I started the PCSK9 inhibitor and my LDL dropped to 30. However, for the first time in my life I developed tendonitis in both shoulders to the point that I couldn’t tuck my shirt in to the back of my pants, scratch my back or reach behind my head to stretch! Your lecture completely validated my suspicion that this drug was causing inflammation in my tendons. Now am not guilty for stopping it!
Oh my gosh, that may be the reason i can't lift my left arm ,same as you describe. I have been on Prevacid for years and give myself a shot for cholesterol in my stomach. My left arm is useless.
Been on atorvastatin since June 2019 and I've been experiencing issues with both wrists, right knee and left shoulder for at least the last six months. I think I'll be dropping the statins out immediately
Yep and unless you go and read the side effects the doctors sure the hell dont tell you what might happen. So you go around in misery and are clueless thinking you injured yourself somehow. So BS
I have always felt that statins were dangerous. Thank you Dr. Ali for an easy to understand lecture. I just wish I had found you years ago, been on Atorvastatin for 25 years
For what reasons do you wish that you had found this info years ago ? What would you have done different ? Maybe like myself , not take them. I have just been prescribed them
Great job!!!! Great info!! I'm about to discontinue my cholesterol medication again for the second time in my life. I just started taking it again, a month ago. I was on it 30 years ago for a while, did some research and found out it was not good and stopped taking it. My current doctor wants me on it. My cholesterol is only 239. I went and had the CACS - Coronary artery calcium score test done on my own. Got a score of 57. Which is not bad for my age, of 64. I also had my carotid arteries checked. Looked good. So, after watching this video. I'm stopping the crestor. Totally ridiculous.... Thanks
I have familial hypercholestoreolemia and have had extensive intervention. Started keto and intermittent fasting 2 years ago. Starting taking NIACIN and lowered my Crestor to 1/3 tablet daily. Way better compromise with good ratios and hugh reduction in small particle LDL.
Dr Nadir is brilliant. He explains everything very well. I was on Statins for a long time. I decided to stop taking it. I started intermittent fasting. My Triglycerides came down and I lost 20 kg. My blood pressure was 160/70 (UK values). It is now 120/70. I have energy and feel great. Thank you Dr Nadir. I agree with the previous comment. Dr Nadir should be given the Noble prise.
Hi Nadir, Aarron here from Helensville, New Zealand where's it's 5:00 pm, with your help I've identified what Dr Eric Berg describes as a concept worthy of a Nobel Prise. I'm sure how or why I stumbled on it and it's a concept so simple that all your viewers will want to tune at around in 7 hours time - midnight local time.
@@kashifmajeed694 I lost weight and cut out inflammatory foods. No sugar, no grains, no seed oils ( such as vegetable oil, canola oil, sunflower oils etc) only use grass fed butter, coconut oil, avocado oil. I quit drinking alcohol. My BP is down to normal. Magnesium also helps with lowering blood pressure.
I just had a check up with a cardiologist and he wants to put me on a statin even though I reduced my cholesterol level 50% down to 160. After reviewing this and other research, regarding statins, I won’t even bother with them. The risks seem much worse than the cure and will just to continue improve my lifestyle
Dr Nadir Ali. I listened very carefully to your great presentation. I am one of those you referred to with high LDL due to all the reasons you have mentioned and I would appreciate communicating further with you to give you more details and discuss with you. Pls let me know if you agree. My very best.
@@brut9999Seems reasonable. I’ve been up and down within that range ever since I started getting lipid panels done 20 years ago. Improvement in my diet has really only made significant change to lower triglycerides and increase HDL.
My cholesterol is 175, HDL 65, LDL 100, Triglycerides 73, Lipoprotein(a) 10, Sed rate 5 and CRP 0.02. Doctor is concerned that my ApoB is 69 and Homocysteine is 12.1. Waiting for CAC results. Did stress and echocardiogram, came back normal.
In 2020, my doctor wanted to put me on statins to control paroxysmal Supra ventricular tachycardia that I’ve had since 1968. I would have had to trial all the statins and fail before I could get an ablation which would fix it forever. I said no, I’ll continue to live with it. Most doctors don’t believe I have it anyway, because I would have had an ablation at diagnosis, but ablation wasn’t invented in 1968. Neither was ultrasound, CAT scan, or MRI. EKGs had one line and printed out on long strips of paper. The Dr. would stand and watch as the strip scrolled out of the machine. The history of medicine is important in understanding the medial history of patient and family.
