Using Ham Radio Deluxe Satellite Tracking and Rotor Control to have fun with the International Space Station (ISS) @YaesuUSAOfficial @HamRadioDeluxe @HamRadioOutlet @HamRadioCrashCourse
Nice video but audio became quite distorted after you increased the receiver AF gain. But your voice was clear. Maybe a little squelch would be nice. 73
I am a big fan of this software and have been using it for a few years. I would not conceive of using my TRX without it. Furthermore, I do have one question though, what kind of antenna do you have behind your chair? 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for all, long life to HRD
OMG, is that the same ISS that I work?!? You actually had a full two-way QSO??? Does no one down under work the ISS? In North America you can barely get your call in without being stepped on by twenty other stations. Are you sure you weren't just working a guy down the street? 😆 (Just kidding!) Great video. HRD is my primary software suite. Love it.
Hr Dr Carper, can we have an update on when we may expect an update or the new HRD. I am sure I am not the only person I who would like an update. Since September 2022 when I payed for another years support there as be only 2 minor updates. It would be nice to have an update.
Oddly, I have the urge to get another one and place it directly above the existing one. Previously, I had two 24" screens. Now there's this one 49" screen. The one thing I wanted was a smoother way to drag things across. It's nice... but 2 regular screens are nearly as good.
I'm confused. YOu just said you only had the 2m (downink) connected. Yet you're uplinkinking. What is governing your dopper? What is the ST2? Why didn't you use your grid square? (I undertand tfc is light and nobody else is calling?
Good question. The antennas I'm using are both VHF/UHF antennas, but one of them has a SO-239 (for VHF) and the other has an N-connector (UHF, but not connected). But because the antennas are both dual-band antennas, and because the FT-991A uses the same antenna port for VHF and UHF... you basically just use it all the same way you'd use it for a local FM repeater. In other words, I wouldn't need the other Elk antenna mounted or connected at all for this scenario. Ham Radio Deluxe Satellite Tracking app handles the Doppler and the AZ/EL adjustments. The FoxDelta ST2 is the rotor controller interface. Google for it... it's inexpensive and far better than the expensive ones. Finally... as for the grid square... you don't hear operators in the South Pacific giving their gridsquares like you do in the US. I'm not sure why. It's a rather small group and they all know each other. Maybe that's it. I gave my gridsquare when I first started operating down here and no one else did... so I left it. (But if you're in the USA, please do follow that format.)
The Elk antenna is a log periodic. It does both 2 mtrs and 70 cm. I know in Asia they didn't use grid squares either, only city and country. And the ST2 is good (I have one), but I think the CSN S.A.T. controller is far superior, with both rig and rotator control. Ever since I got the S.A.T. I haven't touched my ST2.
Loyal HRD annual subscriber here. Would love to QRV from Japan via SATS to you someday but few if any have a good footprint between us (JA - AU). Mike, is it possible to have two callsigns tied to my HRD license? Like you; I have my USA call and local call here in Japan. With Remote hams, I sometimes QRV with my home call and would like to have the ability to log those in HRD if possible. More importantly, I would love to be able to do the following in the HRD logbook. I want to be able to change the default QSL sent & received to Bureau rather then direct. I exchange about 2,000 cards a year through the Bureau and this means I have to click the sent & received boxes about 4,000 times each year and scroll to manually change it on both sides. It is possible to have this default to Bureau or allow me to change it to do so? You will save me A LOT OF TIME :) I saw you making notes on feature updates during your recent live youtube session with Josh so thought I would ask. Thanks much Mike.
Yes, absolutely you can have multiple callsigns. Just contact support and they will need to verify that you're the owner of the additional callsign(s) and they can add it for you in your existing key. I'll check into the ability to change the default to Bureau. FWIW - we don't sell subscriptions and (therefore) we don't have "subscribers." But we do appreciate your support. Contact me direct if you see a satellite that we can both hit. I'd love to hear you on!
Ham radio deluxe I bought the software a couple of days ago I've messaged a few times on Facebook on Twitter asking for a bit of help as I struggle with learning difficulties and dyslexic but nobody ever seems to answer my message very disappointed 😪
