@@carlostalavera1264 Why do people have to constantly argue whether this guy is better than that guy etc. It's really boring. Different players, both hugely talented in their own ways. Honestly, it isn't a competition.
@@MrFromthefuture Good luck using your tongue as a technique with circular breathing... all you can do is slur notes or use back tonguing as subtle articulation. #OneTrickPony
Wow. I don't really understand much of Jazz scales, but having listened to lots of Cory Henry clips, I have to say Dr. Lonnie has quite a different style, somehow a darker kind of energy, but not less fascinating. Probably more experimental. And of course his physical appearance adds to it. The organ guru....
Ignore the twat who replied to your comment first. He is the one who has no clue what he is talking about. You're correct about Lonnie, he had a unique style and was probably the greatest experimenter on the Hammond over the years. Some of his ideas worked better than others - always some weird and wonderful stuff coming out of that brain. He is the only man I can think of who would write a composition about killer bees attacking people in the park.
I think he was struggling to pick up the chords, he wanted to join in the first tune Lonnie played but he couldn't get it. Dr. Lonnie being the gentleman that he is, stopped and then started tune 2 after checking he'd know how to play it.
5:48 ~ 5:56 - that breakdown[?] I don't really know what it called but that is something we often hear in old school cartoon that will not be heard again in modern times.
This is the reason why more Music Arts education is needed and public schools Each One Teach One reach one ears the Grammys the American Music Awards is just catering to one group of music pop and rap like that's the only music people wants to hear America owes a debt to all musicians without musicians there be no good music🎼🎹🎺🎵🎶
Yeah man...Cory on that mouth organ (melodica?) He's a keys guy...I thought, he killed it though. Serious talent on parade, right here...all the way, around the booth.
Jazz guru ? Rabbi of Jazz , Jazz ayatollah ! Much respects to this organist .... I mean deeeeeep respects to you guys , oh no i better say abundant respects . You Jazz preachers ! ! !
levispaargaren except most players memorize heads with chords so it's possible he already memorized the changes but it seems like he was playing by ear
Heads and chords have to be memorized. If you don't memorize the chords you won't know the changes to be able to improvise. However, for the blues and rhythm changes, the chord progressions (changes) are standard.
