That sounds farken great I've been listening to a couple of others just now this is so far the best sounding boom tube by far

Possibly he has it done the correct way. NASCAR runs oval pipes off the header collector directly into a X-pipe and you know the rest lol. I'm certain his cam had a lot to do with the sound, cos once it was in full idle mode it sounded a lot better than most RU-vid videos where they put race mufflers on stock engines 🤦🏼‍♂️😂😆 I myself plan to do it the true NASCAR way. Should sound great with my 550hp sbc 385 stroker

If your trying to get a real nascar sound the sound doesn’t come from the boom tubes it comes from the x pipe which has to be at an extremely tight radius that’s what gives nascar the high pitch sound which sounds like they rev to 12k rpm when they’re only at like 7500
@mattclarkrealtorhoustongal2733
You’re right, what you were hearing on this car is a combination of his whole system.. it has the X pipe as well (also designed patented and built by Boyd Butler Dr Gas.. when I’m telling you is I called him I talked to him he built it specifically for this car out of NASCAR parts that he had in his shop .. he shipped them to me give me step-by-step instructions on how to weld it all together..they are not knock offs this was after he retired from his career in NASCAR in 2014)
@-thebatman-
@-thebatman- Год назад
@@mattclarkrealtorhoustongal2733 not saying they’re knock offs or anything just saying if you want that high pitch sound you’d have to use the x pipe they used for the iroc series nascar still uses x pipes but not as aggressive of a bend and don’t sound like they use to they have more of a traditional v8 sound rather than a v8 revving to 12k
@mattclarkrealtorhoustongal2733
@@-thebatman- the parts he made my system with was the IROC series parts (he had to dig through his stock pile to find me a full system as he was no longer making them) he and I had some fascinating conversations about his whole career and the way it all came about)

the NASCAR boom tubes on the race cars don't have the circular baffles..the boom tubes you bought have them which is not ideal as those baffles impede flow.

@mattclarkrealtorhoustongal2733 2 года назад
Just curious, how is that you know this? What is your basis of knowledge for this? Boyd showed me the patent he had for these. I am pretty sure I saw some EXACTLY like these on the 24 Jeff Gordon Car and the Jimmy Johnson car at the Talledega Museum. But I am always interested to know more if have direct knowledge and expertise

@@mattclarkrealtorhoustongal2733 I might be wrong but all of the nascar boom tubes I have ever seen do not have those circular baffles cutting across the flow path. the baffles are usually straight and flow along the flow path. check this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q6wXpOQVdN0.html

I did watch that interest in video. What you might find really fascinating is that again well that guy does a great job explaining what he knows or what he’s heard the actual patentholder or butler had a degree in thermodynamics and worked in the aero space Industry and ended up designing a new system for Sterling Marlins Kodak car which won the Daytona 500 during its debut.. he was actually getting more power without that set up then they were with straight pipes.. this was during the early 90s and that is the design he used for my car’s system.. The systems in that video were later at uptations and innovations that went beyond this early design I will not call them knock offs cause I know that in that sport innovation and improvement is everything! You might enjoy reading this article where he explains everything and how the boom tubes were developed www.insideracingtechnology.com/drgas.html article.. thank you for your comments and I can tell like me you are a big car enthusiast and that is the most important thing!

@@mattclarkrealtorhoustongal2733 I am aware of the history of the boom tubes and the kodak car that changed the sound of nascar.. Im also not disputing that Boyd Butler knows his stuff. The only thing im disputing is the use of the circular baffle in old and modern cup car boom tubes. Even looking at the pictures in the article you sent me you can tell the baffles are straight. The cup cars never used that circular baffle because it hurts flow.. the aftermarket (non nascar) boom tube use them because it helps reduce loudness at the cost of some flow. If you can't understand what circular baffle im referring to, look at the last photo in the article you sent me and look inside your boom tube.. then look at real nascar boom tubes you will see straight baffles in the real cup car stuff even the old Kodak car had straight baffles.

@@davidgalea6113 it was moreso the X pipe that changed the sound and added about 4hp to the Kodak car that changed racing... Stapleton42 covers it in depth.

Boom tubes are basically long, flat resonators with usually 5 baffles in them. To get a sound like that its straight from headers to the boom tube.
