house is like sherlock holmes, he sees all and knows all which I'm guessing why he said run some test because he knew the guy had gonorrhea..which is why he told the guy go get tested for it and these papers are mine😂
Pulled that trick when I invited a Superior Court judge to litigate an illegal order in the appellate courts. The order changed to a request REAL fast.
Human condition brother, I've seen people harrass pitbull cuase they "know it will attack sooner or later" ..... meditate on this paradox. I still haven't solved it.
Doesn't change the fact that he's going to sue anyway. Answered the "lawyer" question with "why would I sue you?" instead of "why my lawyer?". Most legal departments will settle because any trial would become a circus and often cost more than the settlement.
@@mr.switchblade604 Sure but only pitbulls throw themselves through windows to maul innocent children doing nothing to them. Not exactly the same thing as any other reactive dog.

House literally told the dude what he was tryna accomplish here and he STILL went ahead and did it anyway. Calling him stupid is a disrespect to stupid people at this point 🤣🤣
Patient: "You have caused me significant mental distress." House: "Yes, causing patients distress is the only fun I get to have during mandatory clinic hours."
if i went to a doctor with suing him in mind and he put together in a few minutes that i was trying to do that i’d leave and probably give up on that idea lol
To be fair, he did try to leave. House said he was still willing to treat him. Though...yeah, the fact that he followed up with a lawsuit is pretty funny shortly afterwards.
@@ZT1ST 🤔 Since the only reason he was injured in the first place was to sue yet another doctor, he might as well follow through. He probably went straight home and injured himself again, but why waste a perfectly unpleasant hospital visit by not filing another lawsuit?
House absolutely HATED working clinic hours on this show. This is actually common, I’ve had doctors who have to work ER shifts to maintain their certifications to work in hospitals. So, part of his job is to do clinic rotations, and he did legit everything he could to get out of it. Being sued means he cannot take patients in the clinic until it’s cleared. He was loving every moment of this and knew from the start being sued meant no clinic hours and he also just enjoyed screwing with people. But yeah this was to escape clinic rotations for a bit lol.
@@epgamer1145 He’s the world’s leading diagnostician in the show, he only gets patients that other doctors fail to diagnose and so they can’t treat them, he has (over the life of the show) 3-6 of the best and brightest graduates from medical school and it’s like THE residency that everyone wants because he’s so brilliant. But he’s also incredibly miserable and he’s very very hooked on pain pills because his leg needed to be amputated at one point and he refused so now he’s just trapped in unending agony and can’t really walk. He requires a cane. No matter what he does, he never gets reprimanded very harshly, because the hospital admin doesn’t want to lose the prestige he brings to the hospital. They’re world renowned because of House. He’s crazy and rude and superhumanly brilliant. It makes the show fun to watch. It isn’t realistic. You can’t have a doctor practicing medicine while actively in the throes of a very bad pill add1ction. He even makes his residents break into patient’s homes to do recon because he thinks everyone is a liar. It’s just entertainment.
@@dantekyle1775 He did the most batsh1t crazy stuff on that show to get out of clinic rotations lol… He would page Cuddy for consults on things like common cold and rashes hoping she’d get so annoyed she’d stop making him do them… In one episode he started calling people by their medical concerns to prove he had no more patients so he could leave but really they were all there and just didn’t want to be like, “Weird Discharge? Yeah that’s me!” Lmao.., Ridiculous but entertaining fr…..
@@annab5369 House realised that if he gets sued while doing clinic.. The judge can actually ban him from clinic duties to protect others from his abusive attitude... Since he has been sued for it. So House wants the lawsuit. To get out of clinic.
@@alanlvr36 judges absolutely do do this lol. Frivolous lawsuits happen a lot, and this guy doing these by himself opens it up for return processes and litigation to happen. Also, not sure where you got your law degree from, but judges *ABSOLUTELY* take previous judgements and cases into consideration. Are you crazy? Its called "precedence". Every case is weighed in merit to everything else lol. Please stop giving "Advice"; no offense but you definitely have no idea what youre talking about.