There isn't one right level for everybody, but studies have shown that people with high LDL (supposedly the bad kind) live longer than people with low LDL.
I have fought my doctor's against statins, she said if you don't take them you are going to die at sixty like your parents and brother,so I have been taking them religiously for a few months and have nothing but leg hip and back pain, I was up to walking five kilometers now I have a hard time walking one.. I'm going to stop taking them.
Julie- the only way your doctor is correct about her assessment of your future is it you continue to live the way you have to get you to this point. Please study Dr. Fung, Dr. Phinney Dr. Ali - look at info about Vitamin D3 combined with Vit. K2-mk7. Also take niacin and Norwegian fish oil ( a good quality one) daily. You have to stop the plaque in the arteries or you will have a cardiovascular event. Most of us have hyperinsulinimea/prediabetes due to all the sneaky sugar in our diets -study metabolic syndrome.
Simbastatin has completely destroyed my mom's memory, her brain, her muscles, caused her fatigue and depression. She was on them since 2012. After researching I convinced her to come off of it 2 years ago. Her heart doc said he was going to put her back on it and I told him over my dead body. I thought he was going to slap me.
Amazing content. Being a physician, I'm ashamed to be brainwashed and forced to follow the guidelines that the medical societies and boards cook up in these pharma labs. Unfortunately this is only a tiny glimpse of the entire medical and food industry.
the best dr. cardiologist.im 66 yrs. old and have stent 4 years ago.im on low dose aspirin and statins.vldl is 1.00 ldl 2.17. hdl 1.50. hdl ratio 3.11 had 3 stent. my question is can I stop using aspirin and statins altogether? dr. please help. God bless you and your family
I actually lie to my doctor and tell him im taking the statins in an effort to have him stop thinking I am a difficult patient. When I first said "no, I wont take them" he was literally lost for words and just stared at me. I had also been on TRT for 6 months (through an online clinic" and when I told him this he was shocked and says "I want you to stop that, its going to kill you". So... he and I dont have the best relationship now. Oh, and in the same visit I told him I was doing carnivore.... you can imagine the look on his face. So ya... he thinks I'm insane. 6 months later all my blood counts have improved greatly and ive lost 35lbs... i reversed metabolic syndrome and pre-diabetes and dropped my triglycerides from a heart attack inducing 8 to 1... HBA1C back to the 'good' zone and ALT to healthy numbers as well.... and he ignores all of it and all he cares about is that I am taking his statins :(
I've done the exact same thing as you and I'm 60 years old. Luckily I developed severe muscle aches when on statins years ago and quit them. These "Dr's" are really dropping the ball on statins and carb consumption.
I had triple bypass in 2020 and a mild stroke in 2021. Keto and IF has made a tremendous difference! I just got my doctor to take me off metformin for diabetes because my A1C suggests I don't need it.I am watching this because I am trying to stop taking Atorvistatin. Again, my labs suggest I don't need it, but my primary care doctor refuses to take take me off it. He says I'm a heart patient and need to take it for life! He doesn't care what my labs say. I'm calling my cardiologist tomorrow so I can discuss discontinuing some of my meds, and also think I'm finding a different primary care doctor.

Hey my dad has high cholesterol and can’t take that and he takes fish oil for his. I had a physical Tuesday and I’m still waiting on blood test results. Which I will get monday they were closed Friday today and Sunday. I had an ekg and they said I had an enlarged left arterium and I see a cardiologist on july 23rd. I’m not taking cholesterol medicine even if mine is high I will take fish oil. Maybe my cholesterol is good who knows I’m still waiting on blood work.
This Doctor deserves a medal of honor for his bravery to tell it how it is! 99% of doctors stay silent and don't care about their hippocratic oath or their ethical beliefs! Most are just after the big bucks!!!
