etc. I'm guessing anyway, I'm no doctor lol. Thank you so much, will be watching a lot more of your videos 🙏🏻😁
I feel there is something important missing from point six. The quality of tap water varies from location to location. As someone from Berlin, which has pretty good water quality, I was warned even as a child that I should not drink tap water when traveling in countries like the US. Even if it should count for every city in every country, it feels like this point was made way to generally, since it does not cover that.
@@Gripmagic I grew up on a farm. We had well water. Our well had 6 natural springs running into it. It was so good, but had a lot of mineral content. Not necessarily bad, but it was also hard water and was Hell on our hot water heaters. 😁
I've found a liking for sparkling water and while I used to drink 3 or 4 cans of beer each night, now I prefer sparkling water. Having eliminated so much sugar with keto and fasting - and losing 103 pounds in 10 months - beer just tastes like fizzy sugar now. If I fancy some alcohol, like on an all inclusive holiday, I'll have a splash of tequila in soda water. Great channel.
Here, here. I noticed that as I get older, my fascination with beer has really diminished. I still enjoy a good stout, every now and then, but sparkling water with fresh, squeezed lemon, is my choice of beverage. Cheers.
Thank you so much Dr Berg , I can see that you are one of few doctors who say as it being honest when it comes to our health keep on doing what you love to do by teaching some of us about health
There is so much emphasis on drinking lots of water as the default and safe Go-To choice for making someone feel better or for medical treatment that it can result in dire consequences in some cases. I once reported to a hospital emergency room with difficulty breathing and the first thing the doctor orders is 2 large bags of IV fluids. Unknown to me at the time is that I was experiencing congestive heart failure and the fluids were the last thing i needed. My lungs later filled up with all that fluid and it because almost impossible to breathe. I had to be hooked to a large machine on wheels to force air thru while I was administered diuretics to help get rid of all that fluid while repeatedly & painfully coughing it up. Worse shape I've ever been in my entire life and felt like I was slowly dying by suffocation while gasping for every breath. The incompetent doctor that ordered the fluids disappeared from the ER and I never saw him again.
Good video! I think you should have added a point 7 - xenoestrogens. All the chemicals like BPA and similar plastic chemicals that are leached back into the water in bottled water. Avoiding bottled water and drinking filtered water instead is healthier.
Maybe i should try the same. I'm pretty thin but my gut isn't even with swimming and healthy food. I drink lots of water and it's always cold. Should reduce it and drink warm water. Thanks for sharing.
So glad I found this. For so long I've tried to drink the amount of water your told you should drink daily and it makes me feel worse than if I drink when I'm thirsty and my body is telling me I need to do so. When I drink a lot , I have to pee a ridiculous amount of times, it's frustrating. I feel better when I drink less anyway.
I highly recommend following the principles of Japanese Water Therapy. I do this in conjunction with keto diet. Basically don't drink within 45 minutes before eating or within 90 minutes after eating. The old myth of "you have to wash that food down with some liquid" is just rubbish. Look up JWT, there are other health benefits as well.
Same here! About 1 hour before I eat, I drink 6-8 oz of water. No liquids for 90 minutes after. I found it unnecessary to have something to wash down my food because I learned to eat slowly and chew every bite thoroughly. This produces ample saliva and helps the stomach out.
i've read something similar years ago. i'm not sure if the source is the same with what you're referring to. it was actually a doctor that practices alternative medicine that gave me the book and told me about the importance of it. the time was little different though but i feel like it's pretty much the same end results. hers was an hour to two before meal and two hours after meal.
it's very hard to follow though. it's very irresistible not to consume any liquids while having a meal. but in japanese society you often see them consuming warm tea while eating. it actually helps with the digestion and overall health. this is one of the many reasons why they have the longest life span out of any people in the world. since they consume little tea while having meal i don't think it goes against that much with that therapy you're talking about.
Years ago my friend thought it would be a good idea to drink lots of water to clean out her system. She ended up with water poisoning, she actually was dangerously ill and hospitalized. She made a full recovery but never tried that again!
