Wonderful scene❤

This is one of my favorite ever Star Trek scenes -- especially regarding Spock's character development. He finally "gets it" here. This is such a pivotal turning point for Spock regarding his endless struggle to maintain logic without succumbing to emotion. He begins the movie having (nearly) purged all emotion. He finally realized, after mind melding with V'ger, that with NO emotion there is emptiness. That he would not experience the true feeling of friendship he has with Kirk and Bones. After this scene and in the continuing movies and even in his bits in TNG, you see a changed Spock. A Spock who is finally at peace with himself and has finally found that balance between logic and emotion. Human and Vulcan. Finally at peace with himself.

3:18 That nurse's impression of the Enterprise computer in Next Generation is spot on! How'd she do that?!
@IndomitableT

Hal Wakka. Actually, her character is Dr. Chapel and the actress is the wonderful Majel Barrett. She was married to Gene Roddenberry and was the computer’s voice until she died, right up to J.J. Abrams’ ST! Therefore: no impression needed, it is her normal voice.🤔👌🏽 Her voice is so good, she is also the voice of railroad radio channels throughout the USA, e.g. Union Pacific. Cool, right? 🤩 As you may know, she was also Lwaxana Troi, Deanna’s mother later in ST TNG.👩‍👧😉

They set out to destroy the peace-loving Autobots, and a war between the forces of good and evil raged across Cybertron. Devastating all in it's path, draining the planet's once rich sources of energy. The Autobots on the verge of extinction, battled valiantly to survive...

People who claim that The Motion Picture is too much about visual effects at the expense of the characters have missed what the film is all about. Kirk, Spock, and McCoy all have great character moments and great character development throughout the film. Especially Spock. Everything that happens in this film is why he is the content, fulfilled person we see in Wrath of Khan. His encounter with V'Ger finally allows him to resolve his human/Vulcan conflict and accept who he is.

V'ger would probably have spared Data's existence because he is a brother machine, though it would have learned from him the relationships he has with his Human/Klingon/Vulcan/Bajoran, etc crewmates and learned to see the Carbon Units as true life forms. Data would have likely become the go between or locutionist for V'ger and V'ger would likely have wanted to "join with the creator" just the same because understanding emotion is not the same as experiencing it. Just my two cents, but that would have made a great episode!