I know a great many surgeons, all of whom retired early because they saw what he insurance companies were up to doing. Because I am 76 years old I also know a fair number of General Practitioners. One of them ignored his insurance companies mandates to find the damage in my spine by ignoring it. OJ. To be honest they just wanted an x-ray to show arthritis and send me home with aspirin. Turns out I have a much worse condition which he found an MRI. He was not certified for the following year. It took 80% of his clients out of his practice. He was devastated. So were his patients. He retired early and went to work in a practice that was crying for Doctors and was paid by the community he served. Boy was that a pain; for him, for me and everyone involved it was an actual failure of the system "writ large."
As a young, fit person with cancer, a high HDL, low triglyceride and high LDL with doctors pushing statin down my throat not only for the High LDL but cancer too , all I want to say is THANK YOU. I love you. ❤️. You’ve just backed what my intuition been saying. The body knows best and it’s part of the healing and repair process from all the surgeries and chemo I’ve had. Now if only I could find a doctor like you to help me heal the cancer. 😊 For now least I can trust my body more for the high LDL.
Good for you! I am a Nurse Practitioner and I prescribe Carnivore Diet to my Diabetic and obese patients. Some of the doctors I work with disagree. They tell me I’m going make their conditions worse. I laugh at their notes. The patients who do follow instructions have results like yours. I have taken patients off insulin and they get well when they have the ability to feed themselves a Proper Human Diet (as Dr. Ken Berry calls it) aka carnivore diet.
This is an eye opening presentation! Several years ago, I took statins on my doctor’s recommendation. After about a year, my body felt like Muhammad Ali had used me for a punching bag. I stopped the statins and it took almost a year before I felt normal again. When I reported this to him, he was not happy; but I was because I felt better. Still, every year he measures my lipids and every year he recommends statins. Every year, I respond that I would be willing to discuss statins with him, to which he gives me a lifeless smile, closes his laptop and moves on to his next patient.
@@BlackMamba-lt8oe CAC is quick and cheap. If the score is about zero, no need for a more expensive more invasive study. My cardiologist recommended one. I was 0.14%. Told me my palpitations was a pot of caffeine everymorning. Stop it. And no, no statins that my gp wanted me on, in spite of stellar ratios.
Joe Curtis, I'd find a new doctor if I were you. The only weapon in your doctor's toolkit appears to be to use the 10 year risk of heart attack score (a complete BS measure) and prescribe a statin if your "risk" number is over 10%, which it is for virtually everybody over age 60 since age is a big component of the score. He obviously can't explain the science or he would have a discussion with you. I had a GP do that with me after a physical 3 years or so ago, and the nurse said I'd have to make another appointment to discuss the statin recommendation, which I had refused. I haven't been back.
My cholesterol was always was a litle bit high, under 240 but over 200. I am 80 years old and have no heart problems or high blood pressure. I only am slightly hypothyroid. I refused statins because 400,000 person study in europe determined that people with higher cholesterol lived longer
This guy knew my dad and mom. I used to see him at dinner parties. His son went to school with my sister and I. Hell my uncle worked at the same hospital as him for years. I can’t believe he’s doing talks like this. Kudos to him!
Thank you so much Dr Ali for the enlightenment! My mother's physician was prescribing Statins her but I told her not to because of Dr Stan Ekberg's substantial health videos and she feels good. She has blood cancer and is taking oral chemo pill, she is taking high blood pressure maintenance pill and a blood thinner pill because she had amild stroke 15 years ago. She is alsk doung Intermittent fasting and lowcarb diet. She said she feels good but everytime she has a blood test every month, her physician prescribes her Statins because her LDL is high. She refuses to take the Statins and she feels good. The nerdy information you shared has made her decide all the more to NOT TO TAKE THE STATINS!! More power to you!!
My anecdotal comment is of a friend of mine who died of pancreatic cancer. He was a dentist, very fit and proactive in health matters. He had an annual check up and had elevated cholesterol. He was never close to being overweight but lost more weight and went on statins. He went from being healthy and vibrant looking to almost frail appearing. I was concerned about him. One day he calls me and tells me he has pancreatic cancer of which he died in six weeks. I have wondered whether there might be a connection with statins because he actually seemed to decline after he started them. Of course, there is no proof of a connection but as a pathologist, I have never been a big fan of statins. There is something disturbing about the band wagon effect big pharm has on standard medical practice. I feel as though studies, journals, medical boards, and best practices can be tainted by the money big pharm throws around. As far as I am concerned, the same thing has happened with MRNA vaccination for Covid.
if you wanna make statins illegal, everything else should be illegal too, everything has a side effect, go and listen to Ayurveda, will end up like Steve Jobs
@@AlexM-jd2ro Oh stop! If you truly have the intelligence of the doctor you claim to be, you know full well that's not a reasonable or fair comparison.
