Children are eating as their parents or worse - it is not genetic but result of eating processed food which include mostly sugar and processed "vegetable = seeds" oils. Watch other video about real reason of macula illness. It is not an aging illness; In the regions where people don't have access to such oils they live longer and having much less macula problems.

Thank you for this wonderful explanation of age related macular degeneration. I have never really understood what happens. I do not eat fish, so I will try to do so. I was shocked to find out I have AMD because I eat large quantities of green, leafy vegetables and consume lots of eggs, which are a rich source of lutein. I also stopped eating vegetable oils years ago and went back to butter. I will now eat spinach more often to see if that helps. I don't eat a cup a day of spinach. I am sure future studies will confirm that sugar plays a role. I ate too much sugar most of my life and have blood sugar problems. (I have stopped my high sugar consumption.) I suspect that is what is playing a major role in me developing AMD. I also did not protect my eyes from sunlight as well as I should have. I don't think I owned a pair of sunglasses as a child. I think my family likely looked at them as an unnecessary luxury for a child. I only bought them in my teens and less for protection and more as a fashion statement.

Not so sure about sugar. Chris Nobbe uses a culture with high sugar low oils as an example to show its the oils. One thing is we see how what animals eat affects their fats too, so I’m not so sure we can say eggs or dairy for instance and be talking the same things. Even so called free range or organic is no guarantee.

Would have liked to hear about eye floaters.
@Jan96106
@Jan96106 6 лет назад
What do you want to know about them? The fluid in your vitreous clumps together as you get older. Those kind of floaters look like spider webs or amoeba. The only way you can get rid of most of them is by a vitrectomy (where they take out the fluid in your eye and replace it) , which I'd never have for such a trivial reason as it comes with risks. Another kind of floater one can have is due to leaky blood vessels or after eye surgery; those are black specs and they disappear as they are broken down and flushed out through the fluid circulating in the eye. I know because I've had both. I'm just a patient not a doctor. Hope this info helps.

When I went keto they cleared mostly. 5 years later I can only see them when I look straight into the sky or at a white surface. What seems to help is anything that improves your blood circulation such as onion, garlic and many other foods.

@veejayroth
@veejayroth 6 лет назад
The omega-3 fatty acids (i mean the actually effective two - DHA and EPA) can be obtained from rather expensive vegan algae-based DHA supplements. The rest of the healthy stuff that is in fish? Not likely.
@Nmethyltransferase
@Nmethyltransferase 6 лет назад
It also helps to improve your ALnA:LA ratio. Basically, get rid of all extracted oils. Either use none at all, or stick to olive, high-oleic sunflower, H.O. safflower, coconut, palm, or macadamia oils. Nuts and seeds (and their butters) are fine, but 30 grams a day is plenty. It's good to rotate them, too. Whole food fermented soy is fine too, but one or two servings is plenty for the health benefits. No need to go _nuts_ over it! Just simple, basic, commonsense rules-of-thumb.
@Nmethyltransferase
@Nmethyltransferase 6 лет назад
Wait, wait... there's more! Sea{flesh}food also comes pre-packaged with certain minerals: zinc, selenium, and iodine. In combination with EPA/DHA, they're basically rocket fuel for the brain! Just take a zinc supplement, eat two Brazil nuts a day, and have a serving of seaweed daily. Or... look into "bivalveanism." 100-gram servings of oysters, mussels, and clams, three times a week--and most likely, you'll have no need for _any_ supplements!