@@PichuStardust it can get to the point of an investigation more or less, but it going into the criminal realm would be unfair to even call it rare. It’s essentially nonexistent. If they can say it’s intentional done to harass or the like, then it could include sanctions though…who-hoo rofl It can paint the plaintiff in a bad light though to the judges&any potential jurors. High Frequency Litigants is the legalese for it, or commonly known as serial litigants. Vexatious Litigant is one who uses to harass. To avoid getting those labels to reduce the negative impact, one could space them out, make sure they have substance to the claims, &obviously not go with the same claims all the time. Some HFLs are legitimate though&have just been unlucky, the ADA results in some people becoming HFLs because of the Disabilities Act, but of course many of those are also frivolous&seen as a way for financial gain.
@@alanlvr36 They can actually do this. The courts can issue a Vexatious Litigant Orders, which requires the courts to approve any law suits before they can be filled. It's only issued in extreme cases, after warnings and other sanctions have been issued.
@@matana4567 basically he told him he has a illness which can cause a lot of stress and mental distress in patient because of the pains. So if he sued him, he can give him lab results, ultimately making the court case unwinnable for the jerk. If he ran second test, it would show he has no illness, so the stress would be from house, making him win the case.
Not only that but they were in litigation as soon as he handed him that lawsuit. Really shouldn't be treating someone who is suing you or in the process of doing so. Conflict of interest. @@janschropfer439
Fun fact: the author of Sherlock Holmes was a medical student who was taught to observe the patient carefully to give medical diagnosis much like House, this is what inspired Sherlock Holmes
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was also a general practitioner for 10 years before becoming an ophthalmologist (which he viewed as a failed pursuit). He only ever stopped medicine and became a full time author after nearly dying of influenza.
He was inspired by his colleague Dr. Joseph Bell and the character of Holmes is based on him. In the show, Wilson gifts House a book written by Dr.Joseph Bell, a nice little reference to this detail.
@@ExhaustedScarfwhat surpised me is that comment leaver either forgot to mention it or hasn't seen the fact that house is based on holmes which seems unlikely.
@@FenrirEX He instead took the "Hypocritic" Oath in this case. He repeatedly harmed people when experimenting on them, even though it's to find a cure/treatment.
Fun fact; people with entitlement behaviour will do things like this often, that’s why all hospital workers document everything. And when I mean everything I mean THE DOCUMENT EVERHTING
As a hospital worker...we document EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING. If the big shots in suits started telling us we needed to document when the patient sneezes or coughs, you can bet we're documenting every single sniffle and cleared throat!
John Funsten came to the clinic with an abcess on his knee. House worked out that he had originally had a small pus filled sac, but had decided to try to relieve the pressure with something like a nail file, which only made it worse. Funsten tried to deny it at first, then admitted it. House offered Funsten a Vicodin for the pain which Funsten happily accepted. House then looked at the patient file and realized that Funsten lived 70 miles away from Princeton. When Funsten didn't have a reason for being in Princeton, House surmised, correctly, that he wasn't allowed to go to any closer hospital, probably because he was in litigation with them. Funsten denied it, or that he wanted to sue House, but House started asking him inappropriate questions because that would help a malpractice case. Thinking House will also refuse to treat him, House tells him to stay put and that he will drain the pus and run lab tests to make sure it isn't anything serious. House is dead on - Funsten returns almost immediately to serve a malpractice suit and House isn't surprised. He's also ready for him. He tells Funsten that he has gonorrhea and that House is duty bound to tell the state's medical officer of health. They will tell his wife so she can get tested. House says he would run another test, but he's not going to. He tells Funsten that since they're in litigation, he can't give him the test results, but it should be easy to prove he's clean - he just has to find another doctor to run another test.