Be careful asking an elderly person to drink too much - my 93 year old dad was advised by a nurse to drink 2 litres a day. Within a couple of weeks he was in hospital for a week with low sodium. He was having strange headaches, slumped on the couch, panic attacks and it took weeks to recover. A horrible time for him. On a lighter note I’m British and I want a ringtone of Dr. Berg saying warhtuur repeatedly. ☺️
I hope she was a PA and not just a nurse going rogue. I like Dr. Berg, but sometimes I wonder the same thing about him. He makes alot of dietary claims and about how the body works without the Doctorate Degree to assure he knows what he is talking about. It seems there is practically nothing he won't tackle.
Maybe she meant 2 litres of fluids everyday, maybe your dad was drinking more than 2l per day. Not trying to defend the nurse but we can be quick to criticise when instructions get mis-interpreted and not carried out correctly.

#4 is a shocker to me when I first moved to the North America. It's 100% being done everywhere. My parents always taught kids not to drink water during meals, just soup, for the exact reason you just said.
Definitely safe. Especially if one is not doing keto, one should use his electrolytes or higher sources of potassium/magnesium at the very least. Because digesting carbs require more of these nutrients.
I probably do numbers 1, 2, 4 and 5 quite often. . . Also its amazing how the human body is such a delicate "structure" and so complicated that even drinking can damage us.
Yes, you can drink too much water. You can actually poison yourself with too much water. But it's pretty hard to do, and it isn't the problem most people have with water, which would be not drinking enough. The oft. cited 8-10 glasses a day certainly isn't too much. For most people, if you just drink when you are thirsty you will be fine. But if you are constipated a lot, or are a senior citizen (especially one who isn't very active), chances are good you aren't drinking enough. Dehydration is a way bigger problem than over hydration.
I have used filters for years. I lived in one part of the country, very small prairie town. There my filter lasted several months before clogging and the change light would come on. Moved to a big city, and the filter clogs up in less than a month sometimes.
I found it very frustrating when I would drink a lot of water and still find myself thirsty, light-headed and just not feeling good, I'm glad I found this and now can improve on that and add some goods to my water that'll keep me healthy and hydrated :)
For millions of years people have drank water. They drank when they were thirsty, they drank when they ate. They didn't have any fancy stuff to add to it. Every other species on the planet has done the same. Somehow life goes on! Don't try to make life complicated.
I used to chug water and go and then i'd wonder why I'd feel so thirsty all the time. I used to think water in a bottle vs water in my stomach. what's the difference? I used to treat it like I'm filling a gas tank. took me a while to figure out you need to hydrate gradually. I still see people doing exactly what I used to do.
... walking around like a young child with a bottle of water in hand - wherever they go - similar to what I did... Continue to do this, and one is sure to end up wearing a nappy too 😅
My dad was going through chemo and it made him have terrible hiccups. He then drank huge amounts of water to try to make that symptom go way (they were painful hiccups). He was taken to the hospital for low sodium. The memory is a very sad one for me. My dad died of pancreatic cancer brought on by taking zantac after having his gallbladder removed years before. Makes me sick to think it all could have been prevented. 60 years old and in excellent health otherwise
I am so sorry for your loss. I am finding as I get older (68) that we have to do our research. I always just ate whatever and prescribed my own OTC meds but now I know what to look for, what to avoid and what to eat that is good for me. Dr. Berg has been a huge factor in helping me sort through the mess.
A few weeks ago I purchased 2 jars of Dr. Berg's Electrolyte Powdered drink with the fantastic mixer bottle. I love it! I bought the raspberry & Lemon flavor and another jar of just the lemon flavor. It is fantastic. I have to drink a lot of water (spring water) throughout the day to take my medications. I'm not on keto and don't exercise, but I do live in Florida and was hospitalized Dec of 2020 for dehydration. So prior to buying the Electrolyte Formula, I was drinking Gatorade Zero....ugh. Dr Bergs formula is 1000 x's better. I also buy his X-tra Strength Gallbladder Formula and Cod Liver Oil Capsules. The Gallbladder Formula had helped me so much. Thank you Dr berg for formulating products like these.