I am currently "non compliant" and my doctor is wondering the same thing I am. Why do I keep coming to see him? Keto and IF have worked miracles for me and so many others. Big pharma is not cheering us on.
Yup, been there and done that. I just stopped going back. Now, my blood pressure is ideal minus any meds. And his life is terrible on the health front.

We live in upside-down world where doctors are destroying health with their prescription pads. It seems that the best way to live a long, healthy life is to avoid doctors whenever possible. Who would have thought that doctor visits would be a risk factor for premature death?
I’m glad I got checked out I have an enlarged left arterium maybe the doctor can do something about it. If I had went with my brother and nieces to six flags I could of probably died on the roller coaster with my heart condition I have to ask the cardiologist about six flags and lake winnie rides if my heart can’t handle something I could be dead. And I’m glad I went when I had covid and covid pneumonia or I could of been dead
Excellent presentation, very informative and interesting, it's also nice that you are able to inject some humor into it. Thank you Doctor. Best wishes from Ireland ☘
Had not been going to the doc regularly for a lot of years. I go and they tell me i have high bp, its genetic and i need a pill. RU-vid medicine - low carb and fasting got my bp down.
It’s all science and makes sense. Since I’ve been doing low carb I’m off all my meds. Not taking anything but supplements. I’m 56 feel like 36. Best shape of my life. Spread the word and get off the sugar/wheat! Why on earth would we be prescribing statins to remove such I’m important molecule for life. Hence Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s!!
Doc is very good. He has reinforced what I knew about statins. Got into a debate with my wife's Doc due to her forgetfulness and eventually got her off the statins in two steps. First step was half it for couple of months and then stop all together. Her memory has improved since then. Sticking to Keto diet.
It doesn’t hurt anyone to stop statins cold turkey. It’s not a controlled substance! These damn drs will say anything to keep people 😮going in for more appt.
I was on a very low dose of statins for about 15 years…. As I got older I thought my muscle soreness was caused by my age. When I became so sore as to debate whether walking down and up stairs was worth the pain, I quit the statin drug… To my surprise most all of my muscle aches and pains went away…. I felt 20 years younger……. Of course because of the muscle pain I had stopped exercising and gained weight….. I am absolutely sure the quality of my life would have been better if I never took statins… Every one is different, be careful………..
My doctor wanted to put me on statins. I gave him a meta-analysis that showed ppl with high LDL live longer. He didn't even look at it. Noted in my chart that he prescribed statins and I refuse to take them. I said: "But what about the horrible side affects, like muscle cramps, and increases your risk of diabetes?" He said: "If statins weren't safe, they wouldn't be on the market." I couldn't believe my ears!!!! These doctors have drunk the kool-aid and are not willing to continue learning...
"If statins weren't safe, they wouldn't be on the market." yeah well I guess cigarettes and alcohol are safe then according to your "doctor", I hope you can find someone more competent!
I told my doctor Im having back pains and if the statin that Im taking is causing it. She mentioned its not. She just advised me to take more meds for my pain such as mefennamic acid and norgesic. And i felt even worse!
I think your very last sentence was so brave and courageous! You have revealed such a pure soul and I wish there were more doctors like you in the industry. God bless you for truly trying to help people... instead of fill your bank account. ❤️👏🏻
I wish your lecture was required for all MD's. The way insurance and big pharma control how doctors can treat their patients is disgusting! They don't want patients to be cured; there's no money in that for them.
ABSOLUTELY FANATASTIIC! AT LAST a doctor that shows why LDL is not "BAD" ! Something I have always believed. I was being told to take statins and I refused absolutely - wouldn't touch them with a ten meter pole!
