So this isn't a normal video for me, it's more like a trauma dump. I have a fairly rare skin condition, and I have a very expensive skin care routine. Without giving too much away, I have eczema, but not like you have it. This is dry skin with ballistic missiles!

Wow, thanks for being so open. I'd like to offer 3 comments. 1. Skin conditions are as complicated as the people who have them, I'm not surprised you've had trouble finding the right advice and treatments that work for you. I'm no expert, but i wish you the best of luck finding what might work. 2. Chemo sucks. I'm a cancer survivor and I know how bad that can knock you around. It's crazy that your doctors didn't warn you what you might be in for. I once spent 15 minutes in the foetal position in a supermarket because I couldn't remember what I needed and couldn't process reality for a while. 3. That gravy looks tasty as hell. What's in it. Im used to gravy being dark brown meat dripping thickened with flour. I've observed that US gravy (maybe Canadian too?) is a bit different. I'd love to know what's in it.

I'm sorry you had to go through that, having experienced that without the fear of death added in, I can only imagine how hard that would be. As for the gravey, it's going to sound super gross, but it's really amazing! I was inspired by the KFC method of making gravey, which is an espanole, with a chicken batter roux. Mine is closer to a bechemel with a onion fritter roux. I was making Indian onion fritters in my fryer, it causes alot of debris in the fryer, so I filtered it out. The spices and onion bits on the bottom smelled so good, so I decided to try it out. I put the debris in a miniblender with some milk, blended until smooth. I put it in a pan on medium and started heating and adding in milk until it loosened up. Then I added in some sour cream, it's so good!

@TalentlessCooking that sounds amazing. Great way to not waste the tasty fryer scraps, too.

Thank you for this. Thank you for addressing the mental health side of skin conditions. Thank you for adressing all of the extras that folk with skin conditions can get. Thank you for telling those advice givers where to shove it. I cant use deoderant either and people ALWAYS have comments about that. Just Thank you. From a eczema bound human who got to the point my neck looked like it had been cut from ear to ear. (The asthma side effects are a bonus side effect.) I ended up on a lot of chemo and immune bashing drugs for my eczema. Between steroids (cortico, not anabolic) Methotrexate and now Dupixent it has been a wild and bumpy ride. From red, cracked and oozing much like your hot sauce to almost "normal" skin now. Great that you're sharing this and a great deal to have been through. Also I know it can scare folk but for the doctor not to tell you is bad enough but the fact they then haven't warned you (allegedly 😉) that your immune system is severely compromised because if these drugs is really bad. Eczema is NOT just a dry itchy skin folks. It can get a whole lot worse. 🦞

I'm glad you can appreciate my struggle, I know it feels like screaming into a vacuum sometimes. I'm not sure if I mentioned it in the video, but I use Shea butter as deodorant. I get it on Amazon, and the quality is pretty good, sometimes you can get stuff that smells weird or has some fibers that makes me itchy. So far the Amazon Shea butter has been good for me.

Something in the UK called Dermol that works for me. It's like a lotion but antibacterial too. It is so hard finding stuff that doesn't irritate. Sunscreen is one I've never found so long sleeves and hoods and shade for me.

@gabrielstone8548 sunscreen is hard to solve for, outside of covering up. I found one but it's really expensive, I prefer to cover up.

@TalentlessCooking same here. People think I'm crazy in long sleeves in the summer but it is the best of 2 evils.
