This video will provide a quick overview of Ham Radio Deluxe. If you're looking to become involved in Digital Communications, this software has you covered. I've learned over time there is so much that one can do with Ham Radio Deluxe. One item I do suggest for ease of use perusing this software is to have at least 2 monitors. Why? If you watch the video, you will see. Also, you'll need patience and time to learn the many functions of what this software has to offer.
I'm sharing this video for the purpose of what I use as an Amateur Radio Operator for Digital Communication. Yes, there are many other types of software and I will cover them over time per this RU-vid Channel.
Also note, I will create a more in-depth review perusing this software over time. My objective is to share my experience of using this software and how you can also get on the air with using various digital modes such as:
PSK31
RTTY (Radio Teletype)
MFSK
THROB
OLIVIA.
... just to name a few
If you're new Amateur Radio and this is truly above your level of learning, no worries! Over time you'll have a craving for becoming involved and most likely you'll become part of the Digital World.

For those who don't have more than one monitor use ALT+TAB on a windows machine to quickly switch between applications.

Thanks for sharing this video and your insights. I have used HRD for a couple of years. I imagine it now has many additional features & benefits. Indeed I’ll have to learn how configure multiple monitors. This week I have ordered a Xiegu G90 & in the near future the digital interface DE-19 73 Steve AA4SH

I did not see anything for this. I would assume a virtual box on MAC or running windows side by side would be another option. Either may not be the fav option. Sorry, could not help. You may need to reach out to the creators of the sofware.

Really enjoyed your video. Could you help with CW SPLIT operations. I know you just use the spotting network and click on what you see, but I only see the waterfall showing the frequency the person is on and not showing my radio actually sending up even though the rig is properly in split. For instance they are calling on 21.024 saying up, I put the rig in split frequency TX 21.029 but the calling frequency is where the TX is going, they keep saying UP, UP and the rig is in split, so what's going on? Same with RTTY, and ALL digital for Ham Radio Deluxe. I can operate without the software, but with the software there is a major issue. I have the latest and greatest version. Why can't I simply push SPLIT on the rig and everything work as usual?

Thank you. I had a brain storm thinking of using the Sweeper on one screen and the DM-780 on another screen to make a contact on CW or other digital split. Send my call out on a listening frequency for the caller to hear me and watch the sweeper to see if and when there is a reply to me. I did add a STRAIGHT KEY to my station and learning CW (slowly).

I got HRD to work great with my Kenwood TS-45S. However, when I click on a frequency or change the frequency with the mouse, it feeds back a beep to my radio. it does this for every incremental click and is annoying. Any way to stop the beep signal from going to the radio and the speaker?

Can you make contacts to your Ham operators by clicking the TX button and have QSO's on 'Ham Radio Deluxe ? and do you need Skype for your audio for the use of a microphone ? 7- 1-2020 2:16 am ...

Great question -- the mapping would need to be done if not available already. That is something that is more advanced and needs to be looked at closely before committing it.

what is the difference in this and FT8 i think thats what its called im just starting to look at this digital stuff been a ham for 10 years or so but been out of it for a couple years and back then i just did phone . but got me a brand new Ft 450 D and looking at all this digital stuff any input you have is appreciated .

does this HRD program only control the radio or will it allow you to push memory channels into the radio so that when you install the radio back into you vehicle all the memories are programmed? thank you for a great video otherwise.

Long delay and new videos to load. I've tested here and I can pretty much do all that I can do on the radio Physically as I can in the software.

Do you need a Radio for this to work?

You can use the software to decode signals over the air or recorded MP3 files. You can choose the Dem-o-Matic mode from the New> "company" pull down. You don't need a radio to explore the software.. but of course it's a not a receiver, so you would need some sort of signal to decode using this software. Make sense?

You can do this 100%. You just need to feed audio into your computer, typical some people just use a mic to avoid overloading the audio card or if you know how to connect audio out to the audio in of your pc/ laptop (user discretion.. you need to be careful with the audio input, suggest a mic and you will be fine.) -- I use a mixing board to control the audio. The other option is to record the digital transmission and you would be able to decode the mp3 file.

You can set-up alerts per a mode, yes - works for me.

I see you're using version 5.24.038. I'm still using the free version 5.24.036. How much will I gain by paying for the updated version?

I have all the FREE versions and found the last version to be more stable.. again I was using XP at the time. I switch per the OS for testing. I found no difference between items available, just being more stable. Again that was my experience.

Thanks for that, I've had no problems with my version which been using for quite a few years now. Ever since I've used the version I've got I always get this error box come up when the program starts. It doesn't seem to cause any problems and once it's disappeared you can just get on with using the program. Mind you, I've not come into the digital side of the program, I just use the basic logbook and HRD rotator which is the best program for rotators I've come across so far

The rig you have is truly nice. Not sure of what you're attempting to use in the program. There are some pro's and con's to this HRD, I agree. PLUS depends on objective and usage.

I call it "bloating" - there are some parts to this program that would be nice to clean up, but for some of the usage around the digital work, it's fine. BUT in a smaller monitor type environment, no so happy. I have other software reviews to load for 2019 that I have played with. Thank you for watching 100%.