A huge study of almost 13 Million South Koreans was recently finished,... Some were treated with Statins, some were not, about 10 years after the beginning it was noted that the LOWEST (all cause) Mortality rate was in the people who had Total Cholesterol Levels of 210 to 240 ! The HIGHEST (all cause) death rate was in the group who had LOW Cholesterol of 150 or less !
@@logical_lb3059 lmao and meta analysis from BMJ shows high ldl to have overall less mortality than low ldl. So either the good fat they have been pushing is bad or they are flat out wrong😂
We should sue the system that forces to take statins. Not a joke. I have no health issues, never got sick, performing way batter than an average man of my age, but every year when I go for blood test my doctor forces me to take statins. I am kind of scared of visiting my family doctor.
After a few years on a low dose (10mg), I'm going off them. I'm convinced that a Mediterranean style diet plus lowering stress level (exercise/meditation), getting the weight down and avoiding all the diabetes no-nos is the way to go, or at least try. Its good to understand that LDL in and of itself does not mean things are "bad".
I'm a bit confused by the Mediterranean diet Vs keto diet thing. All the advice I'm seeing is that a healthy diet is low carb and yet in a Mediterranean diet surely there's a lot of pasta or does the Mediterranean diet exclude pasta?
One of the best presentations. I am on statins now. I am going to slowly withdraw. My primary disagrees with my decision to follow the Keto/carnivore diet. Since changing my diet I have dropped weight and feel great. Next would get rid of statins.
I hope you have done the research on Keto diet. From what I have seen is that Keto is fine in the short run but detrimental in the long haul. Please check out the long term impact of Keto. Remember Dr Atkins( the originator of the Keto diet, formerly known as the Atkin’s diet) died of a severe heart attack. Please be careful!
Love this guy's presentation! Had a phone call from my surgery this morning trying - yet again - to push statins on me because I am diabetic with slightly elevanted LDL. This video is very timely.
Beautiful, doctor! Amazing! Wonderful! Fantastic! Brightening! Well, I guess the list would go on and on. I was on statins, and you guess what, my A1C went up, liver enzyme skyrocketed, kidney's function went down. So, my doctor decided that I I stopped statins which I had been taking for more than 3 months! So, stopped statins for almost 4 weeks and I felt much better. But then, my doctor said I should go on with Repatha injection, which is a pcsk9 inhibitor. I am still waiting for the prescription to arrive. However, I just watched your videos today and some videos of other amazing doctors about this. Now, I decided to be throwing the injection into the waste basket once it arrives! Thank you so much, doctor! I hope there will be many other doctors around the world who will stand up and MAKE THE CHANGE! Love you!
A guy I know we were talking about cholesterol one day. He said his grandmother had a cholesterol of over 300. I said WOW I said how old was she when she died I figured he wouldve said like 65 or something. He smiled and said she was 93😆😆😆
I am currently non compliant since my cardiologist wants me to take statins. I eat very healthy, weight is 150 lbs, no heart disease, fish vegeterian, no diabetes, non somker/drinker, get lots of exercise, feel great. My LDL is 147, Total is 205, HDL is 45, Triglycerides>150. I need to hear a very convincing argument with hard data on how statins will prevent me from getting heart disease and a heart attack. Until that data comes in, I am not taking any statins. My Lipoprotein A is very low, and inflammation panel came back negative. CBC, CMP and PSA tests came back great.
I had to explain to my doctor how statins will increase the reuptake of healthy LDL, preferring it over glycated ldl, actually increasing the concentration of AGE byproducts in the bloodstream & therefore increase chronic inflammation.
I met Dr. Ali at Low Carb Houston. What a salt of the earth kind of guy! No pretension whatsoever. I chatted with Ali and Ivor Cummins, Jeffrey Gerber and Dave Feldman at a local eatery.
@@tonyofarrell7318 My mother's doctor told her to stop eating fat to reverse fatty liver. Just because you have an MD doesn't mean you are good at reading scientific studies, crunching numbers, doing regression analysis, statistics etc etc. Many doctors don't have the time to read. I spend 3 to 4 hours a day on pubmed and youtube as a hobby. i reversed my mother's high blood pressure, calcium score and diabetes. I have spoken to doctors about MPO inflamation, small dense ldl particles, insulin proxy exams and was surprised that i had more knowledge on these specific subjects than them. There is no monopoly on intellect and hunger for knowledge. Bill gates, Mark Zuckerberg and steve jobs never made a penny from anything they studied in a formal setting. The average person in Okinawa lives way longer than your average US doctor, ask yourself why. You would think that the standard of statins, insulin and high carb diet would have doctors living to 110 in the US. do they even believe in what they profess? If they do I would not trust their intellect.
