Side-note: Does anyone else find it mildly creepy how accurate the captions are for this video so short after uploading? Google's AI is getting good, and one wonders if it will be used for "hard" censorship, beyond flagging advertiser-unfriendly content like it does now.
I took a standard English class. We were forced to analyze Marxist, Postcolonial (essentially imperialist), and feminist critiques of literature. At least on our own time. In class, instead we watched SNL skits and used parody to understand reality... In other words, we smacked conservatives every week and labeled them racists because SNL said so. I actually did learn from that class. I discovered what soft indoctrination looks like.
I wonder if Dr. Peterson noticed or appreciated the fact that the lad who introduced him stuck his fingers in his mouth to cheer for him right before shaking his hand. And I wonder how the young man feels in retrospect.
In Ontario, the education system, combined with the child welfare system has produced a particular harsh situation for most modern parents. You have Big Brother over your shoulder today! Plus a intrusive child welfare system that can use any made up issue to intervene in the family unit. This combined with single parenthood have made Ontario a SJW delight.
I remember Jordan saying he was almost off the charts in the verbal parts of IQ tests. He should keep this in mind and remember the bell curve, he's almost over my head. How many libtards will he reach here ?
Peterson's "command of the English language"? You must be joking. You are joking, right? I can give him credit for some things (like his stand on freedom of speech), but his command of the English language is definitely not one of them.
Okay. He consistently mispronounces "archetypal" as "arka-tipple." He often refers to a single fact or event as "a phenomena." Granted, he's more articulate than most of his fawning followers, but it's this fact alone that causes so many to become uncritical followers instead of sharp-minded "colleagues" in the search for truth.
Another example at 12:03 where he mispronounces "heinous" as "highness": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KPq3qDi0fJM.html&lc=z22eyl2zzxzavjjfgacdp4344mlgjl30z0ldizuvwghw03c010c.1513385514072080
You have a profound misunderstanding of what the phrase "command of the English language" means. Regional dialects are inconsequential when it comes to public speech. What matters is that you get your point across and your arguments are valid
It's not a matter of a "regional dialect." These are outright mispronunciations. I don't deny that he gets his point across and that many (but not all) of his arguments are valid. But my comment stands: He does not have a great command of the English language. What he has is a great command of his audience, most of whom don't seem to realise they need to apply critical thinking to their hero, Peterson's, claims.