The beard is coming along nicely !!! I drink tap water, I live in Athens, Greece....so I guess i will have to change to mineral water, I usually drink a liter and half in winter and probably two in summer!
Thank you so so much for this informative and helpful video! You always replenish us with sooooo many important moments and topics related to health, and I'm grateful to you for this, Dr. Berg! You're the best! Take care of yourself! 🙌🏽💜

Yep I had hyponatremia and it was horrible! My sodium levels dropped to 120 and gave my muscle spasms all over my body. Luckily the doctors at the emergency room gave me an IV bag with sodium and brought my levesl back up. Too much of anything can be bad for anyone.
Thank you for a 💡 moment. SSRI antidepressants can cause hyponatremia AND rhabdomyolysis, a serious muscle disorder. Now, I have to find out if there is connection or causation. Thank you!
Both my mom and mother in law as elderly, had trips to Emergency because they were not well. Turned out they were dehydrated, not drinking enough and after IV fluids felt better. My mom is gone now but she loved to drink tea and Diet Coke. We had to set up a small container of water that we would add some lemon or fruit to flavour and ensure she drank that each day. So important to drink enough.
Diet coke contains artificial sweeterners which are even more worse than sugar. Best to drink is alcalic water, citirc acid water, or isotonic drinks combined with pure water.
Most regular filters don’t filter out the fluoride. You have to get a special fluoride filter for that. They’re more expensive than the commonly advertised tap filters.

I'm so glad you made this video, Dr Berg. Thank you. I crave for water consistently. I can drink other beverages, but it will not quench my thirst like water does.
The thing is you also get water from foods that you eat as well. Drinking lots of water without taking in enough vitamins, minerals, salts(electrolytes) can actually dehydrate you faster. Make sure you're not only drinking water. Most bottled water also has minerals added(distilled water has little to no minerals and isn't ideal for drinking), but often not enough to help you when you're already severely dehydrated. Drinking water when you're thirsty is obviously a good thing, but make sure you're also eating something with a little bit of potassium, sodium, and magnesium(particularly a balance rather than overabundance). Too much of anything really can be detrimental, while drinking water is certainly better than only drinking tea or coffee, a mix of fluids is certainly better than ONLY water however. Soups with balanced(very important) amounts of water, brother, salt, potassium, magnesium, and other vitamins and minerals are great, but again overdosing can be a problem with a lot of foods having large amount of sodium for preservation and so paying attention to how much you're taking is very important.
@@kingzach74 Thank you for sharing your advice with me. That was really very kind of you. I appreciate your help. Well, now I take different homemade fruit juices during sweltering days. Also love to have soups that help to tackle both thirst and hunger. When I go for a walk I take coconut water though not in regular basis.
How safe tap water is really depends on where you’re from. Here in Amsterdam our tap water is very very safe because we don’t use fluoride or chlorine. It’s pretty neat.
After heavy exercise, horses have to be cooled down and given moderate amounts of water or they get sick. Works the same way with people, obviously, except humans don't usually get colic. But Dr. Berg outlined what does happen. I had a doctor years ago who encouraged me to drink 8 glasses a day; by the middle of the afternoon I felt quite unwell and decided I wasn't going to be able to do that. Another doctor I had until recently told me I HAD to drink a gallon a day. I decided I'd rather drink 4-6 ounces after a rest room break or getting out of bed. That's doable. Since one's urine is supposed to be pale, I'm told, obviously more water is necessary if it isn't.
When I work outside in hot weather I always drink water with an electrolyte powder added that contains calcium, magnesium, sea salt and potassium. The way I gauge if I'm drinking enough water is by drinking enough water that I urinate at normal intervals , my urine is clear and I don't get cotton (dry) mouth. If your urine is yellow and you have cotton mouth you are already dehydrated.
Great point about the diluting of stomach acids which reduces the digestion of protein. Especially for men trying to boost their testosterone. Great Video!
Tap water is depending on the country and city… in Germany it’s more safe than drinking bottled water because it is much more tested then that water from bottled waters

This is so helpful. You've really turned my life around. Please do some more videos, like 6 things we do wrong breathing, 6 things we do wrong taking a dump etc.