@@tonyofarrell7318 Ivor Cummins? The one who has a biochemical engineering degree who has study this exact thing for the past twelve years? What makes him qualified? Hhmmmm... yeah, good question 🤔. I'd listen to him over any PCP any day. You do you though.
@@toddp822 @Tony o farrell No doubt! Most PCP's have like, what? 4 hours of nutrition class? How are they qualified to give advice on diet? They're trained by the dog and pony show of free lunches sponsored by big Pharma, all competing to sell their drugs that don't work. Oh wait, there's evidence they do work!?! Yeah, via the studies they paid for and sponsored. Conflict of interest? It's a joke. The whole thing is really a clinical criminal enterprise. Everyone has this brainwashed attitude that doctors know best, when in reality most of them don't know what they're doing, except prescribing drugs in a way that somehow doesn't get them sued.
Yes, he is indeed a lovely man. I chatted with him over dinner at the low carb Denver conference in March, and he was indeed completely unpretentious. Honor to have met him.
One of the best pieces on the internet reagarding statins regardless of what lane you're in with your diet. Only criticism is the inference at the and that there is a movement to promote a "processed vegan diet" by health professionals. There is an enormous difference between the whole food plant based diet recomended for cardiac health and the pop culture of processed veganisim coming to a fast food resturant near you promoted by the food industry.
I did not take it as he was promoting a processed vegan diet. The way I interpreted it was he was saying cardiologists are now promoting professed veganism, which is the wrong thing to do. Maybe I’m wrong.
About 2 years ago a doctor gave me a prescription for statins. I flicked it into her waste paper basket and said, "no thanks, all my family have what you call high cholesterol and they all lived into their 90's." She wasn't happy.
Same with me. My mom and dad lived to 95. Both had high cholesterol. My 42 yo daughter, who does Ironman competitions, and has a body fat index of around 3%, has high cholesterol. Simvastatin ruined my life. I now have PMR as a result of taking Simvastatin for three years.
@@joescott7525 If you persist with the statins, take CoQ10, Vitamins K1, K2 (MK7) Vitamin D and PQQ. You'll feel so much better. Also, you might like to think about replacing the statins with Niacin (Flush Niacin, not prolonged release or Nicotinamide), but do research it first. Many people don't like the flush, but I can assure you that it becomes unnoticeable after about a week.
In ancient China the doctor was paid when you were healthy. And you would stop paying him when you were sick. That's what I heard and it makes sense. Hare Krishna!
My doctor wanted to start me on statins (why I’m here) and asked him to provide referral for a cardiologist, and he kept saying I don’t recommend a cardiologist. Okay, willing to put me on a risky drug without the precautionary validation that’s in the best interest of the patient. Where does the loyalty lie these days?
Dr. Ali has to be one of the best speakers I’ve ever heard. I know other Doctor Who has have referred to some of what he has talked about. It is refreshing to see a Doctor Who is honest and tells you the negatives as well as the positives of any medication. Also nice to see somebody advocating for patients doing their own research and taking responsibility for their own health outcomes. You would think common sense everyone would be aware of the potential conflicts of the funding behind a lot of his studies but many people are too lazy to look any deeper. A great video! An ethical doctor! A refreshing change.
So refreshing. I love you dr. Ali. Cardiologist called me " internet doctor" I told him, based on your outdated knowledge, you got diploma40 years ago,
You know what would be really helpful, is letters people can print and give to their Doctors regarding, well anything. Cause i watch so many of these, Richard K Bernsteins and Diet Dr videos and its hard to argue with, its so simple but when it comes to convincing our assigned Doctors its near impossible, probably cause we as patients dont have a degree. Maybe they'd be more open if they read in doctor terminology what were telling them.