I am skeptical of studies claiming absolutes, many studies have been wrong or inaccurate. For every pro study, you will find a negative study. Questions need to be asked of studies and claims such as, who did the study and when. Who were the people studied and what were their health and age, and for how long was the study, Were there any conflicts of interest? I don't believe anyone should be wearing glasses of any kind, especially sunglasses. The eye is a muscle, that needs exercise and light on it. The optic nerve connects the eye to the pineal gland and the brain carrying vitamin D from the sunlight. Many people suffering from depression are deficient in vitamin D. All glass lenses have a film on them that blocks out the good rays of the sun UVB as does car windows. I do not trust or believe that carrots are not beneficial for protecting and improving eyesight. Because many other studies show that vitamin A is known to benefit your eye health by: Protecting your corneas Decreasing the risk of cataracts and age-related macular degeneration Delaying peripheral vision loss Creating a protective layer against bacteria and viruses Alleviating the symptoms of dry eye syndrome Slowing vision loss in people with retinitis pigmentosa Impeding the progression of Stargardt’s disease On the other hand, vitamin A deficiency can lead to: Dry eyes Night blindness Vision loss Interestingly a celery stick is shaped like a bone and snaps like a bone, and is full of sodium and good for the bones. A walnut is shaped like a brain and contains essential oils to protect the brain. A tomato is blood red and had four chambers, full of vitamin C and potassium protecting from high blood pressure and heart disease. Carrots have vitamins A and C good for the eyes, cut the carrot in half and what do you see? The shape of an eye. At the age of 40, I went for my first ever eye test and was told that I was one step away from needing glasses to drive, then I was immediately asked if I would like to view some frames? I thought to myself why does a business based on profit test my eyesight? Should it not be an independent body? How can I believe that the business is an honest one and that the test is accurate? I decided to research and experiment from then on, discovering that there are simple exercises to improve one's eyesight, there is a science behind it, and many books written about it by scientists and doctors. I did those and addressed my diet as well, I have never smoked. 25 years later (two months ago) I went for my second eye test and was told that I am nowhere near needing glasses, I have very strong eyesight for my age the optician told me, and at your age, we usually recommended getting tested yearly but you wouldn't have to come back for another two years. I still don't need glasses, I never wear sunglasses ever and expose my eyes to the sun a lot. I exercise my eyes daily (hardly any effort at all and it's interesting). We have been told many lies, one of the biggest is to hide from the sun and lower cholesterol. Cholesterol-causing heart disease is a myth and a sinister ploy to cause illness and make pharmaceutical companies more profitable. Our eyes and our bodies need the sun to manufacture vitamin D3 which is vital for every cell in the body including the eyes. One of the main functions of cholesterol is to manufacture vitamin D from the sun through the skin. It doesn't matter how much you sunbathe, for as long as you have low cholesterol your body will not manufacture enough vitamin D3 through your skin. 40% of the world's population is vitamin D deficient. Wearing sun cream with its toxins and petroleum penetrating into the bloodstream causes cancer while blocking out the good rays of the sun. The sun does not cause cancer if you do not burn and be silly about it, it's the lack of sun, processed foods, and vegetable oils along with the carcinogen chemicals you put on your skin that causes cancer. The sun is your greatest friend, it makes the grass and the flowers grow and it keeps our immune systems strong as vitamin D3 is a hormone. We are told to hide from the midday sun and put a hat and sun cream on! Where did that advice originate from? Sunscreen manufactures by any chance? Where is the science behind it? Stay out of the midday sun? We can only manufacture vitamin D3 between the hours of 10am and 3pm when the sun is the strongest and highest in the sky, we do not get any vitamin D from the sun in the winter if living in the northern hemisphere. It is no coincidence that people get ill in the winter with a lack of sufficient sun. They are telling you to hide from the sun during the only period your body can manufacture vitamin D 3!!!! They don't want you well, your illness, their profit. We have been lied to about high cholesterol because low cholesterol is a fallacy and leaves you open to illness and disease. One doctor called low-fat foods genocide! As they remove the good fats and replace them with vegetable oils, sugar, salt, preservatives, pesticides, MSG, and foot colorings, and they call that health foods??? Sugar is the real enemy and cause of heart disease, not fat. There is no science proving that cholesterol leads to heart disease, on the contrary, it is vital for protecting our cell membranes. If our cholesterol levels are low we leave our hearts and brains exposed to damage like dementia, Parkinson, MS, and heart disease including macular degeneration. Every cell in the human body consists of a third cholesterol, the brain contains 30% cholesterol, and the liver produces 75% of our cholesterol, it's that bad for us!!! And the rest comes from our food.

He said that a number of studies show that there is a high correlation between eating a lot of high glycemic foods (foods that quickly raise blood sugar) and an increased risk of AMD. However, he undercut or called those studies into question by suggesting that the results were tainted because low glycemic index foods are big money for the food industry. I think he is wrong to question the results of these studies. My own anecdotal evidence leads me to believe that in a few more years studies will confirm that sugar/carbs play a major role in causing AMD. (Read my other comment under this video to see why I believe this.) It is only a matter of time before the medical community catches up and acknowledges this.
