User beware : If you get a cologuard test and it comes back positive, you will need a colonoscopy. But here's the kicker: a colonoscopy alone will cost you nothing, but as in my case a colonscopy following a cologuard test will cost me $300. And I have good insurance. I recommend just getting the colonoscopy and skip the cologuard step.
Why oh why does this company have to send a box out that is stamped with this logo. Because Noone at the ups office or the pick up person won't know that you r dropping off a poop box. Why can't the ship out box be in a regular brown box with a small red + on it . Or other smaller symbal indicating medical material. Or why can't you deliver ot to your doc and THEY can ship them out in batches. I feel that individuals that r buying pork or adult toys get to have MORE privacy.
with all due respect im pretty sure they never claimed the opposite. it can however help early prevention of colon cancer for ppl who otherwise may not be screened if it wasnt for this painless method.
In the instructional video (which is on a different page), they show you how to use it using a fake turd made of either clay or chocolate with the disclaimer, "not a real stool" but I think they should've just shown a cuboid shaped piece of blue clay and on screen put the message, "this isn't a real stool or what a real stool looks like; we used a soft piece of clay because nobody wants to looks at a stool even if it's fake."
Don't take this test if you have any history of any digestive issues, or have a history of polyps. It will come back positive, just like it did for me. This will create undue stress, which will only be relieved by getting a colonoscopy. Also, you will be charged for your colonoscopy, because it's now considered a diagnostic follow up and not a preventative screening. Just get the colonoscopy directly. The prep for it is a pain in the ass, literally and figuratively, but the actual process is painless, and you will be out completely while they perform it.
Just know that your Dr. maybe giving your phone number & email address to Cologuard & they will be calling, texting, emailing you all kinds of crap (pun intended). If I knew they were getting all this info about me, I would have done the colonoscopy.
Fabulous test. Detects cancer as good as a colonoscopy without the risks or time away from other activities.. Also no risk of catching the flu or COVID-19 at the hospital.
Many obvious questions. Here is my experience. If this is better than a colonoscopy then why does this company and the organization that recommends them suggest the colonoscopy as a follow-up to a positive test? My insurance does not cover this test. My insurance does not recommend this test. Cologuard does not participate with my insurance and did not notify me of this when my doctor ordered the test. So now I am likely going to be stuck paying the $650 for the test and it looks like the insurance company is going to use the fact that I had this test to deny paying for the preventive colonoscopy. The colonoscopy now becomes a diagnostic test which I am going to be held responsible for paying. Unfortunately I did not investigate this adequately prior to my test and now my research says that you have at least a 10% chance of either a false positive or a false negative. If that's the case 90% + accuracy on detecting cancer is an impossible number to reach. And if you can have either a false positive or a false negative, where is any confidence found that this test is accurate. And if the test detects 42% of the polyps that cologuard claims, keep in mind that it has missed 58% of them. My $900 colonoscopy says that my $650 cologuard test was a false positive. Both expenses appear as if they're going to come out of my pocket.
But if it tests positive you will need a colonoscopy which will cost you a large copay (hundreds of dollars), instead of just getting the colonoscopy in the first place which would cost you nothing.
@@thewolfdoctor761 2 things- 1st is over 80% of patients will not need that colonoscopy, 2nd, that copay will no longer be after May 31st 2022 as all insurance companies will be mandated to cover fully costs for follow up colonoscopy after a positive noninvasive test. Many insurance companies are already covering this -not all but many.
“Ask your doctor today if Cologuard is right for you!”…ffff….you! Has nothing to do with whether or not it’s “right for you” and has everything to do with your ffff… insurance.
@@GoodfellasNYC my wife's doctor who is the head of a large center that does tons of colonoscopies said that the false positive rate is far higher than what they advertise. When I asked what that was based on he said that they get tons of people who had positive for cancer readings from this product who ended up having ZERO problems....my wife was one of them. He suggested that if the test was cheap and fast he wouldn't complain, but that it is far too expensive to be so unreliable. I can't recall exactly the rate he told me but I believe it was nearly 3 times the false positive rate as advertised. He said that everyone who went to them for a colonoscopy was asked why they were there and they took that number and looked at the false positives from those patients. So in my opinion, I agree with the guy. It is very costly and the results can only be verified, either positive or negative, with an actual colonoscopy.... so I recommend just getting the colonoscopy and skipping the less than great test. Just my opinion and that of our doctor. I thank God above my wife's positive result from this test was wrong.. She had nothing wrong. It was horribly stressful waiting to go get a regular colonoscopy when you had a positive result from this test. Best Regards.
@@GoodfellasNYC not with my wife... She wasn't having any issues, this was something she did because she is 54 and had never had one done. She went the easier route with the cologuard but then had to get a regular scoping when the cologuard was positive.