Here is a video where Dr. Ali presents the same info in a lecture produced specifically for other healthcare providers ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q6bOGWtOa1c.html
Standard of care is the biggest issue. It’s been hijacked by big pharma. If drs don’t follow it, they can get sued or worse yet, lose the ability to practice.
I am currently being urged by my doctor to take statins as my risk of heart disease because of my cholesterol. I have been digging my heels in and refusing. I’m waiting for them to raise my insurance rates because of my refusal. I’ve educated myself through RU-vid doctors more than my in person doctors. Thanks to the wonderful people who are telling the truth about the health industry. And make no mistake. It’s big business.
Love his presentation and Dr.Nadir speaks from his heart and I am actually worried for him as the FDA and Big Pharma will come after him.Just as they came after my Mentor and he has been stripped of his Doctorate for talking about the side effects of Statin many years back. As a Holistic Medicine Practitioner, I have been helping many people back to health using herbs and natural compounds. We need more people like him.
fantastic! so much physiology info. the key parts regarding drug mechanisms, side effects. the true info hidden behind the "studies" which few can ever figure out.
I hope that the information presented here is as accurate as possible, as peoples lifes are at stake - I've had 2 big heart attacks, and recently just had a triple bypass. I am considering stopping the statins now mostly because of the side effects, and the info I can dig up myself (such as this) I stopped my 'medicine' once before and went on keto. My cholesterol on keto was in fact lower, my weight too - but who's to say that the interior of my arteries was in better condition?. The only way to tell that AFAIK would be with coronary artery examinations of patients on and off the drug over a period of time. Whilst on keto and off the medicine my EKG's, and bloodwork were all good, even ultrasound showed nothing. So it's possible to fool yourself that you are fine, when in fact you might not be.
Phil Norris your caution is justified. Going off statins in my opinion is a good idea, but you need the help of a sympathetic doctor who can evaluate your individual case and guide you through the process. This is where it can get difficult because it is not easy finding such a doctor. Also the evidence supporting using, say, low carb diet and other lifestyle changes is not as robust as it needs to be, for two reasons. One - these changes in approach are new and there had not been the time to accumulate the evidence; Two - no one wants to invest the money as there is not the financial incentive and huge profits to be made.
So true. And this should also be the determining factor as to who should be prescribed statins. ( not based solely on blood serum percentages). Angiographic results are the only true evidence to prove a risk factor for cardiovascular episode.
Thank you Dr Ali. I’m impressed and have been very well educated by you on LDL. But as a Dr at what level can I confidently prescribe statins for my patients. Will be grateful to here your response. Thanks
Dr. Ali what was the dosage used in the studies on your slides, I'm interested in the Hypothesis that a low dose statin can be beneficial towards reducing Inflammation while not adversely affecting glucose/insulin resulting in increased I.R. Thank you so much for your work on this subject.
Very informative and helpful for clinicians and patients alike! Thank you for bravely speaking truth. For those of us struggling to raise HDL, after years of arthritis I am better on a keto and psmf diet but still not able to to do high intensity training-any thoughts on additional ways to improve HDL. And thank you for not calling cholesterol good or bad or lousy and happy it insults our intelligence. I would love to hear what you eat for heart health too.
There is a saying if someone invent a drug that improve HDL could win a Nobel Prize. There is no such drug or direct food that could improve HDL BUT there is an agent that is associated with HDL improvement which is vitamin B3 (Niacin). You may take Tuna and Mushroom to get Tons 9f it. Yoga improves HDL too.
Have used for 17 years flax oil (barlean’s organic) excellent supplement for overall health.. comes in a bottle, not pill form.. dated, cold pressed oil, found in freezer section..mixes well in smoothie.. good buttery taste, can drizzle over veggies. Also use one many of us as kids grew up on… cod liver oil (Carlson’s) old brand around since 1940’s great source Omega3, rich Vit. A, for joints… cardiovascular health.. it comes in lemon* no fishy taste.. good stuff!😊 💪🏼
I left a comment a year ago. Then got off statins. I am now off insulin. I do not need it. My A1C dropped and is normal on a very mild old fashioned diabetes medication.
The problem for the medical field is that this man makes sense If they are lying about this ask yourself the question how many lies are they telling us about COVID.