Thanks for this information! I struggle with water because I am like a camel in the desert and just don't get thirsty. I am doing better these days, but I just don't naturally drink enough water. And speaking of tap water, about 20 years ago, a friend got some kind of water filter, and he showed me all of the gunk in tap water, and I have not drunk tap water since.
I don't get thirsty either, and there's a reason for that. When you don't drink, you lose your thirst drive. I forced myself to drink the recommended amount for two weeks, and then I got my thirst drive back.
Thanks for making the first one too much water !!! So many people think you need a gallon a day , such dangerous information out there. Thanks for keeping it real 🙂
I drink a gallon a day and i feel amazing. But it's not for everyone for example people with heart and kidney disease. However please don't say drinking a gallon a day is dangerous educate yourself first before spreading misinformation.
My tongue doesn't tolerate tap water . When I am forced to drink it , I tend to drink less unconsciously. I hope you got time to cover cannabinoids effects on the whole body, the neurotransmitters, hormones ,and the immune system. I really appreciate this authentic work you're doing . Respects from north Morocco.
Most bottled waters have been found to have particles of plastic in suspension. You also don't know how long some waters have sat in bottles; stored for long in hot or sunny locations and you can have plastic leachate in the water. Water filters are much better. Here in the UK tap water is recognised to be excellent but varies across the country - I live in Scotland where it is considered 1st class. There is no lead piping in the UK which is still a problem in parts of the US.
Regarding #6, no water is safe. Tap water, bottled water... there's always plastic and whatnot in both. I drink tap water, but only after letting it sit for hours in a glass jar: this eliminates the "bleachy" flavor completely.
Getting water from the hot tap it doesn't have the chlorine flavor. Gets cooked off in the water heater. Just let it cool off and it tastes way better.
I’m just stunned at the amount of knowledge and clarification I hear in all your videos that I’ve watched. I am in love with every video posted and I have been following exactly everything you say and I’m feeling awesome. Thank you!! ❤️
Regarding the statement on tap water, I would like to clarify if this is related primarily to tap water in the US: ‘as Roundup’ is banned in the EU, and some of the other pollutants you mentioned are not present ubiquitously in all water sources. Do you know if there is some source that covers this question specifically for people across the nations to check ?
The first European country who had banned Glyphosate, apparently was Austria in 2019; it currently is still approved for use in the European Union, until December 15, 2022, and in Great Britian, until December, 2025. Some countries - such as Germany - had announced that they will have it phased out by 2023. Although many nations are considering to ban it, tons of Roundup was already and still are widely used all over the world; including in Australia, Canada, China (who exports 80% of its produced Glyphosate), India, South Africa, South America, etc. etc. The problem is that it is a water soluble antibiotic which had already poisoned the worlds water supply and food chain. It is now for example also found even in breast milk and rain water.

Thanks Dr Berg. I thought I was doing good drinking reverse osmosis water..big mistake. Felt weak at times. Electrolytes are critical. I now take 10 drops Liquid minerals from ketochow each day (Dr Berry recommended) The beard is a good look!
Water specialist here. Nothing wrong with drinking Reverse Osmosis water. Its great for hydration and very safe. That eloctrolyte story is just a marketing gimmick for most part. Just have some nice food with your water.
@@jrm8206 Thank you JR M So hard to know. I pray and trust I make good choices. I was ONLY drinking RO water. Now I switch it up.. and I do eat nice (clean) food with my water. =) All I know is I do not feel weak any longer..
Tap water in the Netherlands, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and Scandinavia is not only safe to drink, it’s also of a quality to rival or even exceed quite a lot of bottled water.
Very interesting videos. What are your thoughts about regular salt consumption? I recently read a doctor warning about the decrease of regular salt consumption because many people is switching to himalayan salt, but this salt does not have iodine added. He said that iodine is required by our body and I think it's also necessary for a good thyroid function.
I use Himalayan salt instead of table salt and get my iodine from sources of meat and seafood. Thank you Dr Berg you have every video informing and to the point. I appreciate all the information I get from your spot on knowledge that has improved my health 100%. God bless you
