The point about looking for the values behind the laws is very helpful, Dr. Sklar. Can you help explain what is meant then by Mt 5:17-20 ESV? Specifically the part about not abolishing the Law seems to imply that the Levitical laws are still in effect. Yet when you talk about Jesus establishing a new covenant, I'm inferring that the old covenant (including the Levitical laws) becomes null and void.
Certainly sir, I knew about the law of tithing, every single one of the thousands of church services I have attended, but never once was it taught to me from the stage that it was an abomination for a man to dress in womens clothes. But I knew how to divide up all my finances to not rob God. That was very important, the rest of it....no so much.