@@jasonmurdoc9533 they leave it open ended with this little “check mate” moment but I could speculate if it helps you close the chapter in your head: he doesn’t have gonorrhea but since John is an asshole, house wants to humiliate him so says since they’re in litigation he will report that John has it to the state and they’ll call his wife to let her know she’s been exposed. Whether he could have it or not, his wife would theoretically not believe him saying it’s a false positive if she’s told by the state and his chances of getting another doctor SOMEWHERE to retest and confirm he doesn’t have it are slim bc he’s sued so many that no one will treat him. So he would have to consider dropping the litigation or call Houses bluff on the test results and hope he can find someone else to retest him so he can get the quick money he wants at the potential cost of his marriage
@@jasonmurdoc9533 Gonorrhea is an STD. I would assume that it's true that he does have it (you don't need a second test for that.) His wife is not necessarily complicit in his scams, but probably is. The point is, the woman from whom he contracted gonorrhea is most likely NOT his wife.
Surprisingly enough, one of the schools in our Conference would yell out things like that as we were serving (collegiate volleyball 30 short years ago) to try and mess with us. The worst it did was make us laugh. Good times.
As someone who has no idea how it works in America…what are those papers? I keep seeing people being handed “papers” in movies and it’s handed to that specific person, why? Why not a phone call? An email? Why can’t he give him his own papers?
@@heisafraidbecause (as far as I’ve heard) when the person is handed the papers in person, they can’t turn around and say they didn’t receive them. If it was any other way, the person could also say “I wasn’t informed”.
@@heisafraid legal notice of a lawsuit. You can't serve papers in your own case because you the plaintiff have a vested interest in the service being done incorrectly - if you throw the papers on someone's trash can and say "I served the papers by hand delivery to their address", you can get the court to issue a default judgement without the defendant actually being notified of the lawsuit, which would violate the defendant's due process rights. The court may allow methods other than delivery of papers depending on local laws, but the point is that it has to be done fairly to ensure that the defendant is fully aware that they're being sued and has the chance to respond.
One of the things I love about House is that it taught me to think outsidethe box. I'm a nurse and suggested to a a Dr. to run a PSA on a pt.....she said "But he's only 15". My reply, exactly, why does he have urinary inconsititancy at 15? Saved his life.
Also technically even though it's a show, The guy is not legally allowed to serve the papers for court himself he has to have someone else do it it's illegal to serve your own papers.
A lot of times these type of people try to keep the smallest paper trail possible so even though they are willing to sue they first approach with an intent to sue to try and get a quick settlement out of court and without court records. Basically give me money and I will sign that I won't sue you
Depends, I've served my own papers every time I didn't send it registered mail and haven't broken any laws. In my jurisdiction only family law stuff can't be served personally, civil is free game.
I think in most states it's an optional service for a fee to have the sheriff's office serve papers otherwise you do so yourself or have a process server do it.

Dude, you made the right choice - but don't think of things as black and white. Maintain infrequent/frequent contact on your terms, but do stay in touch. Family blood can be a funny thing, and when he's gone, don't leave yourself thinking "what if?" Obviously, all relationships have transactional value, and if yours with him is never bringing something to the table, then sure, let him know why - because he might love you more than you imagine, but may not be able to express that to you. Kinda stupid to try and sue multiple doctors for easy pay instead of for legitimate reasons; Literally setting yourself up to essentially be avoided by medical professionals when you need real help, and next to no willing to help out of fear of being taken to court.
"Lawyers gonna love it." "Why would I wanna sue you?" He just confirmed that he sued a bunch of doctors. Pretty sure normal people, would ask why they would need a lawyer in the first place.
Found a paragraph guy.... Basically since he has gonorrhea, dr will have to disclose this in a court, which will lead the court to call all his sex partners ,nd his wife would know he is cheating
I like how smart this doctor was even on the last season where he went to a recovery mental health facility and outsmarted the nurses, also very good at getting answers by digging through someone.
People who have tried this in real life eventually get caught and wind up with a massive class action lawsuit against them that will put them in traction for the rest of their life.
